badgerx16 Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 We wont meet his wage demands. United could afford to sub him.
Matthew Le God Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 United could afford to sub him. That would leave Saints in a tricky situation at the end of his contract if he is still at the club.
Ice2Eskimos Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 He fits our philosophy as a club like a square peg. Nope he can p*ss right off we don't want the likes of him believe me.
SuperSAINT Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 We wont meet his wage demands. In regards to wages etc : Do we have to conform to financial fair play still? I know we had to, but then didn't UEFA lapse the rules? (Or was that just for champions league clubs?)
pluto Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 Laughable garbage written by that plastic journo Alex Crook.
Chalkboy Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 No, no and thrice no! If it were to happen it would be a Ron decision, not Les. But I think the article is complete cobblers.
david in sweden Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 this has been covered on some of the other threads. Whether Koeman likes him or not, he looks like a pile of trouble waiting to explode. All ye of short memory .....remember Dani Osvaldo
Saint_clark Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 In regards to wages etc : Do we have to conform to financial fair play still? I know we had to, but then didn't UEFA lapse the rules? (Or was that just for champions league clubs?) Don't forgot we're getting Osvaldo, Ramirez, Mane and Wanyama off the wage bill this summer. That's a hefty chunk of wages freed up. As for Depay, won't happen. They won't take that much of a loss on him so soon (they'll loan him out so he can impress someone else) and these part exchange deals almost never happen anyway.
Sour Mash Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 When do part exchange deals ever actually happen?
SuperSAINT Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 When do part exchange deals ever actually happen? THIS!
Saint Billy Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 Fck that. 10m and schneiderlin then OK. Now we're talking!
Manuel Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 I'd rather keep Mane and kick him up he arse every now and then.
VectisSaint Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 When do part exchange deals ever actually happen? Tommy Fourpast
Ice2Eskimos Posted 27 April, 2016 Posted 27 April, 2016 When do part exchange deals ever actually happen? Defoe - Altidore Toronto FC. Defoe will probs single handedly keep Sunderland up and we should have signed him. Not that it was ever on the cards to my knowledge but I'd have taken him.
Wade Garrett Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Not for me. Would rather have Morgan back, and sign Ox. Depay has done nothing.
Webby Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 No chance. Players don't go from united to saints. Never gonna happen.
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 When do part exchange deals ever actually happen? Weren't Le Saux, Beattie and Stern John sort of p/ex.? IIRC they were technically separate transfers but happened at the same time, with the same club, replacing players in the same position.
Lighthouse Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 No chance. Players don't go from united to saints. Never gonna happen. They do if they aren't wanted. Roy Carroll went to West Ham, Tim Howard to Everton, Eric Djemba Djemba to Villa, Liam Miller to Sunderland etc.
eelpie Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 No chance. Players don't go from united to saints. Never gonna happen. True, though didn't Mick Channon return to Saints from their rivals City?
Ice2Eskimos Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 (edited) They do if they aren't wanted. Roy Carroll went to West Ham, Tim Howard to Everton, Eric Djemba Djemba to Villa, Liam Miller to Sunderland etc. Just for Sh*tz and giggles... John O'shea To Sunderland, Tom Cleverly to Everton, Kieran richardson to Villa. FFS Johnny Evans went to West Brom, so did Darren Fletcher. Ben Foster to West Brom... Wes Brown to Sunderland. Danny Drinkwater he went to Leicester. The list is endless. I'm sure there's a whole bunch more. In fact, if you don't make it there ..that's where it ends. Unless you're really exceptional and you end up on the continent for mega money. *should add, I still don't want Depay. Edited 28 April, 2016 by Ice2Eskimos
Webby Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 True, though didn't Mick Channon return to Saints from their rivals City? You've proved my point. Thanks.
Webby Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 They do if they aren't wanted. Roy Carroll went to West Ham, Tim Howard to Everton, Eric Djemba Djemba to Villa, Liam Miller to Sunderland etc. United TO Saints. Has it ever happened? Curious.
Matthew Le God Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 No chance. Players don't go from united to saints. Never gonna happen. That is bizarre logic. It is the player quality and wages we offer him that matters, not which club he is at. Saints have signed numerous players over the years from big clubs around Europe.
VectisSaint Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 United TO Saints. Has it ever happened? Curious. Francis Burns, 1972.
Webby Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Francis Burns, 1972. Ok, Francis Burns, 1972, that's one. Thanks.
Webby Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 That is bizarre logic. It is the player quality and wages we offer him that matters, not which club he is at. Saints have signed numerous players over the years from big clubs around Europe. No, it's not actually. Has it happened in the Premier League era? I don't think so. Big clubs around Europe? Ok, there's only a few as big as Man Utd (like it or not); Real, Barca...etc Yes we bought Mark Hughes from Chelsea and he was in the twilight of his career.
sadoldgit Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Quality players will want the biggest clubs and CL football so that rules us out along with all of the other clubs outside the top 4 or 5. . Why would we sign poorer quality players, whichever club they come from?
Webby Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Look at Hernandez (Chicharito)... we wanted him, he didn't wanna know.
Hamwic Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Jim McCalliog in 1975. Played in the cup final and made the pass for Stokes to score.
Ice2Eskimos Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 (edited) Look at Hernandez (Chicharito)... we wanted him, he didn't wanna know. Lmfao. 1 player. I'm somewhere between 20 and 30 years of age and that is the ONE AND ONLY Manchester United player we've ever been seriously in for in my lifetime. ...and I say "seriously" quite loosely. We made..enquiries the rest was rag talk. Can't seriously think of any other player we've wanted from United in 20 odd years. If we were actually in for players and they were snubbing us, yes you'd have a point but we've not been in for anyone, so can't see what point you're trying to make tbh. VectisSaint Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Jim McCalliog in 1975. Played in the cup final and made the pass for Stokes to score. Signed for us when United were in the 2nd division, as we were. They did win the 2nd division that season.
The9 Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 http://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/manchester-united-to-offer-depay-in-exchange-deal/ar-BBskaIx?li=BBoPWjP Thoughts?? Sounds like paper talk based on a complete misunderstanding of how Saints recruit players. Though he's Dutch so there may be a "Koeman Clause". He might be a decent player somewhere in there and we might be able to get him back to the level he was at a few years back, but we don't generally recruit "trouble(d)" players and I'm sure we'd rather flog Mane for a big profit and sign his replacement for a pittance from some random Europa League side. Sisto seems like a more likely signing without any of the baggage.
Shance Posted 28 April, 2016 Posted 28 April, 2016 Every single season the papers print part ex stories. How often do they actually happen? Hardly ever.
Webby Posted 29 April, 2016 Posted 29 April, 2016 Lmfao. 1 player. If we were actually in for players and they were snubbing us, yes you'd have a point but we've not been in for anyone, so can't see what point you're trying to make tbh. My point is, I'm not talking about utd players turning us down, or our wage offer not being enough, I'm talking about the fact that, in the PL era utd players have (mostly) been out of our league. We just don't shop there. You've confirmed that point in the sentence where you say the ONE AND ONLY.... You can't think of any other player we've wanted from united in 20 odd years? Do you really think that we'd not loved to have had any of them, in 20 years? Of course we would! But, as I say, out of our league. We're a massive step down to them. So, the point I'm trying to make is that transfers from utd to saints just don't (in the main) happen, and that point simply cannot be denied.
Webby Posted 29 April, 2016 Posted 29 April, 2016 And Le Saux, Cork, Romeu and Bertrand That's Chelsea, I'm talking about Man U. I only mentioned Hughes cos somebody else said we got him from utd, via Chelsea.
