Batman Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 At the end of the day, it is a results driven business. we are in/heading in a pretty messy relegation scrap with the manager struggling to change it. Ron must be feeling the pressure and as CB Fry stated, this could well be a Michael Laudrup MK2 here. Two home league games on the bounce now. WBA and Watford which straddle and home FA Cup tie against a very good Palace side. but those two home games are vital. we have the tools to be much better but the manager has to get the team to show it. *dons tin hat*
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 I'm not really worried. Just gutted that at the end of last season we lost three of our better players (one was out of our control) and we served up *that* transfer window. Was a rather meek resignation to going back to being in the position we're in now. I just hope no-one at the club is surprised.

I would gracefully bow out of the Cup.
Saints foreva Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 WBA and Watford at home, two games we would be aiming for 6 points from when we saw the fixture lists back in June.

sadoldgit Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Many were worried before we had kicked a ball this season. We showed what we can do against Chelsea and Arsenal so we know what the team is capable of but it is time to dig deep and get this poor run of form sorted out. To state the obvious we need to start converting chances into goals and if that means buying another decent striker this month then get on with it.

But the worried ones were shouted down, castigated, insulted and in some cases banned.
VectisSaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Been concerned for a while now, even before we started our long not winning streak, because we were playing badly for large parts of games that we still took something from (e.g. Leicester, Bournemouth). I still don't actually think we will get relegated, because I find it hard to believe that we cannot make changes and find 18 points before the end of the season. But changes are needed, and maybe that means Ronald. I really like him and he was terrific for us last season, but seems bereft of ideas now, and has lost significant parts of the dressing room. Just concerned that the Board are so weak that they will not take some sort of decisive action until it is too late.
sadoldgit Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 But the worried ones were shouted down, castigated, insulted and in some cases banned. And why was that? The same happened the previous season and we finished 7th. There is no point in wetting yourself until there is good reason, not just because you think something might happen.

Is it his fault that Mane is a tw*t or if Vic's head is elsewhere (if that is indeed the case)?

Greenridge Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 What parts of the dressing room has he lost? Is it his fault that Mane is a tw*t or if Vic's head is elsewhere (if that is indeed the case)? A role of the manager is to manage his players so you've answered your own question.
CLOTH EARS Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 As i have said in another thread, the warning signs are there and they seem to looming larger by the week! HUGE decisions need to be made in the boardroom and by the management quickly. January NEEDS to be a busy month! If it ain't then we could be paying a huge price for it come May. Don't think it cant happen because IT BLOODY WELL CAN!!!
Asaint4ever Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 I ain't worried! Championship is far better football
wild-saint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 We need 6 points from our home games. I would gracefully bow out of the Cup. although if we did gracefully bow out then it would become even more unbearable in here with the usual bleating.
VectisSaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 A role of the manager is to manage his players so you've answered your own question. Exactly, well said. Precisely why I said significant parts of the dressing room. Two (at least) of our best, most influential players are no longer playing for him, and are treating him with huge disrespect.
InvictaSaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Why worry... when we've got a stronger squad!! I'd keep posting this if I were you; not sure you've added this gem to enough threads this evening....[emoji849]
Shroppie Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 I'm not really worried. Margins are so small and our recent losses have mainly been by the single goal. A win or two and confidence will return. I do agree Wanyama is a problem that needs dealing with firmly. His response to the refusal of a transfer has been as bad as Morgan's was professional and good. He needs a spell training with the academy. With Pelle erratic and/or injured and JRod's future in doubt we need a striker and a good one. Not just another team player. Reed needs to be given a chance. If there are players not pulling their weight, shake things up. Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk

Dalek2003 Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 although if we did gracefully bow out then it would become even more unbearable in here with the usual bleating. Well, tbh I would see it as a rational move. Exit the Cup and concentrate on remaining in the EPL.
Give it to Ron Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Feed the troll.... So how will going out of the cup help us in the league? Did you learn nothing from Pardew and the JPT? Don't bother answering that I know you didn't!! Did you enjoy Tetteys goal? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Pat from Poole Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 We need to get some young, hungry players in. Totally agree with this. A couple of good players from the Championship (I'd suggest from Leeds) would freshen things up a bit. I think it's unrealistic to expect Charlie Austin to be coming to Saints.

Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Already worried. Prediction going as planned. I said RK would struggle this season and will leave at the end of the season after narrowly avoiding relegation. Although the way things are I think we'll go down. Teams like Norwich and Bournemouth seem to be able to pick up points when the pressure is on. We just crumble.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 I read we were interested in Grey from Brum but it looks like he's off to Leicester. Can't blame the lad. Got to be worth a punt for £3.75m.

CumbrianSaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Man you guys panic too much - go back and read some of the old match threads from when we lost to Rochdale or Carlisle - we are 13th in the premier league and the cries are amazing, some of you guys need a reality check, the last 5 years has been amazing - we should be so lucky to follow a football team that has grown amazingly in the past few years, otrherwise we could be a team in league two who used to be good!
Sergei Gotsmanov Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 Been concerned for a while now, even before we started our long not winning streak, because we were playing badly for large parts of games that we still took something from (e.g. Leicester, Bournemouth). kwsaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 We will survive this season. It's next season that worries me. There is clearly a malaise about the team that needs sorting out. The teams that are over-performing (Bournemouth, Watford, Palace, Leicester) all have a fantastic team spirit. Ours has disappeared

The teams that are over-performing (Bournemouth, Watford, Palace, Leicester) all have a fantastic team spirit. Ours has disappeared Agreed, something not quite right there. I do also wonder whether the defence feel less confident with Stekelenburg behind them rather than Forster or Boruc, who I remember was particularly commanding. Perhaps other players feel the same without the Schneiderlin/Wanyama combo?
Chalkboy Posted 2 January, 2016 Posted 2 January, 2016 If Koeman signed a four year deal the whole club would get a lift and we would start winning games again. You might be right - but, what about if the players have lost faith in Ron, or don't like his tactics or training methods?

Chalkboy Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Do you think he methods have changed from last season then I haven't the faintest clue if methods have changed. Do any of us? Do you? Maybe Sergei Gotsmanov is right - a 4 year deal for RK will make everything fantastic, but equally, without knowing what's behind the scenes he could be wrong. That's all I'm saying. What do you think?
Saint in Paradise Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Look IF the owner and her board have decided that no action is needed to avoid relegation because Saints only have to keep muddling through to be ok why on earth should us mere supporters be worried? IF the owner once again sells players for more money than she spends on getting worse replacements our personal Bank accounts won't be effected so why should we worry? It's the owner, not us, who risks losing millions if, or more likely when, given present lack of form Saints get relegated why should we worry?
adrian lord Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 (edited) Team spirit is at it's weakest for years. Very brittle confidence - go behind and it is game over. Club seems to have lost it's direction/ambition. Club sells £20M players and replace with £10M items - then wonders why we are sliding down the league. No one in the club with any leadership charisma to inspire. Board come across as dull, uninspiring, some even as clowns. Ron, while quite likeable, doesn't get players to run through brick walls for him. It all adds up to surviving this season - just - but being relegated next if we aren't careful. Edited 3 January, 2016 by adrian lord
nta786 Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 I'm not worried at all- not until we are literally in the relegation zone. We've replaced 3 Champions League quality players in Morgan, Toby and Clyne with midtable Prem players who have room for improvement. This season is going to be similar to Everton's last year- I think they finished 12th even with a quality striker like Lukaku. You cannot expect us to be top 8 consistently, even if that's what we'd like. Also bare in mind our budget- when you consider it we really do punch above our weight.
BlakeySFC Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 I'm already worried, we're sleepwalking to relegation at the moment.
whelk Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 I'm already worried, we're sleepwalking to relegation at the moment. Yeah haven't heard anyone mention it anywhere. Wake up the sleepwalker
alpine_saint Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Its 2005 all over again, right down to the banal / clueless comments to the press from Claus...erm...Jose. If we are going to change manager for a scrapper, time is rapidly running out. God knows what next season will look like. I guess our better players will pick up the lack of ambition in the board and leave, returning us to perennial fights for 17th.

Window Cleaner Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 Worried abut what exactly? Season is disappointing enough but I don't see us going much lower really.
Shroppie Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 No-one's mentioned that we West Ham are unbeaten in 7, and beat Liverpool yesterday. Norwich are also unbeaten in 5. So both are on good runs but we could have got something out of both games. Our general play isn't that bad, but confidence is low and finishing poor. The only thing that really worries me is Wanyama's and Mané's disruptive attitude. We need to refuse moves, drop them if necessary, then invite them to show their worth for summer moves. I think you are complacent if you assume we will in the EPL next season.
Cabrone Posted 3 January, 2016 Posted 3 January, 2016 We're twisting in the wind at the moment and the teams below us bar Swansea and Villa look to have a better spirit than us. Newcastle looked good yesterday, Sunderland look to have their tails up, Norwich are on a little run, Bournemouth have lost 1 in their last 8 and you'd assume that Chelsea will wake up at some stage. We on the other hand look poor infront of goal, have disgruntled elements in the changing room and the morale does not look good. We can pull this one around but we need to get moving ASAP. Those who are concerned are right to be.
