Lighthouse Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 Austin put a few past us for Swindon in League 1, then against us for Burnley in the Championship (assisted by a certain Jay Rodriguez) and then again for QPR last year when Pellè scored the overhead belter. As anyone else scored against us for 3 different clubs?

lickierambert Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 If it's now a club policy to buy players who regularly score against us, then I look forward to the imminent arrivals of Lukaku, Benteke, Aguero and Jamie Cureton..

Saint_clark Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 There was a lower league player that used to score for fun and is still going (and scoring) now, but can't remember his name for the life of me. Used to play for Colchester I think as well as a number of other clubs. Always seemed to get one against us.

beavis17 Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 (edited) What about Chris Iwelumo? Think he scored against us for Wolves, Colchester and Charlton. Edited 18 January, 2016 by beavis17

Golden Balls Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 This could be completely wrong but in my head I have this vision that Carlton bloody Cole always score against us.
saintrich Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 Cureton and Iwelumo two teams only, but both definite thorns in our side, Patrick Agyemang also. Cureton scored 5 goals in three consecutive games against Saints, with us losing all three. Iwelumo never scored against us for Colchester, but netted decisive goals against us for Wolves and more sickeningly, Charlton, in the last minute of the game. Agyemang scored 5 goals versus Saints in a four game spell and in the one game in that spell which he didn't net, he instead provided an assist for Lewis Neal to score a 90th minute winner against us for Preston. B@st@rds. While I was double-checking whether Iwelumo had scored against us for Colchester it came to my attention that until we most recently beat Colchester 2-0 (Ox and Hammond), we had actually gone 7 games prior to that without winning - Colchester managing 3 draws and a win in 4 league visits to St Marys. I remember fondly celebrating a Viafara goal on boxing day stood on the terrace at Layer Road [1-1], and not so fondly visiting their new Lego type stadium on a very foggy day also in December which we lost 2-1 and could barely even see Lambert net a penalty even though it was at the end that the away fans were located. Method Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 The goal Austin scored against us for QPR was a great goal. Probably the best goal on the eye I've ever seen against Saints. I've been watching Saints (going to the actual games) for roughly 20 years. This is completely subjective. The beauty of a goal is in the eye of the beholder. I don't enjoy watching goals against Saints, but on this goal I was sat there thinking 'wow what a goal, what a well-taken goal' when I was at the ground. That never tends to happen when I follow Saints. http://gfycat.com/MistyBlissfulHarborporpoise gif of the goal
saintrich Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 A player who used to play for Watford in the championship. (darius henderson???) seemed to always score against us Great shout, another player that scored against us for two different sides Watford and Millwall. Also got sent off against us for Sheffield United. Scored 6 in four consecutive games against us for Watford and then later 1 for Milwall in the cup. If I remember rightly the 3-0 away to Watford was Burley's first game as boss and he played Mills and Cranie and looked totally out of their depth against Henderson. I was at Vicarage Road when we were 2-1 up with ten mins to play and he scored twice to make it 3-2, sickening.

Badger Posted 18 January, 2016 Share Posted 18 January, 2016 I'd be surprised if Frank Worthington didn't manage it. I saw him score for Birminghanm against us, so that leaves Bolton (probably), Leicester, & Huddersfield. Dib Dublin for Man Utd (rarity), & Villa. Did he score for Coventry also ? Yes in the first minute of the game in 94/95 that Grobelaar didn't throw as we won 3-1 Seems scoring for three clubs against us is not that unknown. But as was said earlier, Austin did it in three divisions, which no one else has done. Now we need to find a player that has done it for four clubs. Kenilworthy Posted 19 January, 2016 Share Posted 19 January, 2016 Ashley Ward. Norwich, Derby, Barnsley, and Blackburn. Yes that's a very good call. I couldn't remember the goal for Derby against us even though I was there. A great example of a rubbish player who was deadly against Saints. Signed by Norwich to keep them up = relegation, Signed by Barnsley to keep them up = relegation, Signed by Blackburn to keep them up = relegation, Signed by Bradford to keep them up = relegation - nearly as much of a Jonah as Dean Saunders. The9 Posted 19 January, 2016 Share Posted 19 January, 2016 (edited) How's Marcus Bent doing in this equation? Players with lots of teams are going to have a better chance, and it's not like anyone's going to forget the killer for Everton in the relegation season. EDIT: Ha, that was his only goal against us, despite him playing for 15 teams and about 10 of them being in the same division as Saints. Well, there goes that theory. The9 Posted 19 January, 2016 Share Posted 19 January, 2016 That helmet David Nugent has to be in or around this statistic? Only... For Preston in a 3-1 win against us in March 2007 For Leicester in a 2-0 win in Jan 2012. He didn't play in the FA Cup game for the Skates, and he was at Leicester when we played them in 2011. The9 Posted 19 January, 2016 Share Posted 19 January, 2016 How about Kevin Phillips? Scored against us for Sunderland twice at Stadium of Light in the Prem in Dec 99 (and again in the return game at St Mary's April 2000) Didn't score any own goals in 2003-05(!) Scored for West Brom in Feb 2007 in a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns in Championship Scored for Birmingham in Championship in 2-1 defeat in August 2008 at St Mary's in Championship Somehow didn't score for the likes of Leicester, Blackpool or Palace against us though - but 3 teams, 2 divisions, 5 goals.
