ladysaint Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 Not before time too. I am not sure why we never had a museum of some type at SMS, we did try but it never seemed to get anywhere. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-35706968
bpsaint Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 Very good idea this, means more people will actually use the sea city museum too which by all accounts it is in need of!
Hatch Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 don't want to put a downer on it, but I expect it would just be filled with tacky junk, and nothing of any real significance.

To be fair we haven't got much silverware to display!
Mowgli Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 To be fair we haven't got much silverware to display! To be fair, most museums celebrate the history of the club and include items that can sometimes trigger a happy memory. For example, the Old Trafford museum has a grey away shirt that was unique in that it was the only time they changed their shirts and half time... (....and still lost)
JRM Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 To be fair we haven't got much silverware to display! you don't need silverware to have a museum, you just need to have memorabilia and an interesting history , and that we certainly have over the 130 years as a football club. I've been to many across Europe ranging from Ajax interactive experience with videos to Athletico Madrid which had fantastic photography over the years and a huge ticket stub display of big games they had been involved in. We could have a section of famous players who have played for us, kits, programmes, grounds we've played in , would get quite a few visitors from away fans as well i'm sure. This is a good idea, hope they manage to do it well.
Golden Balls Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 Not sure what it'll include. Maybe formation of the club, 1976, 1982, JPT, promotions, The Dell, Matt Le Tissier, Charles Miller, Keegan, Ted Bates, Markus, Academy, European games. What else? ladysaint Posted 4 March, 2016 Author Share Posted 4 March, 2016 I would love to see a complete collection of shirts/kits on display.
The9 Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 If they can manage an exhibition of Newport County AFC memorabilia in Newport with their history of doing nothing much, they can sure as hell find stuff for a Southampton exhibition in Southampton. explorer saint Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 Shouldn't this be at St Mary's not the Sea City Museum thou
Turkish Posted 4 March, 2016 Share Posted 4 March, 2016 I'd like to see a tribute to all the great chairman we've had. Alan Woodfords cigars and brandy glasses, guy Askhams biscuit tin, Rupert's shooting jacket, the saints go wilde t-shirts and of course homage to Corteses built up shoes. We could've had Cortese's spoon too, if someone hadn't stolen it.
