'Say It Saint So' - new blog

For some inexplicable reason I've decided to start writing a Saints blog entitled 'Say It Saint So'.

 

You know the drill by now; some of you will politely pledge to read it but probably won't bother, then I'll stop updating it in a month. Anyway, I thought I'd lob a link up on here just in case anybody's able to garner entertainment from my ramblings.

Easy to forget that if you discount the penalties, Lambert scored (including free-kicks) 12 PL goals in his first PL season and 8 in his second. That's precisely the same as Pelle even if he doesn't score again.

 

Granted Lambert occupied a creative role in the side as well and set plenty up too, but long story short; 15-20 PL goal per season strikers are hard to find and cost £20Mn at least if they're proven.

Sorry, while I agree he is not lazy as evidenced by him chasing balls down and tracking back a lot, to try and say he doesn't do too many flicks and tricks is something I can't agree with. I think even Ron came out and said that he would have to cut out the ridiculous back heels and such like.

Pelle comparisons with Lambert are not complete unless you speculate as to how many goal Pelle would have scored in the Championship and League 1 with the side we had. I would suggest that even without penalties and free kicks he would have scored as many, if not more.

Glad you lot are finding it worth a read. The spike in traffic would suggest that quite a few Saintsweb users had a browse! As I hinted at yesterday, I'm primarily writing for myself i.e. as an outlet - but if it finds an audience then so much the better.
