Back in th 70s he made the start of the working day bearable. Always loved his quirky sense of humour. Will be missed.

Sad news of course. Few could dispute that he was a broadcaster of much charm and wit. To be honest I also think that you could, on occasion, detect the iron fist of ambition artfully hidden within that velvet glove of charm.

Nevertheless, he will be much missed by his many fans I'm sure.

One of the voices on radio that I grew up with.

Sometimes his constant cheery yap could be a bit much in the morning (especially if I was carrying a hangover), but within a day or so I'd tune in again.

Enjoyed his innuendo laden 'Janet & John' stories towards the end of his time on Radio 2. Will remember his Eurovision commentaries and version of the 'Floral Dance' (perhaps not the greatest epitah on his career though).

Will be missed.

He was the guest speaker at a function I was at a few years ago and I met him in the lift on the way out. He chatted happily in the lift, through the foyer and out by his car. He seemed very genuine and not up himself as many celebs are. Sad news. RIP Sir Terry.

Janet and John were great. Regularly had me in tears of laughter.

As I recall, they were written by one if his listeners who eventually published them for charity, and it was the rapport with the bizarre fictional personae of his listeners and their contributions that made his breakfast show so brilliant.

Whilst always sad, most 'celebrity' deaths don't usually affect me personally. For some reason, this one has. I shed a tear this morning.

A genuine broadcasting legend.

Yes, a very sad day indeed. Terry used to make the commute to work bearable and on many occasions I found myself laughing out load while sitting in a traffic jam on the M3 when the Janet and John stories were on.

Yes, he was a superb DJ and his show was excellent. The Janet and John stories were fabulous. Very sad, as from the tributes paid by so many, he seemed like a genuinely funny, decent guy.
