Sorry if not too Saints related, but I see that they are through to the last 32 - good achievement.

Would love them to knock out Liverpool, Spuds or even better, Manure in the next round.

Should have been us. Still find that away leg performance bizarre.

The selection was a bit odd, wet night, no atmosphere, strange lack of commitment and expectation.

A conspiracy theorist might wonder whether we wanted a European campaign.

Except we should have been three up in the first twenty minutes.

I'd much rather they knocked out Spurs. Only reason I'd want Tottenham to stay in the competition would be injuries, tiredness, distraction etc, but they don't seem to be struggling with it...

Would enjoy Liverpool being knocked out but don't really care about United.

Can I be greedy and ask for both?

Well done to them.

However I would be suprised if they go any further

I was surprised they made the group stages, but having done that, their further success is no surprise at all. They're very effective at what they do.

They would do well against a team such as Manure struggling to score.

According to our friend in Denmark the campaign has affected their domestic form. They are third in the league at the moment.

I noted that myself Shroppie.....in retrospect they weren't such poor opposition, but we did ourselves no favours the way we played them over the two legs.

Considering they won the league for the first time last season, hardly a tragedy!

I rather suspect they're happy with the way things are going. Does anybody think they've got any chance of winning the thing and getting into next year's Champions League? Who'd have thought it.

Well, they have just drawn Man Utd in the last 32.

The midgets could win that. COYM!

Augsburg drew Liverpool. If we had qualified we would have had the fixtures that Augsburg got (not the ones Midjyttland got) as they inherited our seeding place. Of course we wouldn't have got Liverpool because the draw is rigged to ensure teams from the same country do not meet, so we will never know who we may drawn. All academic now anyway.

Manure are there for taking. Anyone travelling to support ex Saints Sparv?

Morgan must be chuffed that he left a club knocked out of the Europa League by Danish midgets in order to compete at the highest level in Europe.

I suspect he's more chuffed that every time they leave him out they concede goals and lose, and when they pick him they don't.

Hope United smash them. Hate Midtjylland, hate Denmark and I hate Tim Sparv. F*ck em. World would be better off without that insignificant part of it.

They speak quite highly of you. I found them pleasant enough and their country, whilst not exciting has its good points and some nice bridges.

And I will always cheer on anyone against the arrogant bores that are Manure.

Just my opinion.

I have spent quite a bit of time there and know some of the language and I have always found them pleasant to deal with. At first the cleanliness and regularity se ms quite appealing but after a while you long for a bit of u**** grass verge or some sign of eccentricity and it can come as a relief when you reach Germany. We can learn a lot from their design philosophy but we don't need to slavishly follow it.

I didn't like the Midtjylland style of football though and wouldn't want to watch that every week but I always support any team that are playing Man Utd.

With one notable exception, surely?

We were saving energy for a big push in December.

Apparently Sparv is a massive United fan. Good job we didn't give him a chance. He would have ****ed off to his spiritual home. Shame, actually thought he was half decent, in a helmet, mongboard sort of way.

Absolutely don't want to see them knock out an English team. Our coefficient is dropping, and we are one crap European performance, with a decent Italian one, away from losing European spots. And that means harder for Saints to get into Europe ever.

I'll be supporting the English teams, because we need a good year to ensure Saints have the best chance of a European run anytime soon.

If we want to have an opportunity for European competition in the future, we need English clubs to do well in Europe to keep the coefficient higher than the Italian coefficient. This means that we want all six remaining English clubs to do well--or at least significantly better than the remaining Italian clubs.

I don't know. I think there would be a certain pleasure to be had in seeing the big boys fight over 3 CL places. (And that would be karma-ish if a team missed out on the CL because they had weakened Saints by taking our players resulting in our early exit from the Europa League.)

I agree. The European competitions are overrated and, for a club with the resources of Saints, overstretch the team and detract from PL performances. And since BT took over, I'm not that bothered, at least with the group stages.

And losing a place would possibly curb the overhyping by Sky of the PL (and overpricing) and be a wake-up call. It's doubtful that it's the best league in the world. This season is seeing a levelling and the playing style of quite a few clubs, including "big" ones looks ponderous and old-fashioned.

may not be best in terms of quality (right up there though)

but easily the most exciting.

obviously looking at our indifferent form in the Prem. (one) wonders how things might have been..... had we qualified - instead of Midtjylland (?)

Despite protestations of a stronger squad, Juanmi hasn't clicked at all yet, Clasie may have been better, had he hit the ground running from Day 1. IMO Romeu may turn out better than he has had the chance to show (so far)..and Pelle has discovered that life after 30 (as a Prem.player) isn't a cakewalk..Jay Rod 's injury saga has become a nightmare of waiting....and even Mane has been "found out " by several teams who have " neutralised " him.

The (supposed) strength of our squad isn't showing through enough to balance things out, and especially without a new Bale, Alex O-C or Shaw on the horizon.

We went through yet another reshuffle in the summer, and...tbh. we may never successfully replace Schneiderlin (as was case with MLT, Niemi and Michael Svensson).

Chelsea lost the " Lampard effect ", and although their good form carried them through the season, only now do they miss his presence.

IMO Selling Cech was the mistake of the decade whilst, Drogba was a law unto himself, and the downfall of John Terry marks a defensive slide in Chelsea fortunes.

I would have persisted with Mourinho, because whoever follows him has a hard act to follow. Their dressing room awaits a new "special one" who may never arrive.

Looking at Saints' (and Chelsea's) league form ..it makes you wonder how their huge squad, and our minimal one will cope with the current adversity.

Midtjylland ...with their " Bournemouth-size " ground and Chelsea " loan-ees " may end up being more successful than both Saints ...and Chelsea.

Yep - the league is the best, not on quality of top teams, but on the league competition. We could be like Spain if you want, where the money is lopsided and the clubs at the bottom of the league struggle for sponsorship and existence. I like the competition in English football - shows how much depth we have here.
