eling-saint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Not sure what to make of this. Having a quiet pint in Eling and in walked Fonte, Bertarm , Steve Davis & Kelvin Davies. No they did not buy loads of drinks and get ****ed but sat in a quiet part of the pub for an hour with a pint each and talked. Is this the senior players sorting out what needs to be done or just. A post match drink? No great shakes but would like to think they are getting their heads together to see a way forward together. Who knows!
VectisSaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Pretty smart getting back from Norwich already and out to a pub in Eling, surely they would still be sitting at the lights in Southampton City Centre wouldn't they? Bertie being there would be a bit odd, hardly a senior player, though interesting that none of Koeman's players were involved.
John Boy Saint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 A coup d'etat being planned?... Last one of them worked a treat after they got Luggy out the door, then got man with hands in pockets, followed by twitchy.
Badger Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 King Rufus ? I drove past it today. Small world. Did wonder if it was still trading though. Shame to see the other one closed down a while back.
eling-saint Posted 2 January, 2016 Author Posted 2 January, 2016 No, the Anchor, Rufus being updated so they say. With regards timing they must have flown back as they were in by 8:30 and gone by 9.30
Badger Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 No, the Anchor, Rufus being updated so they say. With regards timing they must have flown back as they were in by 8:30 and gone by 9.30 takes me back.... have had a few beers in both of those pubs, (& the Vilage Bells was it?) over the years, as has my Dad, Grandfather etc. The Anchor had a stunning barmaid in the mid 1970's, or at least it appealed to me at the time. It was enough to encourage the underage Badger to drink... Anyway, glad to hear some of our lads are down to earth to go in The Anchor rather than seeking the glitzy life. Perhaps it shoulds be on our club tour when enticing players to sign.
DuncanRG Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Not sure people as sensible as that lot would hold a meeting in a pub. If they were there (and I'd expect someone to take a picture), I'd imagine they were just socialising.
Daft Kerplunk Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 4 chaps going out for a beer after a day at work. Nothing to see here I should imagine
sandwichsaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Were their glasses half-full or half-empty? I think we should be told.
so22saint Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Not sure people as sensible as that lot would hold a meeting in a pub. If they were there (and I'd expect someone to take a picture), I'd imagine they were just socialising. You clearly haven't been to the anchor, it's normally emptier than fatpipes
so22saint Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Photos or it didn't happen https://www.facebook.com/anchorinneling/?fref=nf it happened
Wrensup Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Pretty smart getting back from Norwich already and out to a pub in Eling, surely they would still be sitting at the lights in Southampton City Centre wouldn't they? Bertie being there would be a bit odd, hardly a senior player, though interesting that none of Koeman's players were involved. You say that, but thinking about it there aren't really many 'senior' players! Was just looking at the squad and the turn over of the players has left us with very little of the core players
hasper57saint Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Surprised that Fonte was there. He's a very new Dad and Cas must have given him a pass.
Leicestersaint Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Photos or it didn't happen Oh ye of little faith!

Was just looking at the squad and the turn over of the players has left us with very little of the core players Yes, guess you are right, if you take out all of the "Koeman players" and those not in the squad yesterday. But otherwise the Club Captain, the Team Captain and the Team Vice-Captain plus Bertie. Doubt they are planning a coup, more like what they are going to do about the waywards. Either that or it was Kelv's retirement party.
Goatboy Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Or wetting mini-Fonte's head? I don't think they are that close.
david in sweden Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Surprised that Fonte was there. He's a very new Dad and Cas must have given him a pass. maybe....... that's why they only stayed for an hour ...?
TheMidfieldGeneral Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Probably just after the chairman called the players in and read them the riot act. Obviously some players know there's a problem & some just won't be told.
Convict Colony Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 A coup d'etat being planned?... Someone needs to give them Luttwak's practical handbook on how to do it. http://www.amazon.com/Coup-d%C3%89tat-Practical-Edward-Luttwak/dp/0674175476/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8
sadoldgit Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 I don't think they are that close. Is a mini Fontes head a euphemism?
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Probably just after the chairman called the players in and read them the riot act. Obviously some players know there's a problem & some just won't be told. Where was this stated? Where is obvious ?
VectisSaint Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Probably just after the chairman called the players in and read them the riot act. Ralph reading the riot act He gave them a motivational speech the day before the game. I'd need a beer or six as well if I had to listen to one of those
St Chalet Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 I'd rather have Barry Gale as Chairman than Ralph.
Window Cleaner Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Ralph reading the riot act He gave them a motivational speech the day before the game. I'd need a beer or six as well if I had to listen to one of those High effective motivational speech then, that's obvious. I really don't know what he's still doing at the club, must be good at something I suppose, just can't put my finger on it though.
corky morris Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Fonte also posted on Instagram from The Forest saying "clear mind, refocus, go again" IMHO something has happened behind the scenes. Maybe the players have had a go at Wanyama & Mane? They will get their moves in the summer anyway.
WealdSaint Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Always interesting to know what groups the players socialise in. I would have thought these 4 are all pretty level headed
Miltonaggro Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 I'd rather have Barry Gale as Chairman than Ralph. Agreed, in fact I'd take Ralph Malph over the Krugermeister...
Saint IQ Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Always interesting to know what groups the players socialise in. I would have thought these 4 are all pretty level headed Well it's the captain, vice captain (and Northern Ireland captain), club captain and oldest home grown player. It's probabaly not a friendship group as such. It does make sense that this would be the group to have a serious discussion about our clubs form and issues they feel need to be dealt with.
DuncanRG Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Always interesting to know what groups the players socialise in. I would have thought these 4 are all pretty level headed For what it's worth, I saw James Ward-Prowse and Fraser Forster walking out of Smiths in Winchester today.
Greenridge Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 For what it's worth, I saw James Ward-Prowse and Fraser Forster walking out of Smiths in Winchester today. They were holding auditions for the remake of Twins today. That'll probably be it.
VectisSaint Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 For what it's worth, I saw James Ward-Prowse and Fraser Forster walking out of Smiths in Winchester today. Hopefully Fraser was walking slowly so that JWP could keep up
DuncanRG Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Hopefully Fraser was walking slowly so that JWP could keep up Yeah, he's bloody enormous.
shurlock Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 For what it's worth, I saw James Ward-Prowse and Fraser Forster walking out of Smiths in Winchester today. Very middle class of them - perhaps they were reading Classic Cars or Q magazine off the shelves.
Greenridge Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Very middle class of them - perhaps they were reading Classic Cars or Q magazine off the shelves. Fraser was probably getting the top-shelf stuff down for JWP

Pancake Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 Very middle class of them - perhaps they were reading Classic Cars or Q magazine off the shelves. How is going to Smiths "middle class"?
so22saint Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 How is going to Smiths "middle class"? It isn't. Winchester is. He was in Waitrose later on if that helps (saw VvD in there a couple of weeks ago as well)
Kingsland Red Posted 4 January, 2016 Posted 4 January, 2016 VVD, Romeu, Wanyama, Steven Davis, Pelle and Mane all live within about half a mile of each other in Winchester, they're obviously often out and about.
so22saint Posted 5 January, 2016 Posted 5 January, 2016 VVD, Romeu, Wanyama, Steven Davis, Pelle and Mane all live within about half a mile of each other in Winchester, they're obviously often out and about. Steve Davies did karaoke dressed as Batman in a pub in Winch on Halloween. His main song was "Pelle is immobile and overrated" :-)

Interesting. I'm in Winchester High Street nearly every day and have never seen Van Dijk, Mane or Romeu around. Saw that picture Romeu posted from the Itchen though. (Gardos also lives in Winchester, by the way)

Saw that picture Romeu posted from the Itchen though. (Gardos also lives in Winchester, by the way) I saw Van Dijk in Winchester just after he signed, he had quite the group of followers. The only other Saints player I've seen in Winchester is Matt Le Tiss, and that was over 10 years after he retired.

Heard they're sharing a flat in Winchester!!!
Miltonaggro Posted 6 January, 2016 Posted 6 January, 2016 Confirmed sighting this morning of Clasie, Stek, VVD, and Martina in Sprinkles despondently eating crepes, Clasie on a booster seat. Clearly a social split in the camp, FFS...
