Whitey Grandad Posted 16 March, 2016 Posted 16 March, 2016 Well, apologies about that! I made the assumption that a 1:30pm kickoff meant it was televised. It's on Sunday because Liverpool are playing in the Europa League Thursday night. I don't know where the 1:30 comes from.

Lets B Avenue Posted 16 March, 2016 Posted 16 March, 2016 probably so fans around the world can watch liverpool without it clashing with united/city Or so the fans can get home at a reasonable time? Oh. Sorry! Premier League? Don't know what came over me then.
Pamplemousse Posted 16 March, 2016 Posted 16 March, 2016 It's on Sunday because Liverpool are playing in the Europa League Thursday night. I don't know where the 1:30 comes from. Games on a Sunday either kick off at 1.30 or 4pm. Our game at Newcastle was a 1.30pm kick off even though it wasn't televised.

Pamplemousse Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 Not always. Some kick off at 15:00 and there have been other variations. They kick off at the same time the TV games start. I don't think any game has kicked off at 3pm on a Sunday this season.
JRM Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 Not always. Some kick off at 15:00 and there have been other variations. Yeah that used to be the case but hasn't happened for a couple of seasons now. I see the game is now a sell out, but the atmosphere is never great at these early Sunday kick offs. The Manchester derby will be decent to watch in town after our game.

Villa - Liverpool Sunday 4th Feb was 15:00 (on Sky). It's usually the games moved to a Sunday because of Europa League on a Thursday that can sometimes be 15:00 if they're not on TV.
igsey Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 Hoping Liverpool win tonight, they might then decide Europa is more important than the league and rest Firmino, maybe play a CB pairing of Lovren and Caulker

The9 Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 (edited) Games on a Sunday either kick off at 1.30 or 4pm. Our game at Newcastle was a 1.30pm kick off even though it wasn't televised. Not even remotely true. There are different kick off times when there are 3 matches televised than there are only 2 or 1 for a start. There have also been plenty of games not kicking off at the same time as televised Sunday matches in recent years. There have been a few more kickoffs in line with live matches despite the games not being televised recently, Not sure if the rules have changed or clubs just want to maintain a routine - I think the latter. The other reason kick off times on Sunday fluctuate is depending on the teams' kick off times for their fixtures either side and how much recovery time they can get in. Edited 17 March, 2016 by The9
diggers Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 I know it's via the ugly but this is actually with a couple of minutes.

If you read above you will see I corrected myself. The 'Super Sunday Hat-trick' of 3 games doesn't happen very often but on a standard Sunday, when Sky televise two live games, any other games which have been moved because of the Europa League will either kick off at 1.30pm or 4pm. No game this season has kicked off at 3pm on a Sunday, which was my original point anyway. The matches kick off in line with the TV games.
Pamplemousse Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 The Liverpool team tonight: Mignolet, Clyne, Lovren, Sakho, Milner, Can, Henderson, Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino, Sturridge. It'll be interesting to see if Nivea Boy plays the full 90.
Batman Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 (edited) United are all over Liverpool here Henderson is an absolute goat of a player Edited 17 March, 2016 by Batman
Batman Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 That is that. United were leaving loads of space for Liverpool and coutinho strolled in to make it 1-1 Rojo had to score that chance just before
Chalkboy Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 That is that. United were leaving loads of space for Liverpool and coutinho strolled in to make it 1-1 Rojo had to score that chance just before Utd's right back Varela is awful - (from what I've seen tonight) Their defence has been wide open - no defensive midfielder to protect them. Shame, I was hoping for extra time and penalties.

Pamplemousse Posted 17 March, 2016 Posted 17 March, 2016 He's played 90 minutes under Klopp plenty of times. But will he then start three days later?
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 18 March, 2016 Posted 18 March, 2016 Big game for us - Europa back on the horizon if we can pinch this one. Couple of other belting games Sunday - Spurs v Bournemouth at the top, and the Tyne/Wear derby at the bottom. Utd v City is almost a total irrelevance for a change.
Batman Posted 18 March, 2016 Posted 18 March, 2016 United are terrible. Quarter of a billion quid spent in the last 2 years and they look like that!!! Fellaini is an awful footballer too
sadoldgit Posted 18 March, 2016 Posted 18 March, 2016 Many clubs would like to have a terrible season and be where they are though.

fanimal Posted 18 March, 2016 Posted 18 March, 2016 Both Lawro and Steve Cram have us winning in their predictions…saying last nights game will have taken it out of them. Save Mane for the second half then.

Save Mane for the second half then. i don't buy this though, we've had games recently where Saints have had a break and yet we've looked the more tired team - Chelsea at home for example. I didn't see the 2nd half of last night's match, question for anyone who did see it - did Liverpool look comfortable or did United work them hard? Emre Can is a player who has impressed me recently, and their midfields ability to run with the ball worries me. We are definitely due a result against this lot at St Marys after the last few games so fingers crossed Lawro and Cram are right.

The game was dead at 1-1.

igsey Posted 18 March, 2016 Posted 18 March, 2016 Wanyama and Fonte back into the squad, though RK emphasised that Wanyama would be in the SQUAD not the TEAM. JRod will play 90 minutes with the U21s, Austin available after the international break.

Only saw the second half, they passed and moved with pace, exploiting the spaces out wide. They looked decent, it will be interesting to see if we give them the same sort of space by playing three at the back.
Sour Mash Posted 18 March, 2016 Posted 18 March, 2016 I think Liverpool look very good currently, Klopp is really stamping his mark on them and while they're still a bit inconsistent and we'll give them a good go, I'm expecting a tight defeat.

Just my opinion, but Countinho was by far Liverpool's best player, although I confess I was more mesmerised by how poor Man Utd looked and I honestly can't believe they're as high in the table as they are. They were awful. Fellaini is atrocious, but by no means was he alone in that team in being so.

doddisalegend Posted 19 March, 2016 Posted 19 March, 2016 Had a dream that JWP scored a header from open play. 1-0 Saints! Bloody hell they really would be one of those " I was there" moments..
doddisalegend Posted 19 March, 2016 Posted 19 March, 2016 MUST WIN Really? I'd like to win (even if it's just to keep the plastic pool fans at work quiet) but even if we beat them they will no doubt win their games in hand and it is so tight around us I still can't see us finishing 6th/7th. Coupled with the fact the FA cup winners are unlikely to be in the top six this season I think Europe is probably gone so really the season is just playing for place money.

suewhistle Posted 19 March, 2016 Posted 19 March, 2016 Had a dream that JWP scored a header from open play. 1-0 Saints! What sort of record do you have with your dreams' accuracy? Or are they all wishful thinking... ;-) I was there when Benali scored - had a great view from the East stand - so I look forward to it into the Chapel goal tomorrow.
