david in sweden Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 (edited) Bit of a shame that neither the Clyne nor Schneiderlin replacements have really nailed their places by April! Every player is different and sometimes we have to change formation / style to suit the skills of the players we have. As the statement about about replacements, let's remember that Clyne had played over 100 Prem. games by the time he left for Liverpool and I recall those disasterous defeats we had when back up in the Prem. when Clyne was clearly out of his depth and looked like the proverbial rabbit caught in the headlights. Later on, there were times when Calum Chambers had taken the RB role, when Clyne didn't look worth his place either. But, in time - he improved. We may never replace Schneiderlin with....(another Schneiderlin)...but we've never replaced Matt le Tissier, either. Also remember that Schneiderlin didn't become that brilliant overnight and not until he'd been with Saints for 2 or 3 seasons. Edited 2 April, 2016 by david in sweden
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 The summer just gone was saved from being a disaster by VvD we really need to be miles better in the market this time round. we need to sign players who are good enough to start from the off or only need a couple of games to get up to speed. not a whole season Yep everything's been terrible yet we have a chance of bettering last year's finish.....
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 Bit of a shame that neither the Clyne nor Schneiderlin replacements have really nailed their places by April! We utilise the squad more than before thats why you see it that way. We all wanted a decent squad and now we have it so few are nailed on starters
Saint Charlie Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 We utilise the squad more than before thats why you see it that way. We all wanted a decent squad and now we have it so few are nailed on starters The squad is stronger numbers wise yes. But the reason it is used is because some players we have brought in aren't putting in consistently good performance each week so they don't always play. That is why the likes of Cedric, Clasie and Romeu are in and out whereas Bertrand, Fonte, Van Dijk, Wanyama etc play every week because they can be relied upon to play at a high level, like Clyne and Schneiderlin did. If we still had them they would start every week when fit. Of course its a good season, but Koeman certainly doesnt seem sold on Cedric or Romeu because he consistently has taken them out the team and Clasie has been up and down but probably not as influential as many thought when he signed. Of the new signings only Van Dijk would come into a Player of The Year discussion. I think thats fair.
Highfield Saint Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 The owners are giving a free pint and free Krispy Kreme doughnut as a gesture of goodwill to all fans... Anyone reckon the away end will get some? Pint and a donut? Strange combination - cant see many pubs selling donuts anytime soon. Maybe a midlands thing?
Mattio Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 OptaPro just posted this, interesting to see 3 saints players but only 1 Leicester player in there so maybe that's one of our best chances of scoring?
Pamplemousse Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 OptaPro just posted this, interesting to see 3 saints players but only 1 Leicester player in there so maybe that's one of our best chances of scoring? We were all over them in the air at home against them, and on their forum they are very concerned about our aerial threat as they know that is their biggest weakness.
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 OptaPro just posted this, interesting to see 3 saints players but only 1 Leicester player in there so maybe that's one of our best chances of scoring? I don't quite understand the figures - it suggests Fonte has only had to compete in 4-5 aerial duels per game all season. That can't be right surely? Perhaps I'm misinterpreting them.
Manuel Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 I would love to see Van Dijk get forward more. He's a real threat.
Saint137 Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 Right then, time to do an Adrian Heath on Leicester's title hopes - surely if we lose tomorrow they'll be over the line.
simo Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 A win for us would be massive and really shake the top of the league back up !
Saint Matty 76 Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 Leicester all over the front-pages tomorrow for PED usage and therefore have to drop Kante, Vardy and Mahrez. 4-0 Saints
Saint Matty 76 Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 Targett playing I believe. Forster van Dijk - Fonte - Bertrand Cedric - Wanyama - Clasie - Targett Davis Mane - Pelle Stekelenburg, Yoshida, Martina, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Long, Austin Would be my guess based on that.
Batman Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 Makes sense to play 3 at the back. Leicester like to hit on the break and exploit space left in an opponents defensive channels.
davefoggy Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 anyone know how much the over 65 tickets were for the Leicester game? I have 4 tickets and they all say £35 Adult on them even though 2 were concessions. Can't find the confirmation email and need to know how much cash to get off the old fellas. ta
nta786 Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 Targett playing I believe. Leicester usually play 442 with Vardy/Okazaki so it would not surprise me to play a 352/532. Forster Cedric Fonte VVD Bertrand Targett Wanyama Clasie Davis Mane Pelle Bench: Stek, Martina, Yoshida, Romeu, JWP, Tadic, (Austin OR Jay Rod) This is what I will guess will be team for tomorrow ^^

Saint Without a Halo Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 If they can't beat us they don't deserve the title When we finished 2nd to a great Liverpool team they actually failed to beat us twice that season!
John Boy Saint Posted 2 April, 2016 Posted 2 April, 2016 We were all over them in the air at home against them, and on their forum they are very concerned about our aerial threat as they know that is their biggest weakness. Get JWP on the pitch to fizz in some free kicks right onto VVDs head
Saint_Tony Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Forster Targett Bertrand VVD Fonte Martina Romeu Wanyama Davis Mane Pelle Think this is the line up we will see. Should be a decent game, I really fancy us to win this 2-1 Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
ericofarabia Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Southampton to win away to the league leaders (and hopefully Champions!!) ... stranger things have happened when we've played against them!! I'll gloss over Peter Shilton scoring at The Dell, but instead recall this little rarity ;-)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDwqmitdk40
alehouseboys Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Weather dry, conditions good in the midlands...for a change. http://twohundredpercent.net/leicester-city-southampton-1983/

davefizzy14 Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Does anyone know what the news is on Long, hopefully he is fit enough to start.
Cabrone Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 They are obviously a good team but if we put our winning heads on we can get something up there. A win would be massive. Only trouble is this game comes after an international break and we always seem to be sluggish after one of those. Hopefully we get the three points today and they go on to win the title, I'd be happy with that.
Chez Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Leicester all over the front-pages tomorrow for PED usage and therefore have to drop Kante, Vardy and Mahrez. 4-0 Saints Is any sport or team clean? They are all at it. The testing is inadequate, there is a complete lack of desire from governing bodies to catch cheats and the drugs are now so good they are becoming almost impossible to spot. Even when athletes are identified, or the evidence is damning, if they don't come from China or Russia we refuse to accept they could be wrong doers.
Pass the Dutchie Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 I wonder if them being named by some sources in the new doping scandal surrounding Mark Bonar will have unsettled some players. We can hope.

Saint_clark Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 I know nothing about this at all so forgive me if this sounds ridiculous, but could that news go some way to explaining why they've had basically no key injuries this season?
Batman Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 (edited) 352 Forster Fonte VvD Bertrand Cedric Target Vic Clasie Davis Pelle Mane both Jrod and Austin on the bench!!!!!!! Edited 3 April, 2016 by Batman
ScepticalStan Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 5-3-2. Strong team. Cedric back in, midfield three of Clasie, Davis and Wanyama with Pelle and Mane up front.
benjii Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 If Mane has a good game he could be the key player. You would think he could roast Huth and Morgan if we can get him running at them.
Chez Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 I know nothing about this at all so forgive me if this sounds ridiculous, but could that news go some way to explaining why they've had basically no key injuries this season? Are you suggesting the whole squad might be using PEDs?
Saint_clark Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Are you suggesting the whole squad might be using PEDs? No, just the key ones of which none have been injured. I don't believe it's true at all I was just asking if there ARE such drugs that could prevent non-contact injuries in that way.
nta786 Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 First time I've ever seen in a while where a team only has one defensive option (Yoshida) on bench lol. I don't blame him lol- weve already got 5 defensive players starting.
Saint_clark Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Excited to see an on form Pelle with Mane through the middle where I think he is at his best. Probably our strongest team right now, as Austin hasn't got going yet and Rodriguez didn't get back to his best.
DuncanRG Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 So good to see Rodriguez back. Hope he comes on and gets the winner. That's a very strong lineup. Vardy won't find it easy to get round Bertrand.
Chez Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 No, just the key ones of which none have been injured. I don't believe it's true at all I was just asking if there ARE such drugs that could prevent non-contact injuries in that way. There are certainly drugs that aid faster recovery.
Saint_clark Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Wtf is that trumpet, not exactly the roar I expected with them being top of the league.
Batman Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Wtf is that trumpet, not exactly the roar I expected with them being top of the league. a fox hunt sounding
Jonnyboy Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 Mane taking the Long role? Any good streams going?
Saint_clark Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 a fox hunt sounding The opposite of what they want surely.
Gingeletiss Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 The pitch is mowed in stripes, like our old strip. An omen.
Batman Posted 3 April, 2016 Posted 3 April, 2016 The opposite of what they want surely. they probably dont care. just some noise to do with foxes
