ericofarabia Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 Stolen from The Mush Bible on FB .... I knew he was good but this is simply unbelievable!! https://www.facebook.com/theMUSHbible/videos/vb.1463640217221915/1676384292614172/?type=2&theater¬if_t=like Quality not brilliant but you'll get the message pretty quickly. My Man Love for him has gone off the scale now!! I have not previously looked at his playing stats but he scored 239 goals in 689 games. I believe he played midfield for a while, but mainly he was central defence. Most attackers would be delighted to have those kind of figures against their name. In 17 playing seasons he only failed to reach double figures in 4 of them including his debut season!! We are indeed honoured to have him as our manager and I pray he signs on for another contract. Toadhall Saint Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 He was certainly one of the best.
Miltonaggro Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 My old man was a decent footballer in his youth, and had an eye for quality. I remember when Koeman broke into the Dutch team early 80s him saying to me as a limited schoolboy centre half 'watch this blonde defender, a real footballer, as he is going to be something special'. So through the eighties Koeman was the player I looked out for, my favourite foreign player - even as a youngster he was cool, calculated and ultra reliable - the rock in a Holland side full of attacking talent and flair. I was lucky enough to see him play for Barca when working in Spain in the early nineties and again he stood out in a team full of stars. So, you could say I was quite chuffed when he showed up as our manager. I know that reputation as a player isn't everything in top class management as it's generational, but if you can't respect this man's record as a footballer and knowledge of the game, you need your head examined! Hope he's here for a decade!
Redslo Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 I had forgotten how out of focus life was in the 1980s.

Also Clyne, "Rodgers can take me to another level" comments.....Nearly all these modern footballers really don't have their heads screwed on
OttawaSaint Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 He should teach JWP that low free kick. Would be a good one to have in his back pocket, most keepers would be expecting up and over the wall...
The9 Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 Koeman was my favourite defender of the late 80s/early 90s by some distance, mainly because he scored such incredible goals. Nice to see his two highest profile goals on there, the 1992 European Cup Final free-kick and the free-kick against England. My favourite is the dink over the top and lob past the keeper, absolutely superb.
Shance Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 I'm always surprised when I tell people that he is the all time top scoring CB that they didn't know. He's one of the all time best elite libero CB's and is one of the best free kick takers as well. Part of Johan Cruyff's Barcelona dream team as well. New tactic: Every pre-match talk should include a viewing of that video.
