In what way is any of that remotely "sensationalist"?

Hysterical web-forum over-reaction at its best.

Because the headline suggests the tadic transfer was dodgy....which, if you read the article, it's the opposite.

Not really a hysterical reaction at all, although I guess it depends what your inner voice sounds like.....

Here's the headline, every word of it:

"Dusan Tadic's Southampton transfer being scrutinised by investigators appointed by his former club"

You've decided to spin that in one direction entirely under your own steam.

Next time, try reading the actual words before getting excited.

Of course the headline implies there might be nasty goings-on. That is what it is there for. To get you to read it. When you read it. Nothing of substance. Hence the "sensationalism", which is a bit of an exaggeration to be honest.

Try this one then: "Priest investigated for child abuse accusations". Hmmmm....

I imagine that is why some call it sensationalism.

Right....

Premier League team: check

Premier League player: check

Both more well known in this country over Twente or other transferred players: check

That's so sensationalist *rolls eyes*

I've said it before, Saints fans suffer from a bizarre epidemic where they read what they want to read or believe what they want to believe, always outweighing facts.

From the Dutch media reports my understanding is that Southampton have done nothing wrong in the transfer. We paid 13 million euros for him and for us that was the end of it. The transfer is being investigated because only half of it ended up at Twente. 20% went to Doyen, Groningen and some clubs in Serbia which seems legit but 30% went to Tadic' agents. If this money went to Tadic' Twente would have had to pay income tax on it since Tadic was their employee. If it stayed with his agent there is no problem.

I don't think Tadic is in any trouble either. In a similar situation had to pay back taxes on a signing bonus they paid to Laudrup and Arveladze when they signed for Ajax. Ajax recently sued Laudrup and Arveladze because they argued the taxes should have been paid from the money the players received. Ajax lost the case.
