Paul Chuckle Posted 27 January, 2016 Posted 27 January, 2016 Just realised Kelvin would have been here 10 years this summer. Do you think he will get a testimonial? If so would you go? Who would be worthy opponents? Would he attract a decent crowd?
Pamplemousse Posted 27 January, 2016 Posted 27 January, 2016 If he retires at the end of this season then I would imagine so.
VectisSaint Posted 27 January, 2016 Posted 27 January, 2016 Just realised Kelvin would have been here 10 years this summer. Who would be worthy opponents? Any team that can't shoot?
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 January, 2016 Posted 27 January, 2016 10 years is usually enough for a testimonial. I suppose I might go along.
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 I seem to remember a previous chairman getting us kit on and having a go. Any chance of Kat getting a run out? Yes, I know, she's the owner and not the chairman but just hold that thought for a moment.
angelman Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Any team that can't shoot? Harsh....we shouldn't forget this:
Saint_clark Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Yes he will, yes i'll go and the opponents will either be another Saints 11 or AFC Wimbledon/ a Wimbledon 11.
captainchris Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 If it's for charity yes. Testimonials are outdated as a payday for long service players given the money they are on these days..
Toomer Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 I think he may also get offered a position on the coaching staff.
Lighthouse Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Davis Richardson Fonte Hooiveld Harding (screw it get Bale back) Guly Schneiderlin Hammond Skacel Lambert Le Tiss I'd pay to watch that. If it's going to be a fun team, Ostlund needs to be in there. I'd say pick a couple of squads from Kelvin, Bart Ostlund, Butterfield, Richrdson, Thomas, Fonte, Hooiveld, Perry, Harding, Fox Waigo, Puncheon, Idiakez, Antonio, Hammond, Cork, Prutton, Skacel, Le Tiss, Tadic Lambert, Barnard, Guly, BWP, Saganowski, Pahars, Rasiak, John I know he never played with Pahars and Le Tiss but come on, 2 teams from that lot would be a laugh. I'm assuming the big clubs won't let the likes of Morgan, Bale and AOC out to play but it would be great if they were in there too.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 It's going to be present Saints v promotion Saints so the return of Sir Rickie et al
Pancake Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 It's going to be present Saints v promotion Saints so the return of Sir Rickie et al Itk or a guess Duncan?
trousers Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 It's going to be present Saints v promotion Saints so the return of Sir Rickie et al Will be good to welcome Lallana back...
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Will be good to welcome Lallana back... That might be good for all parties. A ritual cleansing of the souls after a decent interval away and perhaps we can all move on with a spring in our steps and a weight lifted off our hearts. Yeah, right.
OldNick Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Any team that can't shoot?posts like yours are the perfect explanation why players like lallana etc dont bother to stay loyal to a team as at the end of the day so many fans are ungrateful ######
Batman Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 posts like yours are the perfect explanation why players like lallana etc dont bother to stay loyal to a team as at the end of the day so many fans are ungrateful ###### not that he has received ANY stick from liverpool fans...nope, none at all

Red Alert Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Harsh....we shouldn't forget this: I just watched the whole video. That was the day I knew we were being promoted. Cracking game.
david in sweden Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 10 years is usually enough for a testimonial. I suppose I might go along. Aside from the fact that he was keeper when were relegated is a sad story, though not all his fault by a long chalk. His L1 and Championship seasons more than make up for that disappointment. The fact he's never really made it as a Prem. level keeper is not his fault, as he found his level in those seasons and DAJFU when it mattered. He is (according to gossip)...a good club man and a role model to many of the younger / newer players in the club. A testimonial?......of course ! Why not?
Saints foreva Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Lallana won't play. He will have the Euros.
eelpie Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Lallana won't play. He will have the Euros.[/quote That sounds painful.
Saint_clark Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Lallana won't play. He will have the Euros. Thank f*ck, i wouldn't have booed on this one occasion but you know some people would which would make things awkward. Having said that is it not possible it will be held after the euros? Or would that interrupt pre-season?
OldNick Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 not that he has received ANY stick from liverpool fans...nope, none at all exactly why stay loyal to anyone. If Lallana does for Liverpool what KD did for us they will soon love him. The difference being that Lallana doesnt have the class that KD has. He was not the worlds best keeper but he put in many performances that gained us points that like RL's goals helped gain us promotion.I dont know KD but i have heard many of his actions not only on the pitch from someone there that makes me admire him.
eelpie Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Yes, of course he should be awarded a testimonial. A loyal servant of the club through good and not so good times.

mrfahaji Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Harsh....we shouldn't forget this: Maybe the testimonial should just be Kelvin vs that Leeds XI.
SuperSAINT Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Maybe the testimonial should just be Kelvin vs that Leeds XI. THAT Leeds game. Amazing.
farawaysaint Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 THAT Leeds game. Amazing. That triple save! My word.
RedFear Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 It's going to be present Saints v promotion Saints so the return of Sir Rickie et al This, would be excellent Adkins back to manage promotion team?
aintforever Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Maybe the testimonial should just be Kelvin vs that Leeds XI. We've obviously had better goalkeepers before but I cannot remember a game where the keeper's display stood out as much as that one. I don't have a great memory though.

ALWAYS_SFC Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 I dont care if players are loyal or not. Fans are not loyal to player so much but when players act up like lallana did, they can fuk themselves Yep, you write off early and then slag em off..on repeat Definately up for the testimonial, usually good fun
SonicBoom Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Hmm not sure. Kelvin has been ok for us but he hasn't really been first choice for several of those ten years. Also I think players should get rewarded for their loyalty (or a charity of their choice should benefit), but let's be honest, Kelvin hasn't exactly had a lot of offers. I think West Ham were keen a few years ago but that was it. We really have been his only option so he stayed here and got well paid. I see him as a decent guy who has been fortunate to be here for ten years and someone who has been very well paid for doing his job. Does that deserve a testamonial?
bowers-sfc Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Heard the testimonial will be in May. One of the stewards from the official club coaches was asking my mate to write a paragraph for the programme or book for The game. No idea on opponents though.

He stayed with us when he could have easily jumped ship to join the hammers and was a huge reason for our promotions both on the pitch and behind the scenes. It's fully deserved and I'll be going and cheering him on.

It's fully deserved and I'll be going and cheering him on. Well let's not overgloss his situation. He was on the point of joining West ham because the money was better and only stayed once he found that he could have a nice contract here at good money, and there's nothing wrong with that. His wife didn't want to move which was a big influence. Whatever, he has been here a long time and is entitled to a testimonial but I think loyalty came some way down the list.

Sunderland ?....maybe not .....might also depend on which league they are in then.
Shroppie Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Legend Amazing game. I was there, in the home end with my in-laws from Leeds. Didn't speak to me for weeks. Which was quite good, actually. ? Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Just like Le tiss then.

I don't have a great memory though. Niemi at Villa when Crouch was playing for them. I think we lost but he pulled off save after save.
The Cat Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Davis is massively popular in the dressing room and would have no problem attracting anyone who has played for Saints during his time at the club to come back for the game. I'm looking forward to it.
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Just like Le tiss then. Different motives.
Wade Garrett Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 THAT Leeds game. Amazing. Was going to post that he deserves a testimonial for that game alone. Top pro and very loyal.

I don't have a great memory though. Not our keeper, but Tim Flowers display against Newcastle in Blackburn's title winning season was possibly the best I've ever seen.
hypochondriac Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Different motives. Not according to his autobiography.
Whitey Grandad Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Not according to his autobiography. Whose?
CB Fry Posted 28 January, 2016 Posted 28 January, 2016 Different motives. What were Le Tissier's motives then?
