Saint-Armstrong Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 (edited) EDIT: Now confirmed. Edited 16 January, 2016 by Saint-Armstrong
Minsk Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Hope this is true. Will be very happy with that!
Stu Man Do Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Good deal especially at that price :-) positive start to the day!
spyinthesky Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Wonder if the initial fee is £4m + add ons or a straight £4m up front Seems a decent price notwithstanding possible injury/fitness problems There was some suggestion a month or two back that he had bought property at Hythe Marina Could be true!!
VectisSaint Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Good news of true, only issue is his fitness, is he still injured at the moment? Paves the way for Pelle exit in the Summer. Saw this morning that Saints have allegedly delayed offering Grazi a new contract.
Ewell Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 A stunning bit of business if true. Also nice that it isn't rushed through at the last minute on February 1st!
Saint Billy Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 How the hell have we managed to get him at that price? !! Brilliant news!!
angelman Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 £4m is about right isn't it? A free agent in the summer, but worth paying that to steal a march on others as well as to get his services this season.
exit2 Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 He has been at the last couple of homes games in a executive box watching. Smuggled in and out and all hush hush....just hope it happens
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 How the hell have we managed to get him at that price? !! Brilliant news!! There's probably add-on's I'd imagine, and also we've probably done a better deal due to the Caulker situation. All sorts went on.
angelman Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Seems to have upset a few of our rivals (if this comes off). Presentation before KO would be nice! Fingers crossed.
Ulrich van Gobbel Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Chucked £50 on it last night! Great news all round...bargain price for a proven PL striker!
shurlock Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Good price. Interested to know what wages he's on - whether he's now the club's highest earner.
Toomer Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Few hours to go before kick off could he have a wander onto the pitch before the start.
Saint-Reece Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Can't believe we aren't reinvesting all the money we have got from our players into the team, only spending £4m is shocking!! Reed Out, Krueger Out, Kat Out etc. all joking aside, absolutely brilliant piece of business, let's hope he can be the man to help us take our chances in games we are on top now and push up the table. Very excited by this, well done to all at the club.
CB Fry Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Hang on, West London Sport said this was a no go.
Saint Charlie Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Also, lol @ crook. Once again, clueless. Best thing about the signing. That guy is priceless. Its being reported by the Telegraph Chief Sports writer Sam Wallace now, so looks a done deal. Wonder if there is scope for any forwards to leave? Also wonder when Austin is fit? He genuinely has been injured apparently.
whelk Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Hang on, West London Sport said this was a no go. And the bookies know nothing
S-Clarke Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Anyone else worried we'll get Gazumped? Nope, seems as if it's done, dusted and 99% rubber stamped.
angelman Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Anyone else worried we'll get Gazumped? Wonder if it is tied up with the Caulker loan to Liverpool, where we agree to cancel so that QPR could charge and make a lot more from LFC than us (as well as LFC paying us to cancel). If so, then I am not sure much gazumping would/could go on. Caulker really puzzles me, so can only think that that is involved somewhere along the line.
Jarakka Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Yes! Mind you, I haven't been following QPR so I don't know how good he has been this season...
Katalinic Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Hang on, West London Sport said this was a no go. Maybe Alex Crook is freelancing for them.
vivasadio Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Best thing about the signing. That guy is priceless. Its being reported by the Telegraph Chief Sports writer Sam Wallace now, so looks a done deal. Wonder if there is scope for any forwards to leave? Also wonder when Austin is fit? He genuinely has been injured apparently. He returned to full training on Wednesday
Saint Charlie Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 @draper_rob: #QPR say deal for Charlie Austin to @SouthamptonFC not quite complete - but can expect it to be done later today. More @MailSport

Liverpool fans would do their nut if them taking Caulker enabled us to get Austin haha!
FloridaMarlin Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 A great piece of business at £4m but it might have crept into some people's minds as to why nobody else has taken a punt on him. I'm told he has issues over and above his injury problems, which might account for some of his absences.

Ewell Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Also, lol @ crook. Once again, clueless. Not been able to see his tweets for months as he blocked me for calling him out when he was WRONG yet again. The guy is a clueless chump masquerading as a journalist.
Saint Charlie Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Austinovic and Longuero up top - lovely. Until Longuero replaces £30m Benteke at Liverpool. [emoji38]
thorpie the sinner Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Solent tweeted we are hoping to make announcement today as well! Buzzing now, might leave for the game earlier lol

The guy is a clueless chump masquerading as a journalist. Wow looks like I was wrong about Charlie Austin to #saintsfc. Big u-turn from Koeman who didn't fancy him a few weeks ago.
Batman Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Also, lol @ crook. Once again, clueless. Just wait for his exclusive!!!
sebsanderssaint Posted 16 January, 2016 Posted 16 January, 2016 Yes! Mind you, I haven't been following QPR so I don't know how good he has been this season... 10 goals in 16 apparently

I'm told he has issues over and above his injury problems, which might account for some of his absences. He is a goalscorer. His allround game isn't amazing which may put others off. Different teams have different ways of playing etc. We create a lot but aren't good in front of goal so it should be a decent fit providing other forwards have pace to run in behind, like Mane.
