Was nice to hear his comments pre match yesterday 'I'm a Saints fan as are all my family, I'll have to forget that today, but after this match I still wish them well'........

Also didnt realise he had the second highest pass completion (second only to Fabregas) - clearly he is operating at a more central role than he did for us (winger iirc).

Could he be worth a punt as a squad player, cant imagaimn he's be very expensive, or on much per week. You'd also assume as he is a fan he wouldnt want to leave at the first opportunity and would have some passion for the club!

He didn't want to leave us in the first place, his fee kept the club going before Marcus finally stepped in.

Played well tonight but can't see him returning and why would he when he's one of the first names on

the Bompey teamsheet.

Andrew Surman was a popular young player (youngest Reserve team debut - prior to Walcott) and had played almost 150 games for Saints first team before he left, and some people tend to forget that he was sold " against his will " at a time (pre Liebherr takeover) when Saints were scraping around to pay the salaries every month.

I'm sure he was sorry to go, and I'm many fans felt the same. Although it took time for him to "find himself " in the right team, he has rightly got credit now.

However, we also forget that he is heading towards 30 now, and the idea of getting him back sounds nicer than the reality might be.

He's clocked up over 300 League games and I'm sure that "sentiment" has little meaning for Koeman, as he'd be looking for someone 6-8 years younger for the future.

Was my favourite player the season he left was just starting to come together and dictate play , I think leaving us knocked him back a few years progression wise !

He's turned into a decent premier league quality Midfielder but can't help thinking had he stayed and progressed with us back up thru the leagues ala Lallana and Schneiderlin he'd be on their level !
