Insigne is more of a West Ham/Stoke/Everton signing. Despite the 'vocal minority' our fans are reasonably happy to trust the club and don't expect too many 'statement' signings. Don't think we'll sign any big name players this summer but doesn't mean we won't bring in a little bit more quality.

its probably someone that still hasnt been mentioned, the only one we were linked with that we actually signed so far is pied and probs b/c he played for puel at nice and not because of any other solid hint. defo better to be surprised IMO.

Just out of curiosity, did leicester bring in any Big Name signings prior to last season start?

This season standard response to everything ????

No but they did sign a full back on a free transfer.

They did nothing to demonstrate "ambition" and no one on this forum expressed any jealousy of their window activity last summer while there was plenty of wailing about Stoke and Palace and Newcastle.

Some din will be here in a minute saying that they "kept all their players" conveniently ignoring they'd finished 14th the previous season with the likes of Vardy not actually wanted by anyone (that'll be the five goals all season before).

Leicester this time last year were pretty much identical to us in our second season back. Back up, finished 14th, no one spectacular enough to attract any attention from the big clubs. The main difference is while we were led by the world's most driven and ambitious chairman in sporting history spent big on three expensive players and we finished eighth, Leicester weren't and won the whole freaking league.

I assume you are alluding to Cortese, the 3 players were? Osvaldo Ramirez, and? Im sure there will be one but i cant recall. I thnk it is hard to criticise a Chairman who backed the manager with money, Cortese would not have chosen the players, but les, Mitchell and of course the manager. You have to consider that whilst it was ML and his money,NC was the man who convinced Marcus about the great invesment.

Leicester had of course been on a championship winning run at the end of the season previous. i think also there was talk of us being interested in Vardy.

I mentioned him last season, but having watched the game last night it reminded me of what a prospect Oliver Burke looks. Pace to burn and now he's filled out a little he is now even more of a threat. Perhaps not ready for the prem yet, but maybe a loan back deal would work here.

Insigne or Hernandez would be amazing signings. I can't see it happening this week - would have been stunning to get Hernandez in and ready for the Man U game, but things don't happen that way in the real world. lol

We need some reinforcements. Where are they?

Lot of money going into the bank accounts of our owner people.

Not much spent.

No quality replacements for Pelle, Mané or Wanyama yet.

Redmond is no striker, or Mane I'm afraid.

New managers start last weekend shows lots of pressing high tempo play but no clinical striker or target man. We looked cobbled together rather than drilled.

I'm more concerned this year than the last 3 years.... I think we could do a Swansea.

Too much reliance on kids in the early season will make this a bottom half finish season Possibly. Unless the owner spends the money (frankly ££ from the last 3 seasons we have had, let alone this one!)

I'm also not yet convinced by our managerial choice.

So, here we go. No spending, unproven manager, kids, Les' choice of bargain basement players rather than our managers - here we go again.

Should be a top 4 finish!!!!

Wont lie had heard of it but not seen much, watched him first game of the season and he looked a real prospect. Very direct, good movement off the ball, decent delivery and a finish in him. Perhaps a touch raw and Forest unlikely to sell cheap but hopefully we are at least keeping a watching brief. I wouldn't be too shocked if we resurrected our move for Solly March while we are talking championship.

I had those exact same thoughts watching the game last night. Looks a real talent.

No, they didn't, except Kante, Okazaki and Huth (and a couple of others who actually didn't do much). Yes they also signed Fuchs on a free (loaned the previous season), didn't turn out too badly. Perhaps Kante and Okazaki were not big names at the time but it is a myth that continues to be peddled that Leicester were not very active in the 2015 summer transfer window. They also demonstrated their ambition by appointing Ranieri. This all came on the back of course of a run of results in the second half of the previous season that was as good as anyone, so it was no great surprise to those who had watched that they did well last season, maybe not many predicted they would win the league, but the signs of ambition and progress were clearly there for anyone who wanted to see.

Talk about rewriting history .

Ranieri was not the ambitious choice , he was a busted flush having been sacked by Greece . This forum would have been in meltdown if we'd replaced Poch with him .

I seem to remember reading somewhere, Ranieri was our first choice before Koeman but he wanted to stay with Greece at the time. Can't remember where the story originated from or how true it is.

You are right though .... this forum would indeed have gone into major meltdown, had it happened !!

It really wouldn't. A few would have said he's too old and wanted some mythical guy who stays 20 years, some would have been very happy with it and some works have wrongly said he's not that good, such as me.

Same way plenty thought koeman and poch would be poor appointments. I don't remember any appointment being completely positively received.

Come on, this place would have gone bat mental if he was our MP replacement. Don't hide from that fact.

Even the Leicester forums went into meltdown on the back of his appointment. There would have been very few for the appointment, which shows how wrong as football fans we often are.

Simultaneously rewriting history and accusing others of myth making in the same post, astonishing stuff if it wasn't coming from the man who in January said we might not win one more game in the entire season and Newcastle would finish above us.

But you've been very clear in your thoughts and we now all know that your idea of title-winning mega-ambition in the transfer market is a free transfer full back, Stoke's third choice Centre back and a couple of players for seven/eight million quid.

Perfect. Fair to say that kind of reach-for-the-stars eye watering ambition is completely beyond skinflint gutless Southampton. But I guess we can only dream.

As I recall, Koeman was very positively received and his appointment certainly lifted fans' spirits again after the losss of Pochettino. An equivalent appointment this summer would have been Frank de Boer.

Certainly see us going for a 5'10 fast left sided midfielder that can put the ball in the back of the net.

Don't need a target man with this system as Austin can be that route one striker like Pelle was.

Forestieri refused to play for Sheffield Wednesday today, would anyone want him here? Looks a threat every time I've seen him play albeit in the championship.

I'd like to think we're aiming for players a fair few levels above him.

He's going to Derby anyway.

So you're correct from his comments that we are not after a striker but typical Sky interpret "striker" as an attacker. I think we are definitely after a creator at the tip of this so called diamond. Boufal is the obvious one but the concern is we do not have enough feeders for the strikers.

That is fcking ludicrous. Want to give him a chance, his pedigree seems fine but christ, playing 2 up front and being happy with what we've got is suicide. Unless he's been told we're broke and aim for lower mid table? I have no idea what our aims are anymore.

We have no idea if Long will ever get more than 10, he's only reached that once. Redmond's first season as a striker, Austin lacking pace and Rodriguez battling to still be a footballer at all. Who are we after then? A no10? Then where does Tadic play? Or are we just after a back up no10?

We have 4 strikers of prem level though.

It's sky being idiots and not knowing the difference between a striker, which Puel said we don't want, and a forward which we seemingly do.

Highly debateable, and of the four only Austin is a proven goalscorer.

For all his energy Long's record is a goal every four games. As far as Rodriguez is concerned we've no idea how he'll be if fit again.Redmond, too soon to tell.

Use some of the warchest we've gathered over the last 3 summers and go and get Benteke.

Benteke would fail here for the same reason we has failed at Liverpool. What would be the point of signing a player for a team that won't play to his strengths?

Based on one game, that's ridiculous! fair enough judge Puel after 10 games maybe, but after one game totally unfair! Players clearly coming to terms with new formation
