Kingsland Red Posted 9 January, 2016 Share Posted 9 January, 2016 I know this has been discussed on here before, but before today's game I commented to my son that any home advantage had gone by again moving the home support in the Northam to accommodate the Palace fans. ( The Itchen North and Kingsland / Northam corner housing the stalwarts and diluting the noise) Watching Saints away we are the crap on the shoes of the hosts - up in the clouds at Newcastle, in a lower tier at West Ham, under a press box at Spurs, in a corner at Arsenal etc, etc. It would be good if the club could at least make the away support turn a corner. How about the Kingsland / Northam corner with the bridge exit closed instead of the North car park after the match?

How about the Kingsland / Northam corner with the bridge exit closed instead of the North car park after the match? I agree. It was like a home game for Palace today. You need your most vocal fans dircetly behind the goal where they can have the most influence on the players and the ref, and that's exactly where the Palace fans were, They made sure the ref gave every 50/50 decision their way including a hand ball that never was, and they roared their team back into the game when they were flagging after we equalised. if only we had a home end like the away end Palace had today, it would help us win so many more 50/50 decisions and help drive our team on. Instead our vocal home supports hide away in 2 corners of the ground where they have no influence on the play. Today, it would have been easy for them to gather behind the goal at the Chapel end, but they simply couldn't be bothered. They'd rather lurk in the corners and gawk at the away fans singing. angelman Posted 9 January, 2016 Share Posted 9 January, 2016 I mentioned this to my neighbours. Seemed a bit ridiculous.
Golden Balls Posted 9 January, 2016 Share Posted 9 January, 2016 Obviously been discussed a few times. It really is a disadvantage. If we could put them round a corner like the Kingsland, like it is at Leicester then it would help a lot. Seems to be a police thing but I don't get it personally. Coaches could use the car park, bridge takes them to the station. Easy.
hackedoff Posted 9 January, 2016 Share Posted 9 January, 2016 If the Itchen is the great " extra man " , why does the team always prefer to attack towards that end in the first half. Must be the only professional side anywhere that does that.
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 9 January, 2016 Share Posted 9 January, 2016 We moved the away fans away from the bike shed end at the Dell because it was advantageous.

Oh dear you poor boy please tell how it would of been easy to get everyone who normally makes a noise to move to the chapel for one game when you still have all the season ticket holders in place. Perhaps it was you I heard in the chapel clap and open his rucksack when we scored.
Griffo Posted 10 January, 2016 Share Posted 10 January, 2016 We deserved to lose after singing "you're f*cking ****" to a team we were drawing with, who are above us in the league. Thought their support wasn't any good overall considering the numbers they had.

Sour Mash Posted 10 January, 2016 Share Posted 10 January, 2016 Didn't think Palace made much noise at all considering nice big away end behind a goal, good allocation, winning away with cheap tickets in the fa cup. But I'd say, unfortunately, we give probably one of the best away ends in the Premier League. A big, single tiered end behind one of the goals. How many other places offer that? Not really much the club can do about it, unless we stick another tier on the end. Added to that, its an easy walk from town and all the pubs, plus central station, can see why it'd be a popular away day.
Morse Posted 10 January, 2016 Share Posted 10 January, 2016 Away fans are never going to be moved into the Kingsland corner because of where they will be in relation to the home fans when they leave the Stadium. Careful planning and consultation with the police went into the current arrangement and they would not sanction the fans being anywhere but where they currently are. However there is no such police directive into which way we kick and letting the away side kick toward their fans second half has always struck me as a mistake. Saints foreva Posted 10 January, 2016 Share Posted 10 January, 2016 That is the most annoying chant I think we've ever had. Seriously, it's cringe. It won't go away anytime soon. People at the top of block 39 love singing it. Would love for the away support to move into that corner so we could have the majority of the Northam but it won't happen. This chant should go asap - every time it strikes up, it bites us in the arse. Don't tempt fate!
yellow&blue Posted 13 January, 2016 Share Posted 13 January, 2016 The away fans seem to be allowed to bring in rocket flares into the ground in order to enhance the atmosphere of the stadium during the game. Well it's happened at least three times this season already, I can't believe the stewards in the away section have been so poor in their checks as the fans enter the ground before the game......
