I guess it comes down to the whole 'who owns what' debate. What you may think you own, others may think they have a right to take it. Those that are not strong and strong willed enough may have it taken from them? Look at the poor French bloke just trying to safeguard his home and family.

 

I suspect we may see great cultural challenges in the near future

Like just about every other societal group immigrants are both the perpetrators and the victims of crime. Those who choose to focus their attentions on just one side on that equation do lay themselves open to accusations of bigotry - whether that be their intent or not.
