st alex Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 Just for fun, may have been done before (apologies if so). I pass Butterfield Road in Bassett quite often and then today noticed an Oakley Road in Freemantle. And it got me thinking, can would it be possible to put together a 'dream' team using just Southampton street names that are share the same name as current or ex-players? Besides those two there is of course Ted Bates Road which is probably the only one which is actually named after a player.
ladysaint Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 On the old Dell site there is Channon and Stokes courts.
Colinjb Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 Slightly askew from this, it always worried me that there was a 'Fratton way' in fair oak, surrounded by a cluster of other football ground related routes. (Thankfully there is 'Dell close' thrown in there too.)
Chez Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 there are loads: Williams close (Soton) Allen Road (Hedge End) Woodhouse Lane (Botley) Fisher's Road (Totten) Holmes Close (Netley) Wallace Road

doddisalegend Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 Fair oak has a Harding way not sure Dan would make it into to many dream teams though.

Pancake Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 "The Dell" in Brentwood, Essex always gets a salute from me as I drive by. As does "St Mary's Lane" just down the road in Upminster. My kids love going by those 2.

diggers Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 Passed this while in the way to Baltimore from FL recently
Toomer Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 I know they named a road after Ted Bates on the Chapel Estate but I would have liked them to have renamed Britannia Road Ted Bates Way.
jasonb Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 In a related note, I often play the car number plate game. In a road two streets away from me there are two cars parked next to each other with last three letters of plate: JWP and SRL. Sad I know.
Maggie May Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 Dia (Dyer) Road, Shirley. On a more serious note, Kachloul Boulevard, Millbrook.

John Boy Saint Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 I feel like I have stepped into a bizarre game of Mornington Cresent!!
bowers-sfc Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 Is that not the plate that kelvs mum and dad have on their car? Strange if they are selling it, massive saints fans.
ant Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 Beattie rise in hedge end Yep, aways used to make me think of James Beattie when I walked past that. The full list in The Dell is Channon Court, Stokes Court, Wallace Court, Bates Court and Le Tissier Court.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 They were going to build a Skacel Court but the paper work hasn't been signed off yet.

The full list in The Dell is Channon Court, Stokes Court, Wallace Court, Bates Court and Le Tissier Court. And Crossley Place where the old Dell car park used to be, not that he was ever a Saints player.
mikec Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 They were going to build a Skacel Court but the paper work hasn't been signed off yet. Was that near Delgado Way that kept getting closed for repairs?
stknowle Posted 21 February, 2016 Posted 21 February, 2016 "The Dell" in Brentwood, Essex always gets a salute from me as I drive by. As does Dia Alley in Kent when I drive by it (and yes, it is ****).
PaulSaint Posted 21 February, 2016 Posted 21 February, 2016 Is Dodd Street the one that you can go straight into after the corner?
Yorkshire Saint Posted 21 February, 2016 Posted 21 February, 2016 I salute everywhere I see the liebherr name. I was in Liverpool docks last week ...huge container ship got a salute which pleased me in that **** hole. Regularly salute the diggers etc on the motorway and took one on the m42 on the way to Swansea as a good omen.... Though this principle did not work at the stadium of light when they knocked us out of the fa cup with that huge liebherr building outside the ground.
