Where are the next points coming from?

No bed wetting here – just my two pence.

Next up is Stoke.

In Saints' current form, I can only see we'll get turned over at the Britannia, which is notoriously our bogey ground.

Then we host Liverpool and we all know what happened last time they came to St Mary's.

Leicester. I'm sure their title charge will still be in effect as they've got the benefit of their rivals playing European fixtures.

Everyone will expect three points from Newcastle but I reckon McClaren will be gone and they may benefit from new manager syndrome. Their record is poor at St Mary's but records are their to be broken.

As I said, we're not playing THAT well and everything could change in the next game but, if you go back to the Chelsea build-up thread, I stressed how important it was to beat them as the last time we went on a winning streak, only to lose, we went on a horrendous run and that's the last thing we want at this stage of the season.

I said much the same before the Chelsea game and a couple of incidents in that game completely dented our confidence.

But similar worries were voiced when we were facing a toughest run including Man U and Arsenal away, and we then we set off on a good run. So who knows.

We'll miss Jose for a couple of games, but Wanyama must nearly be back. Long should be recovered by next week and JRod is getting there. Get Targett back too.

Back to the 3 5 2 and hope that VVD can carry Yoshida.

So you think we have a bogey ground that will continue

Newcastle's bogey ground is a 'record to be broken'

The pessimist logic!

We were top of current form 8 days ago and easily could have got something from Chelsea. Bournemouth was dreadful but been a weird streaky season - Stoke were getting beaten 3-0 three games on trot.

Having said that I don't see us getting anything next week but we will do Liverpool against the odds.

I'm pretty sure we beat them up there last season in the cup just after beating them SMS.

I think 50 points will be our absolute maximum

10th place finish for us IMO

I was thinking this last night. 50 points minimum should be the aim. I think any season

Where we pass 50 points can only be seen as a decent effort really. Just being realistic.

It'd be fabulous that wouldn't it. 10th place in around clubs like Everton and Stoke and Watford, clubs you dream we could be like. You must be over the moon that we're matching those clubs that you've been lauding all season.

We will pick up a few more points, 10th place will do. It's been a frustrating season but we have been due one. Hopefully the board are busy plotting for our summer signings. I think once we shift Pelle, Mane and Wanyama we can do another decent rebuild.

I've been so impressed with Romeu I really don't think losing Wanyama would be much of a blow. The bottom line is him and Mane haven't looked interested for months.

Just the one game ban for José isn't it?

Pis taking of Batman aside, it would be fabulous. When was the last time this club achieved three consecutive top 10 finishes in the top flight? European qualification would be nice, but some people need to be a little realistic. We might scrape in there and we might not.

Interesting piece on Sky that works out where everybody will finish if they repeat the results against the teams that they're left to play. We only took 4 points from the teams who we still have to play. If we repeat this then we'll make the biggest slide in the league, finishing below Bournemouth and 3 places above the drop on 45 points. Leicester will win the league with 3 games to go. Spurs will slip to 4th. Arsenal and Man City will finish 2nd and 3rd with WHU pipping Man Ure to 5th. Bottom 3 is Villa, Sunderland and Norwich.

As they love their stats did they show percentage of games that match the outcome of the corresponding fixture? I guess not

For the 10 teams we have played twice so far the same outcome has only happened once - Swansea. So a whopping 10%

there are some really irritating ****s on this thread. usual suspects.

personally i think aroun 12-13 points would be a decent haul and a respectable finish. Whilst playing 3 at the back is making us considerably more resillient, i fear that we are far too defensive. If RK sticks to this formation next season then there will need to be significant changes to plaing staff.

Very significant, but it rather spoils their pseudo-statistics.

We may well pick up...... some more points ... maybe one at a time.....

...but if the question were ...." Where is the next win coming from ? " ......on the strength of the last three performances ....and the injury list ...and the key players out of form....we may have to wait to see next season's fixture list before answering that one.

Looking at the remaining fixtures..... I'm not at all convinced that there is a b*g certain three points from any of the games..

For as long as I have supported this club we have picked up points from unlikely teams and dropped them against poor sides. I expect this to continue until I croak.

A statement which could be made about pretty much any team or individual in any sport in history, if we're being honest.

FWIW I believe we are due a win at Stoke.Like other 'records' they are there to be broken. With a little bit of luck I can honestly see us edging this one. As for the Liverhampton game as long as we don't have Clattenberg or Friend we can beat them too.

Optimism uber alles.

COYS.

Oh, and there's me thinking we had a history prior to the Premier League.

How can it be a bogey ground for our team when none of our team were playing?

Nothing to do with the Premier League.

Even though Jose has been a regular in our team since League One days?.......?

Appy is technically right as we didn't play Stoke in the league until we were promoted to the Premier League in 2012. They went up 2007/08 season, the year we stayed up on the final day.

In terms of bogey grounds/teams, it is entirely superstitious and Saints have, in the past, suffered a lot from this, IMO.

Yeah times have changed in terms of our squad improving dramatically over the past few years but there were times where you'd go to Old Trafford, Villa Park, Anfield, Upton Park (maybe a bad example), Highfield Road etc and expect absolutely nothing.

Now the league is a lot closer and anyone can beat anybody but I still think bogey grounds still exist for teams, regardless of the current squad. It's like it's instilled within the DNA.

Isn't Goodison Park our ultimate bogey ground ?
