supersonic Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 Genuine nice guy, went through a real hard time when younger which didn't make the media (unlike a former Saints striker). Met him a few times, really nice guy who I think will do well for the club.
Snopper Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 I like the cut of his jib - seems to have an affinity with the beautiful south, so he`ll feel at home with us. Wish him well.
angelman Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 Maybe I am looking at it with my Saints tinted glasses, but he comes across as one of those rare players who actually wants to play for us for who we are, rather than purely for the wage we can offer. Prem club, more than likely have no worried of relegation this season, will pay top whack wages for him it all comes down to exposure and £££££
angelman Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 So you think he was being even more insincere than the usual football player?
scotty Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 Seems to me to be like shane long, in that he actually has a reason to want to be located here other than money. Not that I imagine he'll be going short on that.
waylander Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 I hope we've signed someone who will do as much for us as Sir Ricky did.
DuncanRG Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 Enjoyed that and like his attitude. Glad to see he doesn't know how he gets into good positions - if he doesn't know, defenders won't either.

sotonjoe Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 I remember him being generally dismissed by some on here as a nasty piece of work and not for us whilst he was at Swindon. Some even claimed he had a dislike for us and took special pleasure in scoring against us. How times change.

Mind I can't stand Glenn Murray for doing that back in L1

Greedyfly Posted 22 January, 2016 Share Posted 22 January, 2016 it is called being media savvy he is here as it suits him. Prem club, more than likely have no worried of relegation this season, will pay top whack wages for him it all comes down to exposure and £££££ Although I am not naive enough to think all 'dreams come true' and fairy-tales, I can tell you he very much wanted to play for us and has done for a few seasons. He had the opportunity to go Bournemouth plus a few other prem clubs but chose Southampton. He does have an affinity with the South Coast and wanted to move back here so on that basis I share some of the warm fuzzies the guys above are getting from him.
