Romeu looking to leave already?

Looks a decent player but Ronald doesn't quite seem sold on him and he doesn't start many games.

Will that ever change? Assume when Wanyama goes he will be replaced rather than Romeu stepping into the team.

you obviously have Ronald's ear on this one Charlie, but the question remains the same......if he plays regularly who do you drop ?

Thats the point. He isn't better than anyone who regularly starts.

When we play him and Wanyama together it doesn't work and Wanyama is a better player than Romeu, hence he doesn't get many starts.

If you read the article, it's very speculative. There was a similar one going around about Juanmi a few weeks ago saying that he may want to leave because he wasn't a regular starter.

Sports journalists seem to masters at creating "news" with no factual basis.

sadly there's nothing new about that ...How often do you see a paper with a blank space.... because there was " no news "?

Some journalists don't seem to understand that the game is now about the squad and the days of eleven players playing 42 games a season pumped full of cortisone are now gone.

Even the thickest players realise that they will not play every week, we just need the media to catch up.

Hope not, he's a really good player. He needs to stay put somewhere, he's suffered from moving around. At worst he's first reserve and will come on or start. Clasie can't last or play every week, Wanyama will go in the summer so it's the ideal place for him to improve and step up.

my thoughts also.....

I really rate him but he might have to wait till Wan or Clasie get injured for a run of games. Out of all our midfielders I think he has the best reading of the game. I wouldn't be suprised if teams keep tabs on him and enquire when they see he's not starting.

Romeu wasn't built in a day.

very funny

..but be careful with humourously intelligent quips on here. It suggests that you might have read a book sometime...(puts you in a minority).

think he arrived, knowing wanyama is going, i like him...and think he will grow into a great player, all ready got beaten to the romeu wasn't built in a day quote! some players are bought for future potential, not everyone has to hit the ground running! i think Clasie will be great next season..... we'll see.... :)

I've liked his performances, especially since getting a bit less 'cardy'. Good pass, good harrier, slight psychosis, always good for a midfielder. Had to look up his age - at 24, he'll be aspiring to midfield general in about 3 years. Two of those at Saints will see him rise to the top, I think. Stay for a bit, Oriel.
