Stoke build- up

Any decent pubs near the ground?

The only one near the ground is the Harvester, right outside, but it'll be busy and you won't get in unless you're early.

The Glebe, near the station if you're arriving by train is the best beer.

The Fenton Bowling Club is a 20 min walk from the ground and reasonable. And away fan friendly.

Big game for Yoshida to show he is even an able deputy after some of his recent performances.

Do feel a lack of regular football makes it difficult for him and he seems a great guy and good pro.

But - is he really good enough to be a third CB for a team chasing Europe?

Absolutely not.

Makes a mistake that costs a goal in nearly every game he plays.

I don't think Stoke, WHU or Liverpool are after Yoshida TBH......

Joking aside I don't think a lot of fans realise how lack of game time effects players people just expect players to start playing after weeks of little or no game time and be top of their game.

Absolute ******. Yes he has made mistakes that have led to goals (twice as I recall). I also recall that VVD and Fonte have made similar errors but by good fortune - not skill - they did not result in goals conceded. Yosh is a very good centre back who has paid the price for being played out of position. That's a credit to his adaptability and not a criticism of RK's tram selection.

Come on, he isn't a very good centre back, open your eyes.

Yoshida isn't great, but how many good back up Centre Backs are out there. Look through the Premier League, its a weak position all round.

The problem with Yoshida is he gives away at least one goal scoring opportunity a game. At this level that usually gets punished, he's decent enough for most of the game but seems to suffer from lapses in concentration or plain on stupidity. He could arguably have cost us two penalties recently away at Swansea and home to west ham where he made clumsy and unessasary challenges. I agree with you though its a problem for most clubs , even Man United with all there money don't have a decent centre half between them and Carrick there is ridiculous, IMO one of the best midfielders in the league being played out of positions weakens them in two positions not just one.

Yoshida is a honest enough bloke but really he is a poor player for the prem league .....always got a mistake in him im afraid.

Didn't do too badly in the last game against West Ham if I recall, but the trolls are out in force tonight :mcinnes:

Having a different opinion to you doesn't mean I'm a troll, it's what a forum is about, debate.

Fonte whilst just one players, brings considerably more. His leadership and organisational skills are so important. Yoshida lacks any consistency. A great guy, but makes too many mistakes. I agree that these mistakes would reduce if he played week in week out. I am not optimistic and predict more misery.

I really had great hope of a European spot, but by virtue of bad luck and poor managerial decisions, I've really lost interest.

That's actually an excellent point. When Yoshida had a decent run as a starter he improved massively, now he's essentially a backup player he struggles. Hardly surprising really.

Up here in Shropshire the sun is shining. It's getting warmer and so the omens are looking good for us.Saints to win this one.

That's good. I have a theory that Pelle (and maybe Tadic) are cold-blooded and when the weather's bad their metabolism slows to nothing, making it, in Pelle's case, impossible for him to move.

Let's hope a warmer day might just wake them up.

Your final sentence really is a shower of nonsense - we are having the season which reflects our level......a bad run where we haven't played that badly then a really good run where we have had our share of luck. To claim we have missed out on Europa League through bad luck and Ronald's bad decisions is crazy. To lose interest as a supporter is also a bit naff.

It's the hope that kills you.

The unfair dismissal of Wanyama, the return of Pelle, the return of Tadic, the injury to Long, the return of Martinez, the red card of Fonte, the loss of confidence by Forster, the injury to Cedric, the disappearance of Targett, the tinkering, strange substitutions, average slow football

Yeah I can see why I've lost interest.

Who do West Ham and Stoke have as third choice?

Andy; hang in there. Sure, dips in form and defeats like Bournmouth are hard to take, but the "bounce back within 24 hours" maxim is crucial. Cast your mind back a few years to 'Arry consigning us to League 1 and the dark days before Markus' arrival. Do not lose interest - you've got all Summer to do that!
