SaintSeb Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Looks like the kind of player we need to get us out of the predicament what we are in. I chuckled
Turkish Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Looks like the kind of player we need to get us out of the predicament what we are in. Is he a good director of football as well?
Saint_clark Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Know nothing about him, who is he, what does he do, why are people excited?
Saint Albert Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 According to Get French Football on twitter: "Breaking | Southampton are to sign Mario Lemina from Juventus for €18m, player to undergo a medical in the next 48 hrs, according to RMC."

Saint_clark Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 According to whoscored.com he plays as a defensive midfielder, that'd be a most welcome addition.
shurlock Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 HURRAH The best midfield in the league just got better.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Don't know much about him but reading up on him and looking at the mandatory YouTube compilation he seems to have the attributes we are missing and the ones we desperately need. Who is leaving then? No way we keep all our midfielders if he comes in.
shurlock Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 According to whoscored.com he plays as a defensive midfielder, that'd be a most welcome addition. Appears more box-to-box which we've desperately needed even when Wanyama was here.

Who is leaving then? No way we keep all our midfielders if he comes in. Clasie seems the obvious candidate, been left out quite a lot. I'd prefer to loan him out, we'll need a replacement for Davis in a season or two and i've always liked Clasie playing further forward.
saint1977 Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 According to whoscored.com he plays as a defensive midfielder, that'd be a most welcome addition. Amen to that.

Can't see that happening here, unfortunately for him.
Bad Wolf Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 A poor man's pogba. Weirdly, a poor man's Pogba sounds better than a rich man's Pogba. **** knows what I mean by that.
Lorne Malvo Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Jesus, Lemina. Class I know...can't see him signing for us :/
Pamplemousse Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Lemina's already in England as Juventus are playing at Wembley tonight
Saint Albert Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 He punched someone in the nuts once. If he signs for us, the bastard probably deserved it.
James Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Great stuff, if this comes off then hats off to Les.
gammon cheeks Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 He punched someone in the nuts once. Maybe he could do that to Virgil:lol:
Pamplemousse Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Sounds like Stoke, Everton and West Ham amongst others wanted him too. Maybe, for once, we outbid the other teams. Also, reading the Stoke forum, they are having a shambolic transfer window. They haven't signed anyone, and the fans are getting restless.

Yorkshire Saint Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Mario Lemina incoming from Juventus 18/20 million fee agreed subject to medical
Pamplemousse Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Italian press reporting this one as a done deal. 18 million euros up front, 2 million in add ons.
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 http://gianlucadimarzio.com/it/calciomercato-southampton-trattativa-chiusa-per-lemina-le-cifre Seems done. Well that came from nowhere.

Shroppie Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 (edited) Anyone know what sort of player he is?Tall. Strong. Ball winner, good distribution. Sounds like perfect partner for Romeu. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk Edited 5 August, 2017 by Shroppie
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 So we're not getting Ross Barkley then? He's not good enough for us Apparently.
Bad Wolf Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Tall. Strong. Ball winner, good distribution. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk We need a proper "assist" getter. Is he that sort?
S-Clarke Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 We need a proper "assist" getter. Is he that sort? Don't think he can be classed as an attacking midfielder, he's more of a powerful DM, box to box type.

shurlock Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 We need a proper "assist" getter. Is he that sort? He's a bit more box to box -can actually take the ball and drive forward with it from central positions. Hopefully that'll make us a bit less predictable and less reliant on going sideways and throwing crosses into the box.

Hopefully that'll make us a bit less predictable and less reliant on going sideways and throwing crosses into the box. Don't know much about him, but reading up on him and watching a few youtube clips (as is standard..) he looks bang on what we need alongside Romeu. And probably the sort of player we've needed for at least the last couple of seasons.
Saint Mikey Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 According to Wiki we have been trailing him since 2015. Also been managed by Bielsa, so Pellegrino could have sought his advice.

This is a decent write up (note he's not overly physical according to this): http://frenchfootballweekly.com/2015/09/01/will-juventus-take-mario-lemina-to-the-next-level/ Edited 5 August, 2017 by shurlock
Gingar Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Looks like a decent signing, our starting midfielders are all pretty good technically but none of them have the pace or power to really break through the oppositions midfield. Seeing as we would never pay the going rate for a true number 10 this is probably the next best thing, having a midfielder that gives the opposition something to think about when going forward, even if it isn't for his goal scoring ability
northam soul Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Don't think he can be classed as an attacking midfielder, he's more of a powerful DM, box to box type. Carlton Palmer

"From Turin to England, Southampton: Mario Lemina's future is all English. In particular, ESPN filters how the negotiation is now closed. Additionally, we add other confirmations regarding the details of the deal: for a € 18 million deal plus two bonuses related to attendance. And so the Southampront beats Stoke City at the final sprint. Expecting medical visits this Monday. In a choice made by the player, strongly wanted by Pellegrino.b" Courtesy of google translate

SNSUN Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 If Lemina is true, and we can get him over the line by midweek, it'll be a big lift for the club and fans. I wouldn't be surprised to see a behind closed doors friendly to ease him in. Definitely seems like the sort of player we'd sign. Good things come to those who wait?

davefizzy14 Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Yes please!! If we can get this over the line, this will send out a message that we mean business
View From The Top Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 I think most of us said all of last season that OR needed a partner and it appears that he's about to get one. It looks like a classic Saints signing. Young, talented, lost his way a bit and with a point to prove.
Toadhall Saint Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Here's a recent bit on Lamina: http://outsideoftheboot.com/2017/07/11/scout-report-mario-lemina-juventus-midfield-dynamo-outcast/ Sounds exactly like what we need.
magnet Posted 5 August, 2017 Posted 5 August, 2017 Lemina is a box to box midfielder with a 90% pass accuracy has saints little black box done it again. Just what we need.
