Miltonaggro Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 On the bright side we might actually spend some money now, preferably on a striker.... Very doubtful, we will probably be trawling the Dutch bargain bin for a loan at best...
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 Even when hot and cold he poses miles more threat than anyone else we've got right now. Pelle and Jay Rod are injured. Long does what he does. Tadic struggling for form. We have no other attacking players unless you count Juanmi and Ramirez. Its not threat that`s missing its the finish
Saint Without a Halo Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 That`s the spirit...but tbh Unfortunately I am old enough to remember the side going from 7th at Christmas to third from bottom in the first three go down season of 1974. One win in 6 with no wins against the likes of ''Villa and Norwich is worrying this needs turning around quick before it becomes a habit
tobes8 Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 come on. we were brilliant against arsenal. change how we play and the formation. we change back after and back to being shyte how was wanyama on the pitch prior to his 2nd booking I will never know Mane had to be on way sooner than he was as said many weeks ago (and got slaughtered) we will do well to stay up Yes granted against arsenal but we've been gash recently. cobbysouth Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 Our defence and midfield have looked decent this season, some very nice play again. Don't think anyone on here doubts that the problem is goals. Long scored 2 against arsenal but isn't gunna do that much and pelle hasn't been scoring. Neither has mane or tadic or davis or clasie or wanyama. At the moment van dijk and fonte feel like some of our best attacking threats. I don't blame that on koeman, he makes mis takes but so does every manager.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 Its not threat that`s missing its the finish Well I'll take Mane in iffy form in our side ahead of everyone I've just mentioned there. Every time. Not that I disagree with dropping him due to discipline, but Mane had to come on and had to come on early as our team is suffering from a lack of belief and a lack of quality. ALWAYS_SFC Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 Wanyama f**ked that for us. Plain and simple. Mane made it difficult for Ron to pick him, which was annoying. This has been an annoying game in general. Well, can only hope we can pick ourselves up and sort this out for the rest of the season but it will probably peter out and we'll scrape in to 41 points or something. I don't think (and certainly hope) that we won't be in a relegation fight, but I have a feeling we'll just end up floating just above, nowhere near anything. I just hope we can have a good run at the FA cup and then look to strengthen in the summer. No more selling ********. Some actual academy players doing something would also be good. Still, half a season to go yet, lets see what happens! But I think its time to redress the expectations, e.g., there is no reason why we should be expecting to win away to teams like Norwich. We're not at the level of last season. I think you will find that our missed chances f uked it otherwise a good post
Saint Without a Halo Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 There was potential for this after our summer business and now the league has settled down a bit it's proving true. Everyone will say this is what it is like in this part of the table but if you actually focus on what Saints are doing as a club there is a complete lack of belief and a lack of quality to turn it around. As momentum goes we're only heading one way. The form table over the last 6 show us what is happening we are bottom 2 now only villa worse we had some winnable games in this 6 (Westham Norwich Villa Palace )yet the only one we won was the one we expected to be our hardest 4 points from 6 not so hard games is a miserable return in any ones books! monosaint Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 Two away games that we could have won and lost both. We are not scoring enough from midfield. Against Arsenal even the two non-strikers who scored were both defenders. Martina's was just a worldy and a one off and Fonte from a corner. There is no way we can succeed unless we start scoring from midfield. VW has lost it and should go in my view.

Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk I love Koeman but he's looked lost and you can't drop Mane for breaching club rules, you must fine him when you have injuries to Jay Rod and Pelle. If Koeman is allowed money in Jan to buy quality he will turn it around and be able to have strict rules in place.

But why, people are entitled to opinions and the fact is a manager on top of his game would have known wanyama was on edge of 2nd booking so would have substituted him resulting in quite poss 1pt or even chance at 3pts, that 'breakaway' goal poss wouldnt of happened, the fact is he's made some strange subs/tactical decisions and thats what people are gighlighting

I will say it again, when he goes through on goal he just doesn't look like he is confident he will score. Saxon Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 I think you will find that our missed chances f uked it otherwise a good post Yeah I guess so, but we still had a chance to score, and up until that point we had been keeping them out ok. It would have probably been a draw. Wanyama made it so that there was no longer a chance of us winning, and probably no chance of us keeping a point so I still stand by my comment. Bewildered Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 Wanyama let us down with poor on pitch discipline and Mane let us down with poor off field discipline. Having said that I feel Koeman waited way too long to bring Mane on, should have been given longer than he was as it was clear our attacking threat was non existent. All in all our play is just so slow and predictable at the moment.

Katalinic Posted 2 January, 2016 Share Posted 2 January, 2016 which is little to do with good chances both miss....regularly Don't disagree with that either but we should be creating more and it doesn't help when the striker has little or no support from attacking midfielders - having said that our midfield seem completely incapable of shooting so it probably doesn't make much difference

The team does not dominate like it used to because it's not as good as it once was. We now need strikers that either create opportunities off their own backs, which Mane is perhaps capable of doing, and or we need clinical finishing when the odd chance does come our way. Not sure we have that at the club apart from when Pelle has the sun on his back in August. I don't think a striker will get a more clear cut chance than being oput through one on one with the keeper. If you don't take those type of chances you have no business leading the line in the premiership these days.
