kwsaint Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Would still say Kelvin for me due to the number of one on one saves. Not taking anything away from Fraser's performance tonight though.
Leicestersaint Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Forster has come back better than ever.
Batman Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Kelvin. Much more was at steak and we were just woeful that night other than our goal.
Shance Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Forster. A lot of the saves that Davis made were straight at him tbf.
Saints foreva Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Kelvin, it helped us towards promotion.
Saint86 Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Kelvin vs Leeds was amazing and got us up... Forster is cracking keeper. As has been said countless times by countless people.... But that kevin performance goes down in the annuls of the clubs history. No doubt whatsoever that it was pivotal in getting us where we are now.
jamesfp1 Posted 2 February, 2016 Author Posted 2 February, 2016 As good as Kelvin was. It was still Leeds. This was Ozil, Giroud, Sanchez, Walcott.
DuncanRG Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 You'd have to watch the Leeds game again to look at Kelvin's overall performance, but in terms of significance to the club it's no contest.
saints-cris Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Kelvin V Leeds for me. Great memories, could barely watch !
saintmatt Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 As good as Kelvin was. It was still Leeds. This was Ozil, Giroud, Sanchez, Walcott. but equally fraiser had a better defence in front of him kelv for me
S-Clarke Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 I think Kelvin, because it was heroics - much clearer chances than Arsenal had tonight...and we won the game, that makes it the winner. Although both terrific displays.
ScepticalStan Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Kelvin for sure. I was never his biggest fan but some of the saves he made were astonishing. The drilled low strike from Webber and the speed at which he got down to keep that out had my jaw on the floor.
Sheaf Saint Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Yep. Has to be Kelvin for me. Not just because of the significance of winning that game in terms of our promotion, bit because he was just super human that day. As good as Fraser was tonight, I don't think any of the saves he made were ones that I wouldn't expect him to make.
Colinjb Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 (edited) Clearly Kelvin. I have the memory of watching that game, surrounded by Leeds fans in Wetherby. It was one of the sweetest yet nerve wracking games I've ever watched. That man is a demi god. Fraser has his time to come.... Edited 2 February, 2016 by Colinjb
John Boy Saint Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 (edited) Kelvin without any shadow of doubt, there was a queue outside every DIY outlet in the Leeds area the next morning as there wasn't a kitchen sink left in the LS postcode to throw at him at the final whistle. I only watched it on the box but even an hour after the game I was still exhausted just from watching it, dinner was late and a bottle red seem to evaporate on the kitchen side. Fraser tonight was without doubt right on the money and pushing Kelvin hard for the honours. Edited 2 February, 2016 by John Boy Saint
hypochondriac Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Fraser for me. Don't be silly. Forster was great today but kelvin at Leeds was freaky.
Jimmy_D Posted 2 February, 2016 Posted 2 February, 2016 Kelvin (just!) for me. Felt like he could have played by himself that day and it would have ended 0-0!
Spoonman Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Kelv. Best goalkeeping display I've witnessed, nerves were shot to pieces by 90 mins
St Chalet Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Forster was magnificent, but Kelvin's was once in a career stuff.
Victor Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Kelvin. Much more was at steak and we were just woeful that night other than our goal. What on earth had Kelvin's pre-match meal got to do with it?
farawaysaint Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Kelvin, I'm sorry but no contest, that triple save wow.
SW5 SAINT Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 It's Kelvin for me, he was was magnificent that evening. However an honourable mention must go to Roche the Morecambe keeper from last night.
The9 Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Forster. A lot of the saves that Davis made were straight at him tbf. As were most of Forster's.
Whitey Grandad Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 As were most of Forster's. I only saw Kelvin's saves against Leeds on a short recording but I thought that the shots were straight at him too, but isn't good positioning the mark of a good keeper?
The9 Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 (edited) I only saw Kelvin's saves against Leeds on a short recording but I thought that the shots were straight at him too, but isn't good positioning the mark of a good keeper? Kelvin made at least one daft "diving back towards his own goal after making initial save" save which he had to recover from. A lot easier to have good positioning when you're only facing one shot rather than rebounds. Still Forster's best performance for Saints, better than the one at Chelsea last season which I think was his previous benchmark. He seems to have slimmed down slightly and is more agile as a result, without losing the natural mass he has always had which comes in handy for deflecting stuff. I was most impressed with the save at his left side near post last night, where his reaction time must have been affected by the defender closing down the shot in front of him. Tight angle for the striker but only 7 yards out and he still got both hands up to it to deflect it out for a corner. The defence as a whole seemed more committed though, the margins between Wanyama and Van Dijk getting their last-ditch tackles in and Forster having to face unpressured shots from relatively close range were tiny. Danbert Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 What a strike from Rickie too... Highlights here:
Jimmy_D Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 What a strike from Rickie too... Highlights here: Hah! Was about to post that exact same link
Lets B Avenue Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Kelvin. Much more was at steak and we were just woeful that night other than our goal. Our favourite on board chef, has spoken.
Beckenham Saint Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Kelvin for me. Even now, 4 years later and knowing what happened, whenever I watch the highlights of the match I'm still utterly convinced that Leeds are going to score. That was the game where I felt we were going up, I've never seen a goalkeeping performance like it. Fraser was amazing today and granted the attackers were better, but that performance against Leeds from Kelvin was other worldy. Always nice to see Warnock so annoyed, too!
Shance Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 (edited) As were most of Forster's. I didn't think they were tbh. The one where Ozil was through was a fantastic save and the curling effort from Ozil also was. I'm not understating Kelvin's display that day as it was fantastic but even the second save from Becchio was going wide. Had it been on target they would've been 1-0 up. It was a top display and kicked us on to promotion but taking that away, i'd say Frazers performance was the better. He also marshaled the **** out of the defence in front of him very well. bowers-sfc Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Said it last night, and I know it doesn't really mean much, but THAT Leeds game was the last league game I missed, and my 150th was all about Fraser. Thought it was quite apt in my opnion. To answer the question, the Leeds game gave us a crucial 3 points.
Ewell Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Both equally as good but it has to be Kelvin as the performance alone just about got us promoted. Without it things could have been so different.
sussexsaint Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 Astonishing performance from kelvin, but the togetherness of that squad at that time was something very special. All 11 in the box fighting to keep the ball out. Such a privilege to see
simo Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 I voted Kelvin but have been thinking about the quality of players Arsenal had playing compared to Leeds , Considering that I'd say they're almost equal you couldn't get a fag paper between them !

Mignolet made the same top corner save last night and no-one's talking about how great he was against Leicester! Also, I said "most" not "all". It was an excellent performance, I just think Kelvin's was better (albeit against worse opposition).
SaintBobby Posted 3 February, 2016 Posted 3 February, 2016 both great displays, but Kelvin v Leeds was better.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 4 February, 2016 Posted 4 February, 2016 Kelvin on that one occasion although Frasers stats of 18 clean sheets in 34 premier games for us in total and a straight 4 this season including old trafford and the Emirates will take some beating
Bad Wolf Posted 4 February, 2016 Posted 4 February, 2016 Taking nothing away from Frasier, he was brilliant vs Arsenal on Tuesday but that Kelvin performance against Leeds was just something else all together.
SNSUN Posted 4 February, 2016 Posted 4 February, 2016 I went for Kelvin. Leeds completely outplayed us that day but not only did we keep the clean sheet but we robbed all 3 points with the Rickie goal. Completely Arse-loved Leeds that day and helped us go up. Forster was outstanding last night, but he has a bloody good defence in front of him, and needed JWP in the right place.
Victor Posted 4 February, 2016 Posted 4 February, 2016 Mignolet made the same top corner save last night and no-one's talking about how great he was against Leicester! Also, I said "most" not "all". It was an excellent performance, I just think Kelvin's was better (albeit against worse opposition). "worse opposition"? How do you relate that to the performance? Were Leeds' shots weaker because they were not such a 'good' side as Arsenal are, were there fewer of them, were they more like back passes than shots, did they make it more obvious where and when they were going to shoot than the subtle Arsenal players? And I thought Mignolet failed to save a couple of shots. Try making your point again and clearer this time.
