Ryan Bertrand.

With Man Utd now having no recognised first team LB available it seems inevitable that Bertrand will be linked. If the money was right would you sell, seeing as we have Matt Targett coming through?

I certainly would not and they will go for someone else anyway, probably a decent CB if anything. Shaw will be back sooner than expected I think and whatever they could get at LB would just be a temporary solution. Blind plays well enough at LB so if they could get Jones somewhere near fit or a new CB they'd have solved the issue.

No. Luke Shaw was one of, if not their best player before he got injured. He's better than Bertrand with bags more potential and is clearly United's long-term option for the position. Things may change if Shaw doesn't recover fully but they'll cross that bridge when they come to it.

Trying to unsettle the team the day before we meet Man U? But in any case this press stuff becomes very more hysterical as the deadline approaches. I make it seven first-team regulars cited as potential departures by the press during this window (plus the Bleacher Report today saying MU should sign VvD). Clearly repeating 80 times that there will be no departures is still not enough.

It's not in the press. It's just on here.

Sadly, it's a Star "exclusive" this evening - http://http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/489491/Man-United-Ryan-Bertrand-transfer-news. But maybe that is not quite normal press....

The Daily Star is one of the few outlets where one can be openly dismissive - a rack record a mile long of random name generation speculation.

If they really want to give us fifty ofd million quid for two left backs within eighteen months then good luck to 'em.

I also assumed that Bertrand had had enough of being overpaid to sit on the bench and moved to us because he wanted to play. If he went to Man U he would be on the bench as soon as Shaw is back. Maybe sooner if he has a bad game.

Indeed and amazing that even one person would buy the Star.i thought LVG was getting any money to spend money to spend any more as it would all be for Pep, Mourinho, Poch of whoever else gets linked with job.

All very confusing. Some papers have it that LVG will be getting no funds as well as him signing RB.
