rocknrollman no2 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 My wife, son, eight friends and other family members including me have all had season tickets for many years. This season i actually persuaded one of my mates to renew(i was on a high after the Sheff Utd game) and up until a while ago i always hoped things might get better, despite Lowe still here. But everyone of us have said enough is enough. Over the years i have given up going on holiday, getting a newer car, buying the wife yet another new bag, just so i could have a ST. Thing is i just dont enjoy the matchday experience anymore. What used to make me happy, now seems a chore and an effort.I find myself shouting abuse at Lowe, while watching a clueless head coach and a team full of kids slide down the table to league one. Unless something drastic happens-Lowe going,Saints actually start to win home games, then we wont be renewing anymore.
St. Jason Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I will not be renewing, 20 years of being a season ticket holder, I've had enough! We went out for a meal Saturday evening, my son was going on about how excited he was about Sundays game. He asked how I was feeling, I replied that I had very little interest in it. He couldn't believe it and quite frankly neither could I, Man Utd were coming to town and I really wasn't bothered!!!!! I went on to explain to him that being a footy was like being married, sometimes you just fall out of love, you still love the thing but your not IN LOVE with it anymore, that to me completely sums up my feelings towards SFC PLC. Rupert, you win, you can keep your "bright new era" I've had enough of you patronisng us customers, I've had enough of your cheap signings, your dodgy managers, your crazy experiments, I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!!! the big red & white 1 Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 i have 3 season tickets, but unless the price of them being reduced, i can't really justify £1200 to watch reserve football. also lowe, wilde, & jp pizz me off.

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Its ironic that shortly after renewing my season ticket each season, saints best or most promising player gets sold,ie kenwyne jones 2007, davies 2008.I will not be falling for the same con next season. Its like buying tickets for a top show, only for the understudies to replace the original cast. ????? ooohTerryHurlock Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 Surely the club should go down the Norwich route and offer renewals now - at a very early early bird price. This would get the cash in from the 'Ill go regardless brigade' and tempt the penny watchers with a knockout price. Alos they could have a good idea on potential numbers. Just an idea - but if they said renew now for£299 or £250 it would be tempting and fair to the masseNot sure why they are hanging on. I would be trying to get as many signed up as possible now - BUT AS I HAVe SAID BEFORE THERE IS NO VISION FROM WITHIN THE MARKETING DEPARTMENT - they should move over and let some fresh blood in that have some drive and enthusiasm and actually appear to have some ideas! Perhaps we should see if we can get a local chef on board as at least the Pies would improve!
Golden Balls Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 I'll renew cos I'm a mug. Plus I just know I'll end up buying a ticket for every game anyway. This is coming from a man who hasn't seen us win since the last game of last season. I was working for the Norwich game...

ooohTerryHurlock Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 A good idea and a move in the right direction. But surely the club needs to have a product that people want to buy? It has the product it just has nt got a clue on how to sell it or how to price it. I was interested to see that Harlequins managed to sell close on 60000 tickets for its last rugby match because it priced it right - it cost thirty quid for a family of four to go to twickenham to watch the game - ten quid each for the adults and a fiver each for the kids - despite the crunch people still go out - they just want to see a bit of value - all we have at the moment is a stale marketing department and a crusty old board that are keeping the club afloat by keeping the price high and stinging the loyal fan base. Football itself is in the duldrums so we are not alone but we are just in the positio that we have a the most unpopular board ever that is so distanced from the fan base and the customers it it hard to imagine - I think Luker has his hand tied but we need people with drive and vision - I mean fancy discounting a game and then tying that one to the Man Utd game? Im no marketing or sales expert (geologist by qualification) but fu+K me I reckon I could out think some of these so called experts that are meant to lead us out of this mess. I still stand by the fact that the only big decision taken by tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber is to shut the corners???? Talk about will the last one to leave please turn off the lights! Totally agree with what you say about closing the corners. The Itchen North was one of the loudest parts of the ground and helped make a better atmosphere. As for the pricing ,i think around £12 for adults and £6 for kids would be about right for the football on show. I had a few ideas about trying to encourage more people along ages ago(ignoring the obvious answer of actually winning games), and even took the time to e-mail the club, but as usual i didnt even get a reply. Amesbury Saint Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 The club needs to get far smarter with its marketing and ticket sales. the fans are still there but just need encouragement. So my ideas - give every season ticket holder an extra ticket for them to take their brother, sister, Dad etc and do this for the next 5 home matches - make the chapel corner £5 a ticket but only sold on the online shop. - make all childrens replica shirts cost price - anybody who buys 4 full price tickets gets a free one. - anyone who buys next years season ticket before 31/1/09 - £200 for an adult one. - child season ticket comes with replica shirt
St Marco Posted 5 January, 2009 Share Posted 5 January, 2009 For me it depends on what it will cost. If we have the same price as this year even if we do survive the stadium will have far less people in it. Would rather the prices were lower so we have people in the stadium then higher and nobody there. The reality is we should not be paying £10 to watch this team play let alone £20-£30. Southampton FC is not a charity, it makes the people who run it very rich, it does not go to help some orphan or hospital. It is about entertainment and right now were anything but entertaining. We are in a recession with things set to get far worse. The club needs to get realistic and treat the lifeblood (the fans) better. Weve suffered enough ****. cjb2562 Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 No, after 15 years as a season ticket holder I have had enough. I will not pay the money they want to watch 3rd rate players like we have. I understand the clubs situation and remain hopeful it will sort itself out, however we do have a couple of good players we play but the rest are not upto it. As for the wonderfull football, well the league position says it all, we are a very poor team at the moment who cant score goals or even win 2 home games!!! RL has always pushed and promoted the academy, which has produced some top quality players over the years, however now,he just seems to use it to mass produce the team and will continue to do so so long as he is here. West End Saint Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 I still love my team and I still love going to Footy with my Dad Brother and Nephew I want to renew even if we go down but next season the decision will be financial if I can afford it and it is cheap enough to justify the division we are in then I will renew. Dont get me wrong I hate Lowe and have come to the end of my tether the way we are playing 1 league win all season is not entertainment or value for money but change must be round the corner 1 way or another via administration or buy out and my club will need my support and if I can afford it I will be there UTS! Dr Who? Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 I did not renew my season ticket after we were relegated in 2005. I already had a bellyful of the board by this point. After getting to the cup final in 2003 and into Europe the board had a choice and that was to push the boat out a little and try and push on as a club or be skinflints and watch all the good work go out of the window just so they had a few extra quid to pay themselves. It is all down to the greed of the board. You could see throughout the season 2004/05 that the club was being drained and that something was up and you could see that it was the start of something bad. This has continued and I believe that the club have a lot worse to come and I just hope that we do not completely go into a black hole and have to start again. I will continue to watch Saints but mainly away from home and will still carry on loving the club but it somehow does not feel the same as it did and I have a very sour taste left in my mouth from how things can go so wrong in such a short space of time. Perhaps it is time to start a New Saints FC (AFC Southampton) anyone? LOL
Ford Saint Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 My daughter is getting married in 2010, the £375.00 I paid for my ST this year would cover the cost of four of the seven suits we have to hire. So at the moment I don't think so, membership for me after 22 years as a ST holder. I thought that I paid £370 this season, but I've been told they are £470 next season !!! somehow that can't be true. Was told it came from the OS. instinct Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 Prob buy on a match to match basis next year instead of a season ticket I don't mind seeing saints lose, I've been a saints fan since I moved here 12 years ago so I'm used to seeing them lose more than win. But I won't pay to see such spineless, gutless, passionless, weak performances week in week out.
Michelle Posted 6 January, 2009 Share Posted 6 January, 2009 Michelle do you still follow Saints away from home? I don't bother much now due to Lowe, but i remember seeing you at lots of away games in the past. If Lowe is driving away diehard fans then it really hits home how serious the situation is. Certainly do, only missed about two or three this season. Also going to reserve games at Staplewood whenever I can - don't you just love free admission! At least it still gives me a way of supporting the team in person whilst our sorry mess of a situation gets sorted.
