ErwinK1961 Posted 26 August, 2016 Posted 26 August, 2016 I'll say a name and then duck for cover. "Calum Chambers" *ducks for cover* This wouldn't surprise me at all...

S-Clarke Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Why everton want him is odd. Glass ceeling and all that.
doddisalegend Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Why everton want him is odd. Glass ceeling and all that. well Koeman obviously thought he was better than Cedric so I guess he rates him.
Pamplemousse Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Good riddance. One of the worst players we've ever had since our return to the Premier League. No idea what Koeman sees in him.
VectisSaint Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Is anyone genuinely surprised? Coco is to Erwin Koeman what Jeremy's Pied is to Puel. He's out of contract, would have left last Summer if Pied had not been injured. Nice guy, but really not good enough for the PL.
beatlesaint Posted 24 May, 2017 Posted 24 May, 2017 Cuco must pinch himself often! he really must, Everton fans are in for a wonderful surprise when they watch his unique take on defending
Red Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 The only pity in my books is that we won't get a fee for him. Still we will save the threepence a week on wages :-) Mind you (meant or not) cracking goal against Arsenal - without that I might struggle to remember he ever played for us.
niceandfriendly Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Pretty nifty going forward but defending isn't his strong point. Not a terrible back-up I suppose. Not sure why the high and mighty Everton would want him though.
Saint Albert Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 well Koeman obviously thought he was better than Cedric so I guess he rates him. He did. He really did. It boggles the mind. Still, Martina will always have that goal...
Greenridge Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 I'll be very disappointed if he goes. With the summer sales imminent I had him down to be our captain and rock next season. Boo hiss.
qwertyell Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Good riddance. One of the worst players we've ever had since our return to the Premier League. No idea what Koeman sees in him. Harsh. Cuco was pretty limited, but did a surprisingly decent job in his first season. Won't be missed, but given how little we paid for a back up player, he served his purpose. Good luck to him.
Chris27687 Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Good luck to him - was fine for the money paid and scored one of the all time great goals for Southampton. I imagine he's fairly happy being a backup right back on 30k or so a week.
Mr Saints Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Why everton want him is odd. Glass ceeling and all that. Decent back up on a free transfer who won't make a fuss when he's not playing. Makes sense.
richardc Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Not the most gifted of footballers but appeared to be a lovely guy, never kicked up a stink - I wish him well and hope we get more players with his attitude
saintwbu Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Seemed very popular and I enjoyed his contribution to the club, not least in scoring probably the best goal i've ever seen live. Could think of worse back-up right backs, good luck to him. But yes, not the world-class full back that Everton think they ought to be signing.
Lallana's Left Peg Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 With Coleman injured long term, a Europa League campaign and Holgate the only right-back they have then I can see why it makes sense for them to sign Martina. He can fill in when needed and won't expect to play much, and the management team there know him. He 'did a job' for us and whilst he was a very limited footballer he seemed a good professional. Good luck to him.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Good riddance. One of the worst players we've ever had since our return to the Premier League. No idea what Koeman sees in him. Bit harsh that. He cost us peanuts, was signed as a backup, always gave 100% and of course scored that goal. A nice fella too, I have heard.
The Cat Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 Nice bloke, terrible footballer. Other than the goal my main memories of him are miscontrolling balls when in 40 yards of space leading to him having to pass it back to the keeper.
supersonic Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 He must have something over Koeman, like details of an affair or something? One of the worst footballers to ever grace a Saints shirt in the past 20 years....and we've had some shockers!
Lets B Avenue Posted 25 May, 2017 Posted 25 May, 2017 He will be ready to play in their Europa League campaign in July. The Lying Dutchman will probably be on holiday.
Pass the Dutchie Posted 5 June, 2017 Posted 5 June, 2017 https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-05-25/southampton-2017-retained-list-players-released Thanks Cuco! I understand all the critics, but I enjoyed that you were here.
VectisSaint Posted 5 June, 2017 Posted 5 June, 2017 Thanks Cuco. Always had a smile. Over & out. Lloyd's Isgrove tweeted a while back now that he and. Martina had been offered contracts at Blackburn, but nothing seems to have happened since.
The9 Posted 5 June, 2017 Posted 5 June, 2017 (edited) Lloyd's Isgrove tweeted a while back now that he and. Martina had been offered contracts at Blackburn, but nothing seems to have happened since. They're getting paid until July 1st so they can afford to wait and see if any other offers come in. I'd think that was a good move for Isgrove and a terrible one for Martina. Pass the Dutchie Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Signed by Everton. I'm happy for the guy. His incredible PL journey continues. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-sign-cuco-martina-southampton-10782305
Pamplemousse Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Out of his depth at this level, what on earth the Koemans see in him is staggering.
Saint_clark Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Decent lower Prem player, no idea why he got so much grief...because Eden Hazard made him look a fool one time? Well, bugger me, every defender must be sh*t. Weird signing for Everton though.
Shance Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Decent lower Prem player, no idea why he got so much grief...because Eden Hazard made him look a fool one time? Well, bugger me, every defender must be sh*t. Weird signing for Everton though. No, it's because he was literally **** 90% of the time he played for us to the extent that teams purposely targeted his flank when he played.
Appy Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Sometimes when players leave we just say they weren't that good as we are bitter, but he is genuinely terrible.
Pamplemousse Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Decent lower Prem player, no idea why he got so much grief...because Eden Hazard made him look a fool one time? Well, bugger me, every defender must be sh*t. Weird signing for Everton though. I'd argue that Frazer Richardson was a better right back than him. Cuco would struggle in the Championship, hence why only League 1 club Blackburn were in for him. He must have some dirt on RK.
doddisalegend Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 He is no where near as bad as people are making out. Not a top quality full back by any means but a decent back up player for squad depth.
John Boy Saint Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 He is no where near as bad as people are making out. Not a top quality full back by any means but a decent back up player for squad depth. True. Especially when you consider our lowest benchmark of player being Ali Dia, given the amount of match time he had Cucu had, 2 separate managers obviously thought something of his abilities, certainly launched a few tasty troublesome balls into the box from the wings under Koeman. Defensively certainly wasn't the worst we have had either, I remember VVD going for a sortie up field the attack broke down and the oppos were off down our left Cucu departed the right wing ran diagonally across the pitch smashed the ball into the Itchen and cleanly wiped out the attacker too. As he trotted back over to the right Bertie, Virgil, and Jose all gave him a hearty well done pat on the back. Knew his place and his abilities, never kicked up a fuss, scored a brilliant goal, and considering he cost us bobbins gave decent value for it.
Donatello Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 He is no where near as bad as people are making out. Not a top quality full back by any means but a decent back up player for squad depth. This. He's a pretty uninspiring signing though, but then they do have Coleman.
VectisSaint Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 He is no where near as bad as people are making out. Not a top quality full back by any means but a decent back up player for squad depth. He was probably worse than most people are making out. Apart from scoring a terrific goal he literally did nothing else. Had to be coached by Fonte when playing, he was so useless defensively. Going forward he was not even average. He has something on Erwin. Lovely bloke but **** footballer.
Window Cleaner Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Signed by Everton. I'm happy for the guy. His incredible PL journey continues. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-sign-cuco-martina-southampton-10782305 Anyway it's not going to cost Everton much at all really is it. Koeman obviously sees something in him that the general fan doesn't.
suewhistle Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Anyway it's not going to cost Everton much at all really is it. Koeman obviously sees something in him that the general fan doesn't. Cover.
dellboypete Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Anyway it's not going to cost Everton much at all really is it. Koeman obviously sees something in him that the general fan doesn't. You mean that he is going to see more in him now than he did when he was manager here?
a1ex2001 Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 He's keomans Gilles Grimandi. Plus he's a half decent right back who won't complain about being backup good luck to the lad.
The9 Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Decent enough defensively, perfect for the style we used away in Europa League last season and clearly rated by Koeman. We won't miss him with Cedric and Pied though.
davefizzy14 Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Wish Cuco all the best, he did a good job and was a reliable back up to have to Cedric. That wonder goal against Arsenal on Boxing Day 2015 was one of the very best I've seen at St Marys
Saint Garrett Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Awful footballer, can only think there is some link to £££ somewhere. Might be a nice bloke, hope he plays against us...!
The9 Posted 12 July, 2017 Posted 12 July, 2017 Awful footballer, can only think there is some link to £££ somewhere. Might be a nice bloke, hope he plays against us...! Good enough to be second or third choice at a team in Europa League.
