StratfordSaint Posted 13 February, 2016 Share Posted 13 February, 2016 They are in form, we do play them soon, but they are the club that I fear the most to stop us finishing 5th/6th/7th. Destroying Newcastle tonight!

fanimal Posted 13 February, 2016 Share Posted 13 February, 2016 12 games unbeaten now, a 0-0 draw would be a good result, keep the clean sheet run going and overall 4 points off them this season. RK will play 5 at the back for sure against them, 3 in the middle, Davis and Mane/Long up front as we are at home. JT went off injured, their subs looked very athletic... david in sweden Posted 13 February, 2016 Share Posted 13 February, 2016 (edited) I ll be very disappointed if they do finish higher than us ......a win next home game would help our cause. Edited 13 February, 2016 by david in sweden
Pass the Dutchie Posted 13 February, 2016 Share Posted 13 February, 2016 Koeman against Hiddink will be an extra added edge to an interesting battle. 0-0 would be great. I dare to say we'll win though. 2-0. We'll finish above them.

Dark Munster Posted 13 February, 2016 Share Posted 13 February, 2016 Ask me after we've played them at SMS. Bear in mind they do have the CL (and FA Cup) to contend with, so they may take their eye off the ball in the PL when they decide 4th is out of reach. georgeweahscousin Posted 14 February, 2016 Share Posted 14 February, 2016 Champion's League and FA Cup are their only trophy hopes, so I am hoping our game is considered the least important of their three coming up. No reason why we can't get a positive result at home, and then we could well finish above them.

Destroying Newcastle tonight! They've got 8 points from a potential 18 in the last 6... Couldnt beat Watford, couldn't beat Man U and thrashed a team of panic buys at the bottom of the table. I'm happy for us to pay them in that kind of form.
CB Fry Posted 14 February, 2016 Share Posted 14 February, 2016 They will have to go some to overturn a seven point lead (8 with GD) in just twelve games. I have no doubt they will have a late season flurry but only enough to make about eighth. I guess they will be more focused on winning the FA Cup, not least for Hiddink to maintain his perfect record in the competition.

whelk Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 They are currently 13/8 to finish above us. We are 8/15 to finish above them Also we are 11/4 to finish above Utd. Value considering LVG seems doomed and all the players seem miserable. Not one smile when Martial equalised.
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 Will be a tough game, would take a point. I think we will finish above them. Chelsea and Liverpool both won massively at the weekend but nobody has taken any notice - both clubs are an irrelevance now this season. And it's far easier to put in a performance like that when it doesn't matter anymore. Neither side can handle it when the pressure is on - both far too inconsistent. Cabrone Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 Yes, I think they are the biggest challenge below us but there are also ManU, Liverpool, Everton and even Stoke who are capable of putting on a bit of a run. Plenty of games to go and lots to play for yet, looks like it's brewing for an interesting finish to the season especially if one of the top 4 has a bad run. And take note of the defending by Newcastle and Villa. Most PL clubs would've hammered them I expect.
mrfahaji Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 I'm not sure how Chelsea, who are 7pts below us, can be seen as more of a threat than West Ham, who are only behind us by a single goal... Also if Liverpool keep Sturridge fit (a big if, admittedly), they seem to be a different side (and with Coutinho back).
Chez Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 Also if Liverpool keep Sturridge fit (a big if, admittedly), they seem to be a different side (and with Coutinho back). Liverpool with and without Sturridge are like chalk and cheese. He is a very good player. Greedy, but that's what you want of a striker. Kane is greedy at times too, shoots form anywhere, but they are both full of confidence and you want them shooting not passing.
Chez Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 From what I've seen Chelsea have got their mojo back. Much more fluent and confident. It will be a far tougher game this time round, although both CBs getting injured might help us.
notnowcato Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 They'll have to finish top 3 to do so! I've a sneaky feeling that we are coming with a strong late rattle for one final surprise for a season of surprises. City look spent and predictable, they know a new boss is coming and there will be big changes to the squad in the summer.

City look spent and predictable, they know a new boss is coming and there will be big changes to the squad in the summer. Nah. We've had an amazing run but we've still got enough losses in us to stop us from being good enough for top four - plus seven points is a lot to make up in 12 games. If we end the season exactly where we are now that's plenty for me and well beyond my expectations.
Turkish Posted 15 February, 2016 Share Posted 15 February, 2016 We won't finish top 4 because you can't expect to sell your best players every summer and progress. We've had a positive nett spend the last two seasons and Koeman doesn't believe in youth. Oh yeah and Claise is shocking, Martina is an embarrassment, Long isn't worth £12m and Les Reed doesn't know what he's doing.

Les Reed got lucky in summer 2014 but he's got found out this time and no mistake. The chickens of our summer business have come home to roost. Quite frankly if Katharina has go no interest in seeing us progress she should sell up to someone who is. After all Sunderland have had a positive net spend for five straight seasons. That's how you back a manager, that's how you succeed on the pitch, that's how you invest in the team. But bumbling, clueless Les won't pay attention to that.
