adrian lord Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 While it would be amusing, I don't think it would happen. Chelsea would not represent a big enough upgrade for Poch on his next career move. I think he is hoping for a club in the super-elite next: Barca/Real/Juve/Milan/ManU/Bayern M. Chelsea would not represent a big enough upgrade for Poch on his next career move. I think he is hoping for a club in the super-elite next: Barca/Real/Juve/Milan/ManU/Bayern M. Chelsea is a massive upgrade. They can significantly outspend Spurs and they'd probably double his wages whilst they were at it. I don't think it will happen either but I don't think Poch will get a bigger offer for a while yet. (that's if Chelsea are even in for him) If they are, then i'd imagine it would be a move in the summer.

Modern day Chelsea is at least as big as three of those teams. Certainly in terms of resources. I can't think of anyone who would turn Chelsea down because they aren't big enough. Saint in Paradise Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 I would laugh my socks off IF that happened but alas I doubt that it will. I suspect the players might not think that he was good enough for them and we all know how that stuffs up a managers chances. I also wonder if Chelsea fans would accept him as he isn't such a "big name" as past managers.

benjii Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 He's going to win the league this year, I expect but it will be interesting to see if he is perceived as a managerial legend or a fortunate beneficiary of the dismal quality of the league at the moment. scotty Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 Poch has far too much loyalty to move after such a brief time. And he will obviously be too honourable to disrespect his contract with his current club.

100%Red&White Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 Would be the perfect scenario, it would f*ck the North London lot right over, there's a big thing between the two clubs fans. To rub salt into the wound, so the story goes, Abramovich was in a helicopter on his way to buy Spurs when he flew over Stamford Bridge and decided to go there instead. Pamplemousse Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 I think Poch would be more suited to Man Utd or even Arsenal, who have a better reputation for developing young players. Chelsea don't have the patience to wait a year or two, Abramovich is all about instant success.
adrian lord Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 And Spurs do? No of course Spurs have even less of both. The point I made perfectly clear in my original post is Poch will want to go to one of the aristocracy, not arriviste nouvuea riche like Chelsea. Batman Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 Has he done that well at Spurs? I'm torn as he'll probably get 4th this season, but it's been the lowest quality season I can remember and they've slipped up a lot of times. No reason Spurs couldn't be challenging for the title this season. Maybe they still will, but as with Saints his team appears to have too many games dominating and not scoring enough. I think they are challenging for the title. Had they beat Leicester in the league the other week, they would be sat top of the table right now

Of course, Abrahamovic will certainly be able to top anything Daniel Levy can offer......and then when Poch is sacked in ayear or two's time.....he'll be even richer, ......as will his coaching staff who have followed him to every club he's been at. I don't mind what he does...he's history as far as I'm concerned, but it'll upset Daniel Levy's no end ....especailly if Poch starts to poach Spurs players, too. DuncanRG Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 No reason Spurs couldn't be challenging for the title this season. That's a ringing endorsement of Pochettino. He's crafted that team in his image. I expect he'll have a few offers this summer. If he gets Spurs into the Champions League he might well fancy another year with them, but merry-go-rounds like this don't happen every year. Think he'd be daft to choose Chelsea over United, if those choices were available to him.

But can see him fitting in well with what Abramovic might want at Chelsea, and he'd be similar to when they appointed Villas Boas, Di Matteo and Jose first time. Would be highly amusing if it happened so I'm all for it.

Gorgiesaint Posted 27 January, 2016 Share Posted 27 January, 2016 #noplanb Except that Spurs have won 14 points from losing positions so far this season, more than any other Premier League team. So maybe he's learning.

I think his Premier League experience goes some way to mitigating his lack of record, but I suppose United would want a manager who has handled the Champions League on top of domestic fixtures. He'd be something of a gamble, but they might sense that if they don't get him now, someone else will and for a long time.
