Transfer Deadline Day Thread

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache

Only ridiculous offers seem to be from those below us. Hear that NUFC contrary to the £21m they have offered for Berahino have offered £24m cash up front (ie not in instalments).

I saw the £12m rumour and thought WTF - rip off!. Only just realised its £21m - even bigger WTF. But £24m.....?!

My Leicester supporting colleague is still convinced they're after Pelle, he even has an app tracking the Owners helecopter...

It wouldn't be the end of the world to see Pelle move on as I think our style of play has evolved and we now need more mobile and quicker forwards. That said we should only do so if we replace him.

Koeman is speaking to the press at 10am today' date=' ahead of tomorrow night's game with Arsenal. Could be a swift end to this thread if he gives a firm 'none in, none out' message... :D[/quote']

I doubt it will stop morons inventing rumours. And that's what most of today is about. Unfounded rumours. And when Sky don't have any "credible" sources, they go and do a bit on the silly rumours that people have knowingly made up. Just a waste of time.

No. Filled a gap. Lack of striker signing last January cost us. People who think what you do must surely have no idea what a squad is. Squads win, squads make top 4, top 6. Teams try to survive.

Agree, and can't understand why people would be happy to see Pelle be sold. If we pick up an injury we will be glad to have him, or would people be happy that Juanmi is the only option? Also, he offers something very different from Long and Austin.

For now, Jay.

That is a made up gap.

We brought Austin to add to the squad as the others struggled to score

Don't think anyone will go but we have added to the squad. No gaps filled with Austin. It most certainly mean we lose one of long or Pelle in the summer without replacement

The only one who will draw a replacement is mane. He is a different sort of player

Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is out speaking to the media, previewing Tuesday's game away to Arsenal. But there's no escape from the rumour mill...

On any potential transfer deadline day deals Koeman says: "We did our job with Charlie Austin and I think if you have to do your business today then you are nervous or you don't know what you have to do.

"We might let Jack Stephens or Harrison Reed out to play on loan maybe, that will happen today, but not any other big business."

Will be a very dull day indeed, even from a neutral perspective. Interested in Newcastle's dealings this window, strikes me as a kid playing Football Manager following a takeover.

Would like to see both Reed and Stephens go to Championship clubs as RK alluded too. Fulham, Reading looking for a CM?

Landslide win for Austin

Vote

Charlie Austin

This morning we asked you to vote who you think has been the best January signing so far, choosing from 10 options.

New Southampton striker Charlie Austin ran away with it, hoovering up 46% of the votes.

From the Beeb's deadline day coverage: I may be biased but I make those 46% right (unless someone makes an even more stupendous signing later on today).

One of the 10 choices was Caulker which shows just how low key this transfer window is.

I did vote for him though. It was a great signing because it meant we got rid of the useless ****.

@MattHughesTimes: #StokeCity have agreed 24m euro fee (£18.2m) with #FCPorto for Gianelli Imbula. Porto will also receive 15 per cent of future transfer fee.

Big money for Stoke!

If he is worth that then how much is a focused Wanyana worth to us? Certainly hope we can tie him down to a new contract.

Ummm. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/giannelli-imbula/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/130756/saison/2015/wettbewerb/PO1/verein/720 well done Porto I guess. 70 minutes in the league since the second week of November.

I wonder if his first 6 months are at the same rate as the rest of his deal or if there's a massive step up?

Biggest deal of this window is Chelsea selling Ramires for £25m, 5½ years in the Prem, Champions League winner, Premier League winner, Europa League winner, 2 time FA Cup winner. Of course you'd barely know it had happened because it doesn't suit Sky's agenda to mention players leaving...

Wow Pep is a brave man but it will be great to see him in the Prem. (I bet Chelsea fans are furious).

Still think Pep has had a bit of an easy life, took over Barca with an unreal team, took over Bayern which is again a walk in the park. See how decent he is at Citeh with a more competitive league.

Unless the beneficiaries are Tottenham, I would like to see him catastrophically fail. Medium sized club with cheat-mode enabled, not exactly a surprise that they've done fairly well in recent years and wouldn't be particularly impressive if Guardiola won things with them. Plus if it makes it harder for Saints to take points off them then it is a bad thing.

The last day of the transfer window seems to have lost its edge. I seem to recall almost no spending was done on the last day of the last window, or it certainly felt like that. Maybe this one will be different. If that continues I can see Sky forcing the Premiership to reduce it down in size to increase its intensity and regain its TV appeal.
