S-Clarke Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 Maybe we should buy a couple of Icelanders I'm sure Charlton and Cardiff would advise us not to.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 I'm quite oxcited about the new season, I reckon our transfers in will be aok Mr Rooney... You have previous on this... Fairly sure you called the Charlie Austin transfer first... Really hope this is true! Looking back, he called the Austin transfer on 14th Dec 2015... Charlie Austin 8 mill, just what we need ;) I am now officially hopeful (after a brief period of England-related misery)
Ed Rooney Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 Mr Rooney... You have previous on this... Fairly sure you called the Charlie Austin transfer first... Really hope this is true! I did indeed
Saint IQ Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 we wont sign OxO. we will try and get out gunned by West Ham or Everton and that will be that we will get someone from France to replace Mane Maybe he wants to come back and get European football. Looking at the odds for his next club Leicester seem a more likely destination than those two.
CB Fry Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 we wont sign OxO. we will try and get out gunned by West Ham or Everton and that will be that we will get someone from France to replace Mane This. Les will probably do one of his many YouTube interviews where he tells us all that the signing is in the bag at the same time that Oxo is being driven up the M6.
Wimborne_saint Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 Get French Football @GFFN Claude Puel wants to bring Hatem Ben Arfa with him to Southampton... More to follow tomorrow.
Badger Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 Surprised we haven't been linked to the little winger from Midgytland, Pione Sisto, who played against us last year. He received some good right ups after they beat Man Utd and has been linked with a move to a bigger league.
Saint Matty 76 Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 Get French Football @GFFN 7m7 minutes ago Claude Puel wants to bring Hatem Ben Arfa with him to Southampton... More to follow tomorrow. Obvious link and not sure there's anything to it but he's really turned himself around in France. Ended up with 17 goals in 33 games from attacking midfield. On a free as well would be a great signing, adds the unpredictability we lose with Mane.

Doesn t defend tries to take on everyone on his own, failed here in the past and only succeeded in France because there is a lot of space there.

ADutchSaint Posted 27 June, 2016 Posted 27 June, 2016 The French league is the land of hope is it seems after Kante and Payet. Sure there are good players in that league but it's getting a bit ridiculous cause the league ain't that good and is by far the weakest from the big leagues in Europe.

pangy Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Ben Arfa was quality last season, would be well happy wit that, plays in the AM role so would fit in nicely
tajjuk Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Oxlaide Chamberlain and Schneiderlin back and I think no fan would complain about our transfers.
SuperSAINT Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Oxlaide Chamberlain and Schneiderlin back and I think no fan would complain about our transfers. Completely unrealistic.... But would be amazing!
Verbal Kint Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Oxlaide Chamberlain and Schneiderlin back and I think no fan would complain about our transfers. I don't know why people think we can get Morgan back. He left for a huge wage and he won't be giving that up to come back. We can't afford him

We can't afford him He's on what maybe £100k a week?, we could easily offer him £70-80K I reckon and it would be totally worth it, plus better than him sitting on the bench. Who knows, maybe his priorities will have changed and he's realised the grass isn't always greener. If as claimed he's surplus to requirements then he's going to have to take a pay cut to move to anyone as it's unlikely he'll get another big/top four club.
saint-crinny Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Berahino? Great talent, terrible attitude. Hardly think this site is gospel, but ultimately, if he did come and we got him playing to his potential, he's an exciting player. We'd get a couple of good seasons out of him before he decided he was too good for us I expect, which is pretty standard these days. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/west-bromwich-albion-fc/2016/06/28/west-brom-transfer-news-southampton-want-to-replace-sadio-mane-with-saido-berahino/
tajjuk Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Talented player, but not sure he fits our profile of player. I think this is more Saints have cash -> who can we link him to. Also interesting we are now 'cash rich', apparently we had no transfer funds before selling Mane.

Jose has, according to the press, already said Morgan isn't in his plans. So if he wants to play he will have to move and take a pay cut. No big clubs will likely be interested so why not come back here we could offer him Mane's contract and regular game time. I guess Morgan might feel like coming back represents failure but I reckon saints fans would welcome him back with open arms

I guess Morgan might feel like coming back represents failure but I reckon saints fans would welcome him back with open arms I certainly would and we were prepared to give Mane the biggest saints contract ever, so why not give that to Morgan. We need some names, I know we shouldn't buy just on 'names' but if those names are also quality players like Morgan and the Ox are, then they would go a long way to comforting the fans to bring those two fan favourites back. A statement of 'Intent' if you like. Plus both might be more reluctant to hop off to the next big club that comes knocking.

Everton... He has spent his career trying to get his big move, now that he's had it I'm not sure you'll see the same level of performance from him that we saw when he was here, and I don't think he's worked that hard for that contract to then take a pay cut 12 months later. And his ego would not let him come back
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 About to sign a player for the future. V highly rated and not sure we've had a player of this nationality before. In your opinion is he one for the first team squad this season or will he be a part of the Academy?
doddisalegend Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 About to sign a player for the future. V highly rated and not sure we've had a player of this nationality before. Chinese? Break the Asian market
TK8267 Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 About to sign a player for the future. V highly rated and not sure we've had a player of this nationality before. American? Just basing that on current commercial expansion.

mrfahaji Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 American? Just basing that on current commercial expansion. Kasey Keller.
Window Cleaner Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Expen$ive? It's not Musa is it? (Nigerian?) Can't think that we've not had Nigerians before now. Pretty sure we had a couple of Chinese blokes who never made the grade as well. Wasn't Reuben a Nigerian ?

saint-crinny Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Partey from Athletico? Have we had a Ghanaian before? Can't think of any
Beckenham Saint Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Expen$ive? It's not Musa is it? (Nigerian?) I think his agent has confirmed that we've not bid for him but someone from the Premier League has...

ErwinK1961 Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 U21's I reckon. Was it the lad from the Man City u21's you mentioned before?
Saint Garrett Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Would be nice to hear something from Guan or K Billy, it seems they've been summoned to silence!

SuperSAINT Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 Was it the lad from the Man City u21's you mentioned before? So possibly a City youngster who plays for a country that we haven't had a player from? Bersant Celina (Kosovo?)
ErwinK1961 Posted 28 June, 2016 Posted 28 June, 2016 So possibly a City youngster who plays for a country that we haven't had a player from? Bersant Celina (Kosovo?) Apparently he signed a new 4 year deal in May... so probably not him!

Apparently has a 3 year contract offer from Sevilla, but will listen to Southampton's last minute offer because he credits Puel as the man that turned his career around and discussions are beginning today.
