Pelle to Leicester for £5m ???

We signed him for £8m didn't we? £5m would be a joke, surely it'd be more like £15?

I think if he goes, it will be in the summer and I don't think it will be for more than we signed him for, given that he'll only have a year left on his contract.

I'd miss him though. Had BIG shoes to fill replacing Rickie and I think he's done admirably.

I know its the sports bible but I would be surprised if we sold him this window.

Its not a story by Sports Bible, they have rehashed it from an article in The Sun and even link to the Sun. Not that the Sun is a reliable source either, for example their recent bizarre Wanyama swap for Townsend story.

LEICESTER END EDER INTEREST

We understand Leicester have ended their interest in Sampdoria forward Eder.

The fee of around £10m was not an issue between the two clubs, Sky Sources have revealed, but the player has told Leicester he wants to stay in Italy to further his Euro 2016 chances, and he favours a move to Inter Milan instead.

LEICESTER WANT MUSA

Leicester City are in talks with CSKA Moscow regarding striker Ahmed Musa, but they expect to face competition from other big clubs in Europe, including Manchester United, according to Sky Sources.

Musa has scored 10 goals in 29 games this season in Russia’s top division, but at the moment we understand Leicester aren not prepared to meet CSKA’s demands for an £18m fee.

No. It is the papers that are desperate. Once again there has been very little significant business within the January transfer window (only Townsend and Shelvey have attracted top dollar in the PL) and there probably wont be much more but 2 transfers in 28 days isn't going to attract a lot of attention so lets just speculate and see what we can cook up. Pelle to Leicester though - full marks for imagination!

Don't forget Bournemouth's £20m on 2 players. But there you are. That's the problem Sky have. Bompey's transfers are already forgotten and like NUFC's aren't hugely exciting to the masses of football "followers" that seem only interested in anything Manchester x2, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea do.

I think SkySports are desperate to drum up some excitement for their Monday Transfer deadline day - so feeding in loads of carp stories

Very good point.

Wasn't the last day of the last window almost totally devoid of any actual transfers?

Can we do a time share on Pelle? We have him at the start and end of a season (when the sun is shining?) and Leicester have him during the middle period?

Last season: 9 goal in 12 game followed by 3 in 25 and then 4 in 7.

This: 11 in 20 followed by 0 in 7.

£5 million buys his quiff. The rest costs more... The idea of getting Austin was to supplement our existing forward options not replace them' date=' surely? Unless Jay Rod is nearer fitness than we think our we're planning another new arrival?[/quote']

I'd like to see JRod play some games before offloading anyone. He was miles from his best when he came back from the first injury.

If we are playing one up, with Mane off the striker (which is pretty much two up to be honest), then it would be good to have two strikers on the bench. Having said that are we really going to sub two fast strikers to bring on two slow ones? Maybe if the speed method isn't working, that isn't a bad idea?

It seems the way we are playing we've got austin, mane, long, tadic, Pelle, Jrod & Juanmi, (not inc either u21 strikers) battling for 2 positions. Club obviously will know more if Jrod is on track to return. Still seems to me there might be room to shave one off if we got a very good offer.

Lol, got to love the intelligence on show in that post! He is one of Italy's first choice strikers he is worth more than 5m :)

Italy currently have the worst strike force in their history according to their own fans/commentators. (spoken on guardian's podcast)

This. I don't get it. Austin scores one goal and suddenly Pelle is now worthless? Pelle needs to stay at least until the end of the season, then we can test the market. I wouldn't count on Rodriguez for the rest of the season. Long is prone to minor knocks that keep him out for 3 to 4 weeks at a time. And who knows, maybe an Austin/Pelle pairing on the pitch at the same time could bear fruit?

and £5m for a Starting XI international for Italy? GTFO... I'd rather keep him a Saint for 18 more months and let him go for free. I think he would play a bunch.

Reckon that this is what might happen if he doesn't go to Juve in the closed season. Or maybe cash in this time next year. £5m is considered to be chicken feed these days, especially for a striker who is a proven goal scorer!!!

and even if Pelle is the worst forward they have ever had he's still a proven goalscorer at both prmier league and international level players like that with 18 months to go on a contract simply don't cost 5m quid! As someone else rightly pointed out if 5m is all he is worth on the market I'd run his contract down and let him go on a free if he won't re-sign his goals this season already are worth more than 5m!

I can understand why. They're only 3 points clear at the top of the table, the fans must be fuming.

Season 1981-82

SAINTS were top of Div.1 (pre-Prem.) from the end of January until mid March......but then won only 3 of the last 10 games and finished in 7th. place

Unless Jamie Vardy can re-discover his earlier goal spree, they could end up losing games ...by the odd goal and even suffer the same fate.

Leicester appear to be a little desperate.

Not desperate, but sensible. If they are after another established striker it means they are not resting on their laurels, and realise that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to win the league (or at least qualify for the CL). Without a decent backup, an injury, suspension or loss of form to Vardy could undo all their good work.

I wish we had had the same attitude a year ago, when we were a backup striker (and GK) short and otherwise could have had a decent shot for top 4.
