Was just posting top say I know he gets a lot of stick on here but I honestly don't think a club like ours are ever gonna get a better CB who's happy to be a squad cover player. IMO he's a very good player to have as back up and its not his fault he gets played out of position. Edit to make me look less of a tit please, mods.

sadoldgit Posted 21 December, 2015 Posted 21 December, 2015 The problem is though that these mistakes are not made up by supporters who just don't like him. He makes terrible howlers fairly consistently. Even at CH he is prone to regular mistakes that a Premiership player should not be making.

david in sweden Posted 22 December, 2015 Posted 22 December, 2015 I know he's made important mistakes, but no MORE than Fonte surely?... It's grossly unfair to criticise him for his poor performances at RB....when he isn't a RB in the first place. His best games have been at CB.

But David, that doesn't excuse the poor back pass, the dithering on the ball and the poor header out against Palace. In fact he was playing CH when that occurred!

No, but I think he's not as bad as he's painted sometimes. I feel that his best role in left-sided defender, but he has no chance of replacing Van Dijk or Bertrand.
