ladysaint Posted 13 March, 2016 Share Posted 13 March, 2016 Listening to Talksport on way back from Stoke it was mentioned that Southampton are Kingmakers of the PL. We could decide the top and bottom 3 as we still have to play Leicester, Man City, Tottenham, Newcastle, Villa and Palace. If we could choose I would like to see Leicester champions, followed by Man City and Spurs in third place. For relegation, Newcastle, Norwich unfortunately would have liked Villa to survive but think that is too late for the m now.
Badger Posted 13 March, 2016 Share Posted 13 March, 2016 Or put it another way, no easy games left for us as things stand today (although Villa might be beyond salvation when we play them). Hopefully we'll help scupper Poch.
angelman Posted 13 March, 2016 Share Posted 13 March, 2016 But as the old cliché goes, there are no easy games.
Deano6 Posted 16 March, 2016 Share Posted 16 March, 2016 Or put it another way, no easy games left for us as things stand today (although Villa might be beyond salvation when we play them). Yeah, but so what? We're not getting relegated, we're not winning the league or getting into Europe. Just enjoy the football on display each game and you don't have to worry about if we win or lose. In terms of 'kingmakers', we play Leicester 7th last and Spurs 2nd last. It's hardly a pivotal role (although I can see the appeal of trying to find something to spice up the rest of the season and make us relevant in some respect). I would say Chelsea playing Spurs 4th last and Leicester on the last game of the season are much more relevant than us.
BlakeySFC Posted 17 March, 2016 Share Posted 17 March, 2016 Really don't want to see Leicester win it, never liked them ever since our coaches got bricked at an FA Cup game up there in 2006, don't really want to see Spurs win it either as Poch will be so damn smug if they do. So yeah, City to win it would be my favourite scenario (looking unlikely at the minute) with Spurs 2nd and Leicester 3rd. Got nothing against any of the teams in the Relegation zone really, don't want to see any of them go down in an ideal world, probably Sunderland if I had to pick though as we've lost to them quite a few times in the past when we probably shouldn't of done and they've got that skate c_unt Defoe playing for them. Mr Biscuits Posted 17 March, 2016 Share Posted 17 March, 2016 I actually want Leicester to win it if only to prove that it can be done by other means than throwing money around with reckless abandon (see the skates for an example of how to screw up this strategy). I'm just bored to tears of seeing the same 6 teams sitting at the top of the PL and more competition can only be a good thing.
John Boy Saint Posted 17 March, 2016 Share Posted 17 March, 2016 Be nice to put a twist in everyone's knickers and beat them all, which in turn slides us nicely up the table into and around the top 4 and/or automatic European football. Resulting in a table that finishes with some unfamiliar faces in the top slots and a postmortem of epic proportions as Leicester, Spurs, West Ham (jeez that hurt) Us top the tree. With Man U (who are blowing hot and cold) Citeh (who with a fair CL draw could be distracted: plus Kompany is shot) Arsenal (who's season is in danger of fizzling out spectacularily: especially as they look fragile) and Liverpool (persueing the Europa success) scrap it out for Thursday night football. And just for fun Bournemouth get a cheeky run together and enter the fray like a young Jack Russell slipping the leash in a field of sheep. .............. Morning folks: I just had the weirdest dream.

Very mean spirited Blakey, of course it will be fantastic for English football and the Premier League in particular if Leicester and Tottenham finish 1,2 in either order. Great for fans everywhere and a real spur to all those also rans who habitually haunt the relegation region of the PL or the upper echelons of the Championship. gr00031 Posted 17 March, 2016 Share Posted 17 March, 2016 As long as we don't lose to Villa.. If we did, surely we'd have the worst return against Villa from sides in the top 10 this season? Need to win those games if you want to compete with the top

Need to win those games if you want to compete with the top From the teams who can possibly finish in the top 10: Man City, West Ham and Leicester have all already drawn with Villa, though City beat them in the return (twice including the FA Cup), West Ham beat them in the return and Leicester had already beaten them before the draw. So unless West Brom (who drew) or Bournemouth (lost on the opening day) fail to beat Villa but somehow get themselves into the top 10, as Newcastle and Sunderland (both drew) aren't going to, we would indeed have the worst record against Villa of a top 10 side if we lose or even draw with them. Assuming of course that we finish in the top 10 ourselves.

naiser Posted 17 March, 2016 Share Posted 17 March, 2016 I'd only take wins against the rest of the matches. Only interested in where we finish. Sent from my E5823 using Tapatalk
View From The Top Posted 17 March, 2016 Share Posted 17 March, 2016 I may be in a minority here but I've no issue with Spurs winning it. They play fantastic football with a core of young Englishman. So what if their gaffer was ours previously, what they've dished up this season has been great to watch.

Funnily enough I'm in agreement with this, I think they've been decent to watch and I still like Poch as a manager, like it or not Spurs were a step up with better resources and players which has been proven with them challenging for the title and us challenging for 7th again. If Spurs win then fair play to them, it'll be fans that will be insufferable.

I'm not particularly bothered, but of the top 6 my preferences are Leicester Man City Arsenal Spurs West Ham Man United in that order.
