Roger Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 (edited) Great news. And ward prowse 6! http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/20160513-fraser-forster-new-five-year-southampton-contract-3111143.aspx Edited 13 May, 2016 by Jimmy_D Adding Official Site link to OP.
S-Clarke Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Another very big move from the club, shows the ambition is there. Big part of this team for years to come. Got a feeling a few more are on the way as well.
thorpie the sinner Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 I am beginning to see what our new direction is! Stop the mass sales and actually throw a bit more money at the players we want to keep. Refreshing I would say, hope we can do the same with RK!
Patrick Bateman Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Great news to see Forster and JWP sign up for longer terms too. Keep 'em coming!
Chalkboy Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 I really wish Les Reed could get contracts over the line.........
Mattio Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Be a great two fingers to the papers if RK signs a new contract this week too.
Donatello Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Thank christ we've kept the big clubs away from JWP. How long did it take you to come up with that?
DuncanRG Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 What? No Koeman in the photo .... He's in the others.
doddisalegend Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 He's in the others. Phew..... I thought he might be in Liverpool already
Ice2Eskimos Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 I don't think Koeman is going. VVD and Forster 2 players who ain't mugs signing significant contracts definitely means something positive in regards to the RK situation.
doddisalegend Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 I don't think Koeman is going. VVD and Forster 2 players who ain't mugs signing significant contracts definitely means something positive in regards to the RK situation. or they know someone even better is coming in .......
Ice2Eskimos Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 or they know someone even better is coming in ....... I'd love that to be the case. Something is defo happening that's for sure. Just waiting for the club to actually say something concrete.
shurlock Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Excellent news - made a huge difference when he returned.
GarrettIvo Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 FFS! So sick of this clueless board and they're lack of ambition. Run like a B&B indeed.
Saint_clark Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 I'd love that to be the case. Something is defo happening that's for sure. Just waiting for the club to actually say something concrete. Koemans said nothing will happen with his contract till the end of the season.
Mr Biscuits Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 or they know someone even better is coming in ....... Zlatan........
gammoncheeks Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Thank christ we've kept the big clubs away from JWP. I know...............Forest , Leeds and wolves were all sniffing around!
Mr Biscuits Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 These renewals are a great statement of intent by the club
angelman Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Ah but Forster had Les doing it, JWP had Ron. Panic. Meltdown. Ron's off. But damn good news about FF.
doddisalegend Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Zlatan........ As manager? It would almost be worth it for the ****s and giggles
jasonb Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 #ItsHappening I've dreamed of the day we were ever in this position. A position where our best players see their future at Saints!! These are indeed great times fellow Saints. I'm putting all cynicism aside for now. Life's too short and I'm beginning to think anything is possible given Leicester's monumentus achievement.
davefizzy14 Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 These contract renewals show the clubs statement of intent. So happy that Fraser and Prowsey have committed COYR
Suhari Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 This is great news - particularly FF. Wasn't he linked with Chelsea and ManU only a couple of weeks ago?
angelman Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Chelsea were going to sell Courtois for £50-65m (apparently)!!!!!!!!!!!!! And presumably thought that they could get FF on the "cheap".
kwsaint Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Could be a quiet summer with only Mane going. Would make a nice change
ErwinK1961 Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Could be a quiet summer with only Mane going. Would make a nice change Still convinced Wanyama will stay? I'm really struggling to see it, surely he'd have signed a new contract by now if he really wanted too? I would have thought Mane was more likely to stay another year than Vic
Saint Charlie Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Brilliant news. Good work from the club to get it sorted and a well deserved pay rise I am sure.
Saints foreva Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Could be a quiet summer with only Mane going. Would make a nice change Wanyama isn't staying.
lickierambert Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Maybe I'm being naïve, but would Forster mention the ambition around the club if it wasn't heavily linked to the manager staying?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Bet lots of players fancy the bed and breakfast here ..
doddisalegend Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Maybe I'm being naïve, but would Forster mention the ambition around the club if it wasn't heavily linked to the manager staying?
DuncanRG Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 Maybe I'm being naïve, but would Forster mention the ambition around the club if it wasn't heavily linked to the manager staying? He'll have been asked to mention the ambition of the club.
Ice2Eskimos Posted 13 May, 2016 Posted 13 May, 2016 He'll have been asked to mention the ambition of the club. F'me got an answer for everything you have. Can people just be at least a little bit chuffed that we just secured arguably one of the top 5 keepers in the League, who by the way, Chelsea were sniffing around less than a week ago. I do not for one second believe VVD and Forster would have committed had they had any doubts about Koeman staying. And by the way,....the fact that all the contracts are 5 years, which fits in nicely with the 5 year plan is NOT a coincidence. Koemans staying. End of.
