Mr Dad Posted 3 March, 2016 Posted 3 March, 2016 Looks as though Spitfires might be flying on Satuday during Sunderland game. 80th aniversary. One is going to Pompey unfortunately. I don't know the timings etc but does anyone have an idea if we are likely to see them? It'll make a change from the FlyBe planes!
Mr Dad Posted 3 March, 2016 Author Posted 3 March, 2016 I've requested a flypast from Solent Sky Museum ansd Eastleigh airport who have organized the flights. Doubt if they will do it but its worth a try!
explorer saint Posted 3 March, 2016 Posted 3 March, 2016 No the timings are between 1100- 1200 across Weston and Netley

markr27 Posted 3 March, 2016 Posted 3 March, 2016 leave beastleigh at 1100hrs - the other two are due to arrive at southampton around 1530 I think. All weather dependant, especially the PM flight as it is arriving from Kent.

Would be a humane gesture to just send 30 fully laden B52s to Pompey...
Charlie Wayman Posted 4 March, 2016 Posted 4 March, 2016 Would be a humane gesture to just send 30 fully laden B52s to Pompey... Is there any significance in the number 30?

Greenridge Posted 4 March, 2016 Posted 4 March, 2016 They squeezed an extra flight in today. It took off at 10am. Probably up in the blue skies now for anyone local.

Mr Dad Posted 4 March, 2016 Author Posted 4 March, 2016 There's a Spitfire taking off from Biggin Hill at 4pm and flying over Mayflower Park. If we are lucky..........
alpine_saint Posted 5 March, 2016 Posted 5 March, 2016 There's a Spitfire taking off from Biggin Hill at 4pm and flying over Mayflower Park. If we are lucky.......... Yes, I suspect they will make a minor diversion.
Toadhall Saint Posted 5 March, 2016 Posted 5 March, 2016 Seen the first one a bit earlier - good stuff
BallBoy Posted 5 March, 2016 Posted 5 March, 2016 Had on fly right down my road, TWICE. I know nothing engines, aerodynamics or engineering but they are just a joy to watch. Special.
The Cat Posted 5 March, 2016 Posted 5 March, 2016 Loads of people stood on the Itchen Bridge earlier watching, some of them dressed up in old war clothes.
Miltonaggro Posted 5 March, 2016 Posted 5 March, 2016 Loads of people stood on the Itchen Bridge earlier watching, some of them dressed up in old war clothes. They'll have walked over from Weston...
dellboypete Posted 6 March, 2016 Posted 6 March, 2016 There was an excellent turn out and display of period vehicles outside the Solent Sky Museum yesterday as well.
