Mr Biscuits Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 Been banned for 8 years. Should be a life ban as far as I'm concerned. They should also remove the World Cup from Russia and Quatar as well http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35144652
sadoldgit Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 I agree. What makes it even worse was the fact that they kept saying that they were innocent. Couple of crooks who have ruined, with their other buddies, the reputation of world football. Lifetime ban was the minimum.

Well no, in their tiny little minds they probably believed that they had the right to give the money and receive it. I mean what's a couple of million Swiss when you're used to giving out bungs in the tens of millions. The corruption charges were dropped, just falsfying the accounts and slagging off the committee were retained in the end. So then it's no surprise that Blatter is now saying that he's still the president and that the ethics committee has no power over him. He's just a crazy old fool who's taken Platini down with him. JxgrSaint Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 Tbf at his age and with the constant pressure of the FBI sending him up the reservation, I'd be surprised if 8 years isn't a life ban for Sepp...

Yeah, I have just read the full news report. Pretty shabby in the end. Looks like they will both continue to fight the charges as well. I love the fact that they had an "oral" argreement (oo-er missus) over such a large sum of money. Different world!

Blatter believed he had the power to do whatever he liked, he still does, an elected King if you like. Feel a bit sorry for Platoche though, he fell into Blatter's trap and went off the straight and narrow a bit.

Window Cleaner Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 I can give 1.3 million reasons why I don't feel sorry for Platini. But he did carry out some sort of mission for which he was paid much later. If he hadn't got involved with the Qataris he might have got away with it. Pamplemousse Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 Probably too late to strip the World Cup from Russia. There's no way it should be held in Qatar.
Batman Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 Just heard Blatter he is off his rocker. completely unaware of everything around him. it is almost everything that has happened around him/fifa is no relevant what so ever. Never mind this incident!! how can you have a gentleman's agreement with £1.3m from a REGISTERED CHARITY.....fifa has its own charity number He vows that he will be back. Just get lost. He is no doubt, rich beyond anyones wildest dreams. Just retire peacefully ffs

Window Cleaner Posted 21 December, 2015 Share Posted 21 December, 2015 Tokyo Sexwale for president! Bloody well hope not, FIFA is already a banana republic, they need someone straight as an arrow to sort it out . Mind you having said that Lord Seb looks to be in a facheuse position already at the IAAF. I think the answer is for all those global firms to stop giving that sort of institution shedloads of cash for doing fark all, it's just asking to be snaffled up in devious ways. Shance Posted 22 December, 2015 Share Posted 22 December, 2015 To the op. This ban has nothing to do with the russia and Qatar World Cup bids. It's a separate payment to do with a tournament that has already passed. Hopefully though this paves the way and has a domino affect. I can't tell you how happy I am that Blatter has gone but transparency is needed if FIFA is to become corruption free. It's rotten to the core. Hopefully we see a massive shakeup now this has happened.
david in sweden Posted 22 December, 2015 Share Posted 22 December, 2015 Blatter reminds me of those Presidents of " Third World Banana Republics " who changed their constitutions to allow them to carry on ruling way after their time is up.... At last, someone has the courage to kick them out, and now gone, start on the next level of management - who ought to have blown the whistle on them much sooner. Carry on down the pyramid until the secretaries and cleaners,(who really run the organisation)and then get a recruitment agency to find football people to run FIFA properly. Hopefully we see a massive shakeup now this has happened. I'm well aware that this payment was nothing to do with the bidding process on those two world cups. However, Blatter has already come out and clearly stated that the Russian decision was made before the bidding process even started. I know that there is very little chance of either Cup being changed tbh however. Both will be tainted with Blatters legacy.
Trader Posted 22 December, 2015 Share Posted 22 December, 2015 FIFA needs to bring in legislation that the President should have 2 4-year terms maximum a la US president. Would stop all this power-crazed nonsense. Same could be said of Prime Ministers (Thatcher and Blair anyone?)
Redslo Posted 22 December, 2015 Share Posted 22 December, 2015 I don't understand why the Swiss government doesn't just institute legal proceedings to temporarily take over FIFA. It is a corrupt charitable organization operating inside Swiss borders. They could do it--unless they have very weird laws allowing corrupt charities to operate freely. Hosting the WC brings 5 years of infestation by the bloodsucking parasite fifa accreditus and has no known benefits. Apart from the publicity. Both Russia and Qatar are wallowing in all that positive PR aren't they.
