How much do you trust the board?

Likely to be a difficult close-season, with Mane, Big Big probably off. No doubt rumors will be flying about around RK; VVD and Big Fraser attracting interest from 'bigger' clubs.

So the question is: how much do you trust the board to navigate us through to next season? How much of a forum meltdown do you predict?

There is no reason to distrust them. Its just frustrating that it seems like deja vu every summer.

Fans cannot be blamed for being frustrated that players (and Managers) seem reluctant to commit to Saints. Despite being top 10 the past 3 years only Fonte and Davis of regular starters have signed new contracts.

Most realise Wanyama and Mane will go and I hope we replace them better than we did Clyne and Schneiderlin. Beyond that, if we sell more players then sooner or later it has to become difficult to maintain the standards. This season VVD aside its been the 2014 signings and players we have had for longer who have been the key men. With the money we bring in plus the TV revenue it would be good to see us be a bit more ambitious with signings this summer versus the last.

Feel Ralph sometimes gets carried away with his public comments and (not maliciously) often exagerates. His recent comments about contract discussions with Koeman is an example, only for Koeman to come out and say there haven't actually been contract talks but just the more philosophical plan stuff. Very similar to their comments re Pochettino. Would prefer him to be more reserved and just stick to the facts.

I predict a total forum meltdown,

But the board have got things pretty much right the last two meltdown pre seasons!

In all honesty, except from VVD- who has been a 10/10 buy, all our success for this season has come from the 2014 transfer buys- Long, Mane, Tadic, Ryan, Forster...

I will retain my trust until we see our transfers this summer, but I am worried that this selling will slowly creep up with us.

I wouldn't be surprised if we stagnate a little bit and finish 12th to 14th- which by no means is awful- given we have been spoilt in recent years.

With regards to transfers this window- the summer will tell how crucial Mitchell really was- and whether our scouting department really is excellent.

Not that much tbh. Not bad people just don't think they have necessary ambition. We need to stop selling players so frequently imo and work harder to keep Koeman.

Why not? We have come higher than the previous season every season since the Liebherr takeover.

09/10 - 51st

10/11 - 46th

11/12 - 22nd

12/13 - 14th

13/14 - 8th

14/15 - 7th

15/16 - currently 7th

They have reinvested the money from sales and we have the best squad the club has ever had in its 131 year history.

We are only a couple of weeks away from the usual loons on this forum ranting on about how we've been in decline since the day Cortese left.

Last season was written off as a Led Reed fluke by those geniuses so I have no doubt this one will be too.

Every new season is a new start and if we end up around the top eight again, that's progress.

Maybe we'll get a little less on the "net spend" myth this time round but you never know. Some never learn.

Collectively the board are decent.

That being said we have been quite fortunate with other boards at other clubs having brain farts and diabolical seasons.

I do think Les Reed is way too Naive.

Cortese had Reeds bollo*ks in his pocket and threw them out the window when he left leaving Reed scrambling across the floor to find them and sew them back on ...which he still hasn't managed to do.

If you don't trust the board, and don't like the way the club is run and how it plays, go buy a ticket somewhere else or maybe just stay at home and watch it on TV. The board works for the owner - we are captive customers. They know that. We know that. They do what they want, we suck it up and turn up week in, week out.

ie I don't waste my time thinking about whether I trust the board or not.
