Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 Deserves a thread. Yes, there was THAT goal but I thought he did well. Kept the shape well at the back and kept Theo quiet too.

St Chalet Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 The times that I have seen him this season he has looked ok. I suspect many trusted the view of our resident Dutch fans over their own eyesight. He's looked solid if not spectacular, apart from the goal, which was Carlosesque. DuncanRG Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 Besides that utterly brilliant goal, he was the same as he's always been in my opinion: alright but no great shakes. Harsh as it is on the lad I'd probably start Cedric on Monday if he's fit. That goal, though. Best since our promotion?

Saint Billy Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 Is that goal out of the blue/a one off or is he known for having a dig like that? If he can produce a shot like that and have a tidy game like he did today I would be inclined to keep him in the side.
nta786 Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 In my top 3 for goals at St Mary's- probably number 1. Osvaldo vs Man City and Lallana vs Hull are my other two- even though both are right ol' cun*s. Bar the goal, played well. He did what a right back should do today. Whitey Grandad Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 (edited) He's always looked ok when I've seen him. But I never suspected he had a goal like that in him. What a curve! Edited 26 December, 2015 by Whitey Grandad

Ex Lion Tamer Posted 26 December, 2015 Share Posted 26 December, 2015 Wonder goal aside (and what a goal), he doesn't offer enough going forward for the type of game we want to play, with full backs pushing forward. But with Cedric a complete liability at the moment and Yoshida not suited to the role, Cuco's solidity was very welcome.

Jimmy_D Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 Defensively he looked pretty decent, only thing I noticed is that he was tending to get drawn towards the middle a bit too much, leaving space out wide. Others covered or he recovered himself each time, so was possibly tactical by Koeman to contest the middle more. In any case, Arsenal weren't able to take advantage of it. ScepticalStan Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 Genuinely don't think he (or more-or-less any other player in the world) could repeat that if they tried 100+ times. Un-****ing-believable goal.

JakkoUK Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 It was a disgustingly good goal. Could watch it again and again. Feel genuinely honoured to have witnessed that goal at St. Mary's tonight, and by God did I celebrate.

supersonic Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 Yesterday was the first time I've seen him play and, apart from the wonder-strike, I was genuinely impressed by him. Looked fairly solid and I felt far more comfortable with him at RB than Cedric. Let's give him a run of games and see what happens.
Whitey Grandad Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 Fluke really. Hardly. He knew exactly what he wanted to do and executed it perfectly. Whether he could, or should, try it again is questionable but last night the ball sat up nicely for him.
bpsaint Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 Fair play to Cuco for having the balls to try a shot like that especially from that distance, would like to see us shoot from outside the box more often.

rallyboy Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 He started the night worried about marking Theo, who turned out to be a shadow of his former self, then popped up to score the goal of the season. Whitey Grandad Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 I couldn't see the bend on he shot from my position in central Kingsland but when he had first hit it I thought it was way off target. derry Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 He had a good solid game and brings the ability to fill in at centre back to the far post. Cedric lost goal scorers in the last two games Cabaye and Alli by not looking behind. Give him some more games.
Wildgoose Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 I thought he looked solid and dependable throughout.....and I keep replaying that goal in my mind and on the recordings. Ewell Posted 27 December, 2015 Share Posted 27 December, 2015 Did well defensively as well as the wonder goal. Physically looks more of a PL player than Cedric has so far. He made a TWO glaring mistakes that on another day could have cost us goals and then he would be getting slated. A poor headed clearance in the first half that lead to a shot on goal and a poor clearance in the second half that also lead to an attempt on goal. He does look more solid and physical than Cedric though so he deserved to keep the shirt. I also hope he improves once match fitness and sharpness come along. A poor headed clearance in the first half that lead to a shot on goal and a poor clearance in the second half that also lead to an attempt on goal. This. On another day he would have been getting absolutely slated if the opposition had taken full advantage. He also several times stood rooted (a la Johnno Quick) not really knowing what to do. He more than made up for this with his attacking play and of course the goal which not only was a beauty but had the effect of lifting the team and restoring their confidence. I don't agree that defensively he is better than Cedric, who apart from his last game against Spuds has been defensively sound for some time now.
