Roo1976 Posted 19 December, 2015 Share Posted 19 December, 2015 Trouble poor all over the pitch lack a presence up front and no one carrys agoal making threat on the ball ,wanyama looks disinterested and classie stil hasnt done anything ,mane just needs to steady himself but all in all very dissapointed and dare i say were in a relegation battle
Leicestersaint Posted 19 December, 2015 Share Posted 19 December, 2015 We now have serious problems - lots of players are not good enough. I am doubtful that Koeman has any solutions - why not bring in reed or Seager and give them a try - can they be worse?

saintsmike25 Posted 19 December, 2015 Share Posted 19 December, 2015 No we're facing the fact we are a poor mid table side. I don't think relegation will happen but we've hit a ceiling and come crashing down. In some ways a clear out of unmotivated players would be great for the club. So Wanyama/Pelle can f*** off, then we need to get rid of the likes of Yoshida and play with youth as lets face it they can't do any worse than him at right back. VVD and Fonte both had poor games, but they'll get better. Tadic looks lazy and he always starts brightly and fades badly. Mane looks like he'll be off, lets face it he's too good for us. I'm disappointed Koeman hasn't bothered with any young players and stuck the same fading team week in week out. What is disappointing me is he's so lazy about the whole thing, he looks ****ed off, not by the results but by the fact he is here, when he wants to be elsewhere. If we can get rid of this deadwood in the team and reinvest in hungry players then we'll be fine this season, and if we can actually start introducing some youngsters to the team again it's only going to serve us well going forward. However, what will most likely happen is we'll not do anything and stagnate.

Pat from Poole Posted 19 December, 2015 Share Posted 19 December, 2015 We need to be looking at players from the Championship to sign in January, as we did with Clyne and Rodriguez when we came back up to the Prem. The players we brought in to the club in the summer were poor signings, with the exception of Stekelenberg. VVD is OK on the ball, but a liability at the back. January will tell us a lot about Koeman and his vision for Saints.
adrian lord Posted 19 December, 2015 Share Posted 19 December, 2015 trouble is Jan signings are dear and dodgy. Anyone in a decent team and in form will want to stay and get promotion with said team.
Chez Posted 19 December, 2015 Share Posted 19 December, 2015 We have been spoiled by the talent that has come through the academy over the last five years. Fans should perhaps consider that the larder has been well and truly raided. We won't get a once in a generation full back every other year. We probably wont even get one player good enough for the first team each year. Calls to chuck youngsters in just because they can't do any worse are stupid. They can do worse. They did do worse when a host of youngsters took us down from the championship. We don't need youngsters, what we need is talented players brimming with confidence. I think there might be a case for Reed. The closing down offered by Cork and Morgan has gone. We need to get pressure on opponents and perhaps Reed can bring that back. We need to Earn the right to play. It's far too easy for opponents. We don't do enough without the ball these days.

I am all for cherry picking the best talent from the championship, but is that where our scouts are looking? The Long and Martina signings makes me question everything about our scouting and acquisition strategy.

sadoldgit Posted 20 December, 2015 Share Posted 20 December, 2015 I can't believe it has taken so long for people to realise how hard this season was going to be. It wasn't that long ago that we were in a 6 match unbeaten run and we were unbeaten away until we went to City so at that point why would we be in panic mode? I agree that the wheels have come off since but we are still in mid table.

Chalkboy Posted 20 December, 2015 Share Posted 20 December, 2015 VVD was all the rage on this forum a while ago before the transfer window closed, just at this moment seems to be out of sorts . Seems we have a lot of players "out of sorts" - VVD, Fonte, Bertrand, Pelle, Tadic, Wanyama - all major players. Is it fair to add Mane to that list as well, and Davis? The question is why are they "out of sorts"? What's happened? Why are they playing without confidence? Chelsea's players have been out of sorts too - a team chock full of quality. Swansea, looked great last season, and at the beginning of this season looked like they were going to be a real threat - look at them now, another team with "out of sorts" players performing well below what they are capable of - just like us. DuncanRG Posted 20 December, 2015 Share Posted 20 December, 2015 We're seven points clear of the bottom three, guys. Saint Fan CaM Posted 23 December, 2015 Share Posted 23 December, 2015 Ah, true. But we're also four points off Watford in 7th and two points behind Stoke, who are said to be having a great season. It's very much mid table at the moment. Look at the trend - the trajectory of the side since the season started. It doesn't show a good picture and it's needs arresting or we will definitely be sucked down further and with the fight being shown in these players I'm not sure I'd trust them to get us out of the mire. The spine has gone, the quality has diminished, the spirit that took through 2 divisions is long gone. Make no mistake, the club is in trouble, Koeman is under pressure and Les Reed needs to ensure there is money spent in January on some quality - hopefully perm or loan to buy, not loans (but I doubt it). Remy would be a the type of addition that would show intent and provide something we haven't got. Anything less and they're dicing with a huge amount of money gained by staying in the Prem. Mr Biscuits Posted 23 December, 2015 Share Posted 23 December, 2015 Really though? We are in mid table, not the bottom three. We are currently mid-table, but only 6 points clear of Swansea. So two more games of playing like we are with the teams below doing well (which most of them are currently) and we will be right in it by mid-January. It's got to be sorted and sorted immediately. With the way this season is going, like I keep saying we could end up back in the Championship next season wondering what the hell happened. They've had half a season to do that. No, the problem is not about the proverbial "gelling" but something more situational. They looked very "settled in" when we dismissed Chelsea at Stamford Bridge a couple of months back. The question is, what has happened between now and then to leave us in this state?
