Saint Charlie Posted 29 January, 2016 Posted 29 January, 2016 Chance to show he can score goals at that level. If not then calls to put him in our team are fanciful. If he does then great.
SuperSAINT Posted 29 January, 2016 Posted 29 January, 2016 Beat me by mere seconds, Armstrong Potentially a good move for him - let's hope he plays.
Baird of the land Posted 29 January, 2016 Posted 29 January, 2016 Good news in the circumstances, with Austin arriving any chance of 1st team opportunities this season were over. Hopefully he can score the goals to keep them up.
stpedro Posted 29 January, 2016 Posted 29 January, 2016 I saw Crewe against Coventry earlier this season. Their defence was abysmal, but they still pass it about and created quite a few chances which in that game they failed to take. They play the type of style that will suit his play which hopefully will help him do well
angelman Posted 29 January, 2016 Posted 29 January, 2016 U21 going to have pretty bad results if everyone disappears out on loan. But obviously for the better that they get properly competitive game time.
redkeith Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 U21 going to have pretty bad results if everyone disappears out on loan. But obviously for the better that they get properly competitive game time. Sometimes a winning youth team can be made up of players that have been together for years, because they aren't good enough to make the next step up. I seem to remember Saints winning the old Combination league with the likes of Steve Baker, Steve Richardson and Mark Whitlock in the team. Not very good, just consistent at that level.
CB Fry Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 People only said let him on the bench sometime or get time in a cup game FFS! Does that not count as the team then? Plenty were theorising that he could be the answer to ending our slump. Obviously he wasn't and so it proved.
Saint Troy Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 Does that not count as the team then? Plenty were theorising that he could be the answer to ending our slump. Obviously he wasn't and so it proved. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he was the answer, but saying it's been proven he wasn't is hilarious! He didn't play so it proves nothing! He could've come in and done brilliantly or terribly and that would've proven something. It's the same as saying it proves that buying ronaldo (thin), messi, bale wouldn't have ended our slump!! Hope it goes well and a good move getting him out on loan, fingers crossed for him

But obviously for the better that they get properly competitive game time. tbh....they couldn't get much worse, their recent form has been truly abysmal, just 2 wins in the last 9 games and those in games where the opposition was better.
Saint86 Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 Does that not count as the team then? Plenty were theorising that he could be the answer to ending our slump. Obviously he wasn't and so it proved. You seriously need to learn to make a structure argument... Because you're jut embarrassing yourself with that pile of utter cack... Seager is going to be a very tidy striker of championship level or higher (early days yet)... but for the vast majority of the forum you seem to delight in him not being given a chance or being deemed good enough as yet... Most decent and proper saints fans will look forward to him getting his chance of first team football at crewe and will keep an eye out for his performances... But coming on here with BS like "Obviously he wasn't and so it proved" just cements your place as one of the forum bell ends. ROFL.
Saint Charlie Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 Seager is going to be a very tidy striker of championship level or higher (early days yet)... Based on what? Scoring goals against teenage CBs in a diluted U21 league where the best U21s either play first team football or are out on loan? Precisely why a League One loan is a good idea, see where he is really at rather than making baseless assumptions.
Globetrotter Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 On the bench at Millwall today, nice baptism for him if he gets on [emoji6] Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
simo Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 Makes the bench today away vs Millwall , Welcome to men's football haha ! (Beat me to it ^^^^)

Basically I said I didn't think he would have been the man to get us out of our slump when people on this forum were demanding that he was picked. Funnily enough, our manager (he took us to seventh last season, and we're currently eighth) agreed with that, we got out of our slump without him and Ryan is off to Crewe. Everything else - your view that he is Championship level or above, and you projecting onto me an opinion I haven't expressed on this thread or anyone else - is total guesswork. Good luck Ryan.

Baird of the land Posted 30 January, 2016 Posted 30 January, 2016 Looks like he got last 10 minutes in their draw.

saints1988 Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 Just been stretched off. Does not look good
Matthew Le God Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 Crewe Alexandra F.C. @crewealexfc 3m3 minutes ago 37' #crewealex sub: Looks like a bad injury for Ryan Seager & he's stretchered off. Callum Saunders is on (2-2)
Saint Charlie Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 Bad luck for him. Hopefully not a long term one.
Saint Charlie Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 @crewealexfc: RYAN SEAGER: Knee damage having got studs caught in the turf. Full diagnosis tomorrow. Best wishes @Ryan_Seager #crewealex #saintsfc Doesn't sound good. A bad injury at his age would be a huge blow.
Saint_Ashley Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 Injured already!? Not a good start by any stretch of the imagination. Here's to hopefully a speedy recovery for him.
Shance Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 ffs. Looks likely to be ligaments. Lets hope it's not as bad as it looks.
Saint Charlie Posted 16 February, 2016 Posted 16 February, 2016 http://m.stokesentinel.co.uk/Rochdale-2-Crewe-Alexandra-2-Steve-Davis-pleased/story-28747085-detail/story.html Sounds a bit Jay Rod, Callum Wilson esque.
Saint_Ash Posted 17 February, 2016 Posted 17 February, 2016 I did exactly the same and it was torn cartilage so hopefully that is the problem and not ligaments.
SuperSAINT Posted 17 February, 2016 Posted 17 February, 2016 Going for a scan today. Fingers-crossed it's not serious. http://www.crewealex.net/news/article/seager-to-go-for-scan-today-2959594.aspx?
Saints67 Posted 17 February, 2016 Posted 17 February, 2016 My boss, who is a Rochdale fan, said Seager was causing them all sorts of problems with his pace. He said he looked head and shoulders better than anyone else on the pitch and said that explains a lot when I said Ryan was on loan from us.
stevegrant Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Ugh, confirmed that his injury is a ruptured ACL
a1ex2001 Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Ugh, confirmed that his injury is a ruptured ACL that's a terrible blow to the lad it couldn't have come at a worse time for him he was at a real make or break time in his career. Hope he makes a swift and full recovery!
SuperSAINT Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Ugh, confirmed that his injury is a ruptured ACL Oh no! Absolutely gutted for him.
Baird of the land Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Utter shame, looks like he was getting good experience and making quite an impression for them. Hopefully he can bounce back from injury. Wonder could we loan Gallagher to them instead?
david in sweden Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 really feel sorry for Ryan. He's had a couple of good seasons on the way up to the U21s, and deserved a loan out if anyone did. Guess it was just the luck of the draw, hope he can mend quickly . Good luck Ryan.
Saint86 Posted 18 February, 2016 Posted 18 February, 2016 Only positive sides, saints are experts at mending knee injuries now.
rooney Posted 19 February, 2016 Posted 19 February, 2016 He has been doing well with under 21's and scored some good goals. The loan move to CA was an important one in his career development and it looks as though he was doing well. Sorry for the lad ,but agree with others that Saints are very good with these injuries so he will get back to full fitness given time and hard work .Good luck Ryan.

I wouldn't over state our success rate with these injuries, they are hit and miss sometimes a player will recover fully sadly sometimes they won't. Fingers crossed for Ryan but it's so hard to get the momentum back into a young career after what will be at least a year out.

Agreed, very much down to how the player reacts to the op and rehab, albeit the club will have the best care and recovery in place. Look at Jay Rod, he's back but doesn't appear to be anywhere close to the level he was at prior to the injury, and is picking up other niggles too. It's a long long road back in some cases - or you have Forster's miraculous return.

Not sure how quickly you'd expect a player to come back to full speed, or if "not being close to the level he was at" is fair? Rodriguez scored 3 goals despite only starting 5 matches (he came on in 7 more). In his absence we had bought two players (Long and Tadic) who might be expected to start ahead of him. He was hardly likely to come back flying right away, and there's nothing quite like playing matches. Even so, that's not a bad scoring return - Long only scored 5 for Saints in the same time period despite appearing in one more match. Also, he's got a different injury - that may or may not be related to the knee injury.
Saint IQ Posted 15 October, 2016 Posted 15 October, 2016 Back running yesterday, good news. This lad has potential.
VivaElTri Posted 15 October, 2016 Posted 15 October, 2016 Back running yesterday, good news. This lad has potential. Hes been top scorer of the u21 for the last 3 seasons I think. Even last season where he was out for half of the season with injury and loan, he was still top scorer. Should be given a chance sometime this season

At least he gives younger players a chance.. For all the "positives" from Koeman's time, RK totally ignored the U21's except when we had an injury crisis......
