Sadly that is not the case. The defeat has a significant impact on the next result, these are not discrete events in terms of probability.

But talk of two in a row is meaningless now that they've lost one. We are now down to the odds on the next match alone. It is the difference between a priori and a posteori, as I'm sure you well know. Of course, it could be argued that football matches are not random independent events but now that Tottenham have lost does that make it more or less likely that they will lose their next? Who would have predicted that we would go on a round of losses after such an unbeaten one?

As you say, football matches are not random independent events. It is highly probable that their next game will not result in a loss.

But that our next game will? What chance do you give us of winning this one?

Or a win

More than happy to see a Leicester win over Chelsea tonight.

More teams below us the better, obviously.

Would be amusing to see the Chelsea slump continue.....less so,to see ours continue.

Have the reigning champions ever been relegated, or come close to it? If they lose tonight Chelsea will be 1 point clear of the bottom 3

Give them their due, that was a nice move. When the Tinker Man was appointed, I thought Leicester might be in trouble. Many others did as well. What do we know?? Good on them. If it can't be us that shakes up the top 4, then someone like Leicester would be an ideal club to do it.

Only think ****ing me off is when we were u there last season everyone was saying (rightly) we wont stay up there , yet theyre talking about them winning the league!

League seems a bit weirder this season. More so than last. I'm just waiting for Chelsea to start clicking....they will won't they, as at this rate they might get relegated? I don't actually believe that, but......

Fair play to them, been excellent again tonight. A team playing with energy, aggression and confidence with their two best players bang in form. A squad of relatively cheap signings with many players who haven't made it elsewhere. I'll be amazed if they keep this up over the season, theyll pick up injures sooner or later but great while it lasts.

Still wouldn't bet on us being above them come new year

He the one who makes them tick imo

There is also a great core of players around them who work tremendously hard, but it's Mahrez and Vardy's tremendous goalscoring/assisting that's allowed Leicester to rise to the top. And long may it continue!

Leeds United in the first Prem season probably the closest example, didn't go down but not far off.

Watching Leicester tonight it's noticeable how many players they have who are able and willing to run at oppositions' midfield and defence - in contrast, we only have Mane who does with any conviction.

Annoyed that we threw away a 2-0 lead at HT.

Leicester highlighting what we did wrong in that game. They are not dropping deep thinking they can defend their lead. Instead they continue to play the way that earned them the lead. All in spite of what the clueless Sky commentators think.

It comea to something when you wish you could play like last seasons relegation battlers!

Indeed, this is currently the most effective way to play against modern defenders it seems.

TBF we were damn lucky to get even a point from that game, we should have been down and out at FT. A point is a bit of a bonus.

Won £85 on Leicester beating Chelsea and just decided to stick it all on them winning the league, I'm backing them all the way from here. Come on Leicester!

Would be nice, but they do still have to go to Man City, Spurs, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea (if we still consider that a hard game, they may have improved by May). Plus their next 3 games are Everton (A), Liverpool (A), Man City (H). They've also so far stayed injury free.

Indeed. Kante and Mahrez are inspired signings aren't they. Some black box Leicester must have!

Their head of recruitment and assistant manager, Steve Walsh, appears to be off to Arsenal. Likely to be confirmed this week. Different teams, same s**t.

If a year ago someone looked into a crystal ball and said the winner of the Leicester-Chelsea match would go 2 points clear at the top, with the loser 1 point above relegation, I wonder what odds would be given for it being this way around? :scared:

You can be sure that had it been us signing those players instead of Leicester for the fees that they paid for them those signings and others would have been dismissed as cheap replacements from a board lacking ambition. We'd have had post after post from certain people starting with their favourite line of. "you can't expect to sell your best players every year and replace them on the cheap and hope it works out" imagine if we replace Mane next summer with a £750k signing from a French Ligue 2 side, the meltdown would be something to behold.

I think the difference is though that Leicester haven't had multiple players sold off or wanting to leave the way Saints have - therefore their purchases of Mahrez, Kante and co. don't have to be compared with departed players. The point remains valid - Leicester have made several astute buys in the transfer market.

Surely you'd agree it's true, you can't get away with that strategy every year? No one is disputing you can find great players cheap sometimes. Always worth a punt, just good to mix it with players you know will improve the team too.

And just how many of these "players you know will improve the team" have Leicester signed? Imagine if we'd signed a third choice stoke centre half who'd spent almost a year out injured, Or a player that couldn't get a kick at villa. For all those hailing Leicester the fact is their sum is greater than their parts right now and if we'd signed the vast majority of those players instead of them there would be meltdown. I mean I can't see to many champions league clubs coming in for Wes Morgan can you?

Imagine if Leicester went out and bought a couple of 20m players in January. They could actually win the league. Got to be worth a gamble. How often does a chance like that come along?

Exactly. And if they do manage to finish in the top 3 or 4 there's a good chance that they could keep Mahrez and Vardy for another season at least. Not to mention the extra CL dosh to strengthen further.

Shame we weren't able to strengthen this time last year.

The Leicester board must be applauded for their unbelievable ability to hold on to their star players in the face of absolutely no interest whatsoever from Champions League clubs.
