Kind of a big night, no?

Three matches - pretty cut and dry - root for the away team!

WHam v. Watford

Liverpool v. Everton

Manu v. Palace

I would kill for a clean sweep.

true. I never give enough attention to other games as I should, despite the fact that they impact our final position as much as our own results!

especially seeing as WHam, Liverpool and ManU will be our rivals in top 8 places.

Only one I can see squeezing a result would be Watford, and Palace, though it'll have to be another 'louis van gaal hasn't got a clue' type performance from manU, to see that palace side in their current form get anything other than a loss out the game.

Everton's away form is much better than their home form, weirdly enough, and in a derby match form goes out of the window anyway. I reckon they might pick something up from Anfield.

Man Utd v Palace doesn't affect us, there's no way we will catch them.

Why doesn't it? If Palace beat Man Utd and Saints beat Villa by the end of the weekend we'll be only 2 points behind (plus have a better GD).

Man Utd's game in hand over Saints is on 10th May vs West Ham, they both can't win that match so some points will be lost by one or both of them.

I think Man Utd will finish above us, even at this stage, 5 points is too big a gap for us to overhaul (soon to be 8 points with a win tonight). We are fighting for 6th or 7th with West Ham and Liverpool.

That makes little sense to your original point. You said tonight's Man Utd vs Palace game "doesn't affect us", but if they lose it then we would be able to close the gap to only 2 points at the weekend. So how does that mean tonight's game doesn't make a difference to Saints?

My original point is that we won't catch Man Utd. It's only my opinion, feel free to disagree with it. Even if they lose this game, they have favourable fixtures in comparison to us and will maintain their advantage. I'm looking at West Ham and Liverpool as our rivals.

tbh it was all over for us last weekend vs Everton we needed to win that one to have any chance what so ever

Looks like its 8th place only for us as Liverpool will surely overhaul us

the first half of the season really cost us on that front.

our best period of games and play (IMO) coincided with the injury of a certain player

1-0 to liverpool, Origi

Think this could be the night our EL ambitions fade away and die.

It already happened when we didn't beat Everton.

8th the best we can get IMO and that is a fair reflection of where we are (if a little generous even) this season.

LOL going well for us tonight then. looks like 8th place for us this season. Still top eight three seasons in a row is not to shabby if we are honest.

good going really at the end of the day

I suppose in reality,.

Most we can hope for tonight is a Palace equaliser. Manure only leading by a lucky OG.

Not any more. 2 0. Miserable night, but predictable

You know' date=' if Everton weren't in an FA Cup Semi-Final I think Martinez would be a goner.[/quote']

Even that might not be enough. Liverpool casually wandering through their defence.

3-0

What was stones doing. He really needs to warm the bench this summer, in France

Martinez will be gone this summer. Awful for too long

Even more frustrating that we could not beat a side worse than this Everton one.

We weren't good enough away from home over the season to capitalise.

Watford, WBA, Palace, Norwich, Bournemouth, Arsenal, Leicester.

All away league games we failed to score in.

Got to be winning a few of those really if you want a European place.

Arsenal looking over their shoulder at Man U now. If they don't make top 4 I think it could be bye bye Arsene. Could be bad for us if they like RK.

Wenger won't be sacked. He said today he will aee out his contract. Incidentally that coincides with Ronald seeing out his if they are actually are keen.
