Saints Transfers Thread - Deadline Day

Saint Charlie

Recommended Posts

I'm quite oxcited about the new season, I reckon our transfers in will be aok

Mr Rooney... You have previous on this... Fairly sure you called the Charlie Austin transfer first...

Really hope this is true!

Looking back, he called the Austin transfer on 14th Dec 2015...

Charlie Austin 8 mill, just what we need ;););)

I am now officially hopeful (after a brief period of England-related misery)

we wont sign OxO.

we will try and get out gunned by West Ham or Everton and that will be that

we will get someone from France to replace Mane

Maybe he wants to come back and get European football. Looking at the odds for his next club Leicester seem a more likely destination than those two.

This.

Les will probably do one of his many YouTube interviews where he tells us all that the signing is in the bag at the same time that Oxo is being driven up the M6.

Surprised we haven't been linked to the little winger from Midgytland, Pione Sisto, who played against us last year. He received some good right ups after they beat Man Utd and has been linked with a move to a bigger league.

Claude Puel wants to bring Hatem Ben Arfa with him to Southampton...

More to follow tomorrow.

Obvious link and not sure there's anything to it but he's really turned himself around in France. Ended up with 17 goals in 33 games from attacking midfield. On a free as well would be a great signing, adds the unpredictability we lose with Mane.

God know. Doesn t defend tries to take on everyone on his own, failed here in the past and only succeeded in France because there is a lot of space there.

I don't know why people think we can get Morgan back. He left for a huge wage and he won't be giving that up to come back. We can't afford him

The money they make on transfer fees these days would go some way towards his lose of earnings at United.

He's on what maybe £100k a week?, we could easily offer him £70-80K I reckon and it would be totally worth it, plus better than him sitting on the bench.

Who knows, maybe his priorities will have changed and he's realised the grass isn't always greener. If as claimed he's surplus to requirements then he's going to have to take a pay cut to move to anyone as it's unlikely he'll get another big/top four club.

Berahino? Great talent, terrible attitude.

Hardly think this site is gospel, but ultimately, if he did come and we got him playing to his potential, he's an exciting player. We'd get a couple of good seasons out of him before he decided he was too good for us I expect, which is pretty standard these days.

Talented player, but not sure he fits our profile of player.

I think this is more Saints have cash -> who can we link him to.

Also interesting we are now 'cash rich', apparently we had no transfer funds before selling Mane.

Pretty much this. Jose has, according to the press, already said Morgan isn't in his plans. So if he wants to play he will have to move and take a pay cut. No big clubs will likely be interested so why not come back here we could offer him Mane's contract and regular game time. I guess Morgan might feel like coming back represents failure but I reckon saints fans would welcome him back with open arms

I certainly would and we were prepared to give Mane the biggest saints contract ever, so why not give that to Morgan.

We need some names, I know we shouldn't buy just on 'names' but if those names are also quality players like Morgan and the Ox are, then they would go a long way to comforting the fans to bring those two fan favourites back. A statement of 'Intent' if you like.

Plus both might be more reluctant to hop off to the next big club that comes knocking.

There are 1 or 2 clubs i can think of that could pay his wages and I'd bet he ends up at one of them rather than us if he was to leave. Everton...

He has spent his career trying to get his big move, now that he's had it I'm not sure you'll see the same level of performance from him that we saw when he was here, and I don't think he's worked that hard for that contract to then take a pay cut 12 months later. And his ego would not let him come back
