Yep today was clearly a "come and get me" plea to Pep.....

How did you work that one out? Have we actually got to the point where if a player plays well against a big club he's considered to be wanting to join there?! Well maybe he should just put a bit less effort in in future.

I have no doubts that Mane will go in the summer but I don't believe for one minute that that was his motivation today.

Good time to hit form. Hit and miss season but with proves the way they are, well..he's a lot better than sterling. I think 40m and I'd be happy for him to go. He can be great but we could replace him.

Of course he can be replaced, but doubt it will be of a player of similar quality. Have a look at the club of players with 2+ pl hat-tricks, he's already a fairly rare breed.

In fairness in between the two hat-tricks he went on a rather long goal drought in the league the lasted the best part of four months.

Of course we will, and anyone who acts outraged about it when it happens is just being ridiculous.

Gotta agree with that tbf.

But as long as we don't sell him:

1. For less than -£30M

2. To Spurs

3. To Liverpool

I'm happy.

Less than £30M I can deal with.

But to Spurs or liverpool I'll be f*cking seething.

The contrast between £49m Raheem Sterling and Sadio Mane today was vast.

I think I'd be disappointed with only £30m in the current transfer market.

Yep. This was Sterling's chance to prove himself ahead of the Madrid game. He was shocking, barely troubled Martina.

I hope Mané doesn't leave, we have no need to sell him (this season), I'd rather he left next summer for 10m rather than this summer for 30 (or 40).

We are going to miss him next season. Badly.

Trouble is, the player went "missing" for much of this season also, but his recent good form seems to have erased that from people's memory.

Delighted he has found form, shame he's unlikely to stay, and a shame if he did stay the current form and attitude might not be sustained August - May.

Think that we will lose Mane, and probably Pelle as well. But from what I have heard from a reliable source big Vic may well end up staying. Also think that RK will see out next season and then move on. Main concern is that we hold on to Forster.

I do find it all a bit strange that we expect players to be with us for several years. I wonder what the average someone stays at a club is? Looking at our recent high level departures....

Lovren - 1 season

Lambert - 5 seasons

Lallana - 7 seasons

Clyne - 3 seasons

Morgan - 7 seasons

Then there are the two youngsters Shaw and Chambers.

Me, I see 3 seasons as being about what you can expect. Lovren doing 1 is obviously an exception and shows what a **** he is. Those from L1 days are also not how things usually work. Mané has done 2 so you hope to get another season out of him. Wanyama has done 3 seasons.

Sounds about right. For me the disappointing ones are the academy boys the likes of OX, Chambers and Shaw it would be nice if we got to see a bit more of those types of players before they moved on. In reality though football is incredibly transient these days with regards to players and managers. A third top 8 finish in a row, despite losing all these irreplaceable players and mangers, should imo breed a bit of confidence into our support rather than the now annual summer meltdown.

Absolutely - I'm more concerned about him than Mane. Any news on who Conte fancies at Chelsea? There have been Forster links since it became clear he would take over.

Would it be such a bad move if for example we took Begovic in part exchange ?

Similarly, FF was linked with Barcelona (probably far less likely I know), but if Ter Stegan looking for regular football could be enticed ? (Again unlikely as he is probably seeking CL football).

Don't get me wrong I'd rather keep a settled side, and especially the back four (RB aside), but if FF did leave there are good alternatives, but ideally decisions should be made and have them lined up early rather than going on to our third and fourth choices.

Yeah, I've mentioned before that Begovic would be great compensation if Forster were to leave, however unlikely. The reason it concerns me is because changes to the spine are very difficult. Losing him and Wanyama in one window would be very hard to recover from. That said, we've lost Lovren/Lambert and Alderweireld/Schneiderlin before, so who knows?

Back on topic though, what are peoples views of the possiblity of replacing Sadio with Oxlade-Chamberlain?

On form and against a poor Man City & Villa last season in particular - he looks a world class talent, but what about the lengths of the season he went missing and looked disinterested ? If AOC could stay fit and live up to his early promise would this be such a loss (if sold for £30m - to anyone but Poch of course).

Mane and Chamberlain are different types of player IMO.

Mane is a forward who will score 10+ goals a season.

Chamberlain plays deeper, could probably play the 'Davis role' very well but isnt anywhere near the threat of Mane in the final third.

I don't see that as a like for like change. We will need to replace Mane's goals and assists if he leaves.

Chamberlain would obviously be a great midfield buy.

When Oxo was here he played as a winger/wide midfielder which is supposedly what Mane is. I don't see oxo as a central midfielder he certainly hasn't shined as one at Arsenal he has all the assets to be played in a similar role to Mane.

The lads over at man city forums were totally disparaging of sterling, you can see why. I think they'll have had their fingers burnt with sterling, no chance Mane will be off to city.

I can see him off to somewhere like Spurs or Chelsea, if he goes at all.

Man Utd could go for him, but then they've realised over the last two years that an academy/youth player (Rashford, Lingard) , or else someone from the cobweb closet (Carrick) is as likely to be a game changer as spending a ton on one who can't get a game/doesn't play well (Depay, Schneiderlin, Schwiensteiger).

Spurs on the other hand have room for another decent forward, and I reckon one of their 'Class of Post-Bale 2013' (Erikson, Chadli, Lamela) will be off this summer. Been here three years, 'bout time for a move. Arsenal spent 30m on world class Alexis Sanchez. No chance they'll splash out the same for Mane.

Chelsea are in for some big changes with all the talk about players not being happy (esp under Mourinho). A new manager combined with shifting dead wood means difficult to predict quite how they'll play it.

Oh, and Liverpool can't afford another embarrassment.

Apart from a massively inferior goals and assists record.

The record of a midfielder not a forward which is what Mane is used as.
