adrian lord Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Thanks - most intriguing/interesting bit is that he twice mentions Kat selling. Does he know something?
Dalek2003 Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 What's all this stuff about the Liebherr's selling the club ? Why is it inevitable ?
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 (edited) Winter might be a leading journalist but not sure he "knows" a lot about the Saints inner workings. There has been whisperings about Ms Liebherr selling ever since her father passed away, but I can't really see why she would. She doesn't appear to need the money, when I met her she seemed genuinely interested in the progress made by the club so far and she has a son who has become a fan. I think and hope she will be around a lot longer, you only have to see the basket-case ownership at other clubs such as Villa, Leeds, Coventry, Newcastle, QPR, West Ham etc etc to see we could do a lot worse. SonicBoom Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 I thought that. Why would she sell now? Things are going well, revenue is growing and why would you sell a club that holds your father in so much affection? i suppose from a business point of view, now would be a great time to sell, we probably look very attractive. But I think it would be unwise to underestimate the emotional attachment between the club and the Liebherr family. Some clubs tolerate their foreign owners, but would it be too much of a stretch to say that after what Marcus did, we love ours?
lickierambert Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 I can't stand Henry Winter. A journalist stuck in 2006 His Times adverts were embarrassing (although presumably not commissioned by him)

A journalist being interviewed wouldnt be doing his/her job if wthin t they didnt throw out some sort of rumour/suggestion that generates debates and further gossip now would they??!!! I'm with you I dont think he "knows" anything, he has always struck me a the Mr Nice guy journo only in it for himself and that means pandering to the "only london, liverpool and manchester" matters mindset because thats where there are most if their customers. The only journo in the mainstream papers worth his salt is Jeremy Wilson. If he stated that the club was for sale I would believe it. I really dont think it is and Im with you I hope it isnt for a very long time.

When I pulled him up on knowing something about the sale of the club, he said he "Couldn't possibly comment, but not is all as it seems"
SonicBoom Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Careful, the internet has a history of burning it's messengers.....
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 When I pulled him up on knowing something about the sale of the club, he said he "Couldn't possibly comment, but not is all as it seems" Well over the last five years I have been told by many people "in the know" that the club is up for sale etc etc but nothing has ever materialised. This is not a good time to get rid either, there's big money out there and financially the club can only get richer (assuming the players do their bit). I think we should be worrying more on Jay Rod's knee and Ronald Koeman's contract.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Fair enough interview but its just someones opinion nothing more
doddisalegend Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 TBH I'm very happy with the current owner but I'm not to worried about someone else buying the club. The sort of money a PL club is worth means only a very wealthy person is likely to buy the club so we can get on with being Man city Mark 2.
SuperSAINT Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 TBH I'm very happy with the current owner but I'm not to worried about someone else buying the club. The sort of money a PL club is worth means only a very wealthy person is likely to buy the club so we can get on with being Man city Mark 2. I would be (but then I'm naturally pessimistic). I'm happy with what we have and how we do things - The last thing we need is a Vincent Tan-type turning up, sacking Les Reed and putting his son's mate in to replace him.
Deano6 Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Why is Yoshida nominated as "Best Foreign Language Saint" ahead of Jose Fonte and Virgil Van Dijk? Or Pellè for that matter. Or Clasie / Romeu. I'll be good spirited and leave Long off the list.
Wes Tender Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Why is Yoshida nominated as "Best Foreign Language Saint" ahead of Jose Fonte and Virgil Van Dijk? Or Pellè for that matter. Or Clasie / Romeu. I'll be good spirited and leave Long off the list. It's debatable as to whether Japanese is the best foreign language, compared to Portuguese, Dutch or Italian. Personally I think Italian is the best of those three.
CWD Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Interesting, although he doesn't really say much. Clearly has so much knowledge of the game. Pedant alert though, Liebherrs is a plural and shouldn't have an apostrophe before the s. Same goes for "contract's" further down the page.
simo Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 He lost me with "He's not in Harts class" regarding Forster!
Patrick Bateman Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 He lost me with "He's not in Harts class" regarding Forster! I did think that was a bit 'extreme'.

Think this something "the average fan" doesn't understand. It's a hobby...and if her son is a fan, eventually he'll own a football club ...that his Grandfather bought. I've met a couple of " very well off people " (though not in her class), they are often obsessed with some sport activity and the cost is the least of their worries. Billionaires with piles of money and don't worry about the millions floating around, and with Cortese gone - we are now a club that doesn't have piles of debt.
John B Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 He lost me with "He's not in Harts class" regarding Forster! Well he thinks Forster is not as good as Hart and I agree with him Hart is probably the only World Class player in the England squad Mind you Forster is a pretty good deputy
simo Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Well he thinks Forster is not as good as Hart and I agree with him Hart is probably the only World Class player in the England squad Mind you Forster is a pretty good deputy What makes Hart better than Forster ? (Just interested)

Charlie Wayman Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 He lost me with "He's not in Harts class" regarding Forster! Me too, if Forster gets into the team Hart will find it hard to oust him on current forms where Hart looks anything but 'class' and Forster seems nigh on impregnable. The rest of his comments sound like the uninformed guesswork that most of rest of us resort too when rumours start flying.
Charlie Wayman Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 I stopped reading because of the dreadful grammatical mistakes. Does it really matter on here if the message gets across?
Lets B Avenue Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 He lost me when he left for The Times.
Saint_Ashley Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Nice little post, would love to know how you managed to get a 1-on-1 with Henry Winter. Might become a regular reader. Great blog!
Saint_Ashley Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Forster is just as good atm. IMHO. Guesswork? Probably.
spyinthesky Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Well over the last five years I have been told by many people "in the know" that the club is up for sale etc etc but nothing has ever materialised. I think we should be worrying more on Jay Rod's knee and Ronald Koeman's contract. Duncan Info I picked up from a decent source is that Kat is more than happy with the family's investment ie approx. £20m to purchase + £25m loan versus likely £200m market value which may be on the low side as the new TV deal kicks in. She has no real interest in football but is very aware that her son has become quite an avid fan and this may well keep the club in family ownership

Saint_clark Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 What's all this stuff about the Liebherr's selling the club ? Why is it inevitable ? Because no-one will be at any club forever?
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 Everything is for sale at the right price. She would be crazy not to be marketing it if only to be clear on her options.
doddisalegend Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 Bring on the Venkys Ha they bought Blackburn for like 40 million as someone said above Kat values the club at 200 million aren't going to be to many buyers out there. Any buyers of saints are going to have to be mega rich and be prepared not got to back much of a return on their investment compared to the current owners. Villa have been up for sale for about a 2 years without a sniff although once they plummet through the leagues the owner will probably find it easier to sell.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 I stopped reading because of the dreadful grammatical mistakes. I suppose you work for an exam board
Highfield Saint Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 He lost me when he left for The Times. He's left???
Fabrice29 Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 The fact that he's doing interviews and adverts show what a ***** he is. Utter berk too. His preaching about the England national team is pathetic.
BlakeySFC Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 Now he's with Murdoch's bunch of c*nts at The Times I don't give much credence to what he says, and where the f*ck has he got it that Kat wants to sell? Sounds like such a load of bo!!ocks to me.
Golden Balls Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 I know her son posts the odd bit on Instagram every now and then. But is he really an avid fan? Or just someone showing an interest due to family connections? If it's true that he's become a super fan then maybe the intention is to eventually have him step up. Seems a long way off though as he's very young and living a bit of a party boy lifestyle. Which is fair enough.

Seems a long way off though as he's very young and living a bit of a party boy lifestyle. Which is fair enough. Who has said he is an "avid fan" or a "super fan"? And obviously he is "showing an interest because of family connections", clearly the son of a billionaire from Switzerland is not out of nowhere going to randomly select Saints to support. The Leibherrs might sell in the next five years, or they might end up owning the club through the family line for the next fifty. Right now, that feels like no bad thing.
adrian lord Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 ^ source please? Who are being courted as purchasers?
simo Posted 20 February, 2016 Posted 20 February, 2016 We are actively up for sale More story tellers!
