Not seen a thread on this before so apologies if discussed before.

It seems to me that saints are playing in a very similar style to man u. Possion football, pushing up on the wings. Very organised but with very little movement apart from the wing players. Very boring to watch imo

Saints are far more fluid and better to watch in the final third in my opinion.

They do both like organisation at the back - but to be fair, what sort of Manager doesn't? I think Koeman is far more adaptable tactically.

'Fluid in the final third', has been lacking recently.

Tactics King Koeman couldn't even guide us past Danish European also-rans. That comp should've been the focal point of the season but we didn't even get there.

Van Gaal is the better boss. Sure, he's spent over the odds on crap but the United of old is long gone and will take years to recover - if they ever will.

Saints have looked class in some games this season, dreadful in others.

I can't say I find it boring .... frustrating at times, when we aren't taking our chances, but certainly not boring

Really ? Surely not much....

It's important not to confuse form and consistency with what the players are encouraged to do within the tactical framework they are given. We've played some fantastic stuff under Koeman when the players have been on it and in good form. Even on Saturday we could have scored 5 or 6 and that was coming out of a poor run of form. We can be very fluid in the final third but the players aren't always on form.

Compare that to Van Gaal's Man Utd where £30m+ players are asked to fulfil disciplined roles and can't express themselves on the ball then I think it is a world apart personally.

LvG is an utter pillock

clearly drains the life out of attacking, flair players

Di Maria is world class and he could not wait to get out of Manchester.

Herrera, Mata even Rooney all suffering under him

whilst, smalling and the defence (with help from an excellent keeper) are standing out

Utd's defence benefits from the habitual iron curtain in front of it, when it's not there the failings become pretty evident, as they did on Tuesday I believe.

Fluid? You mean a fullback overlap?

On the whole, Ive found our football pretty boring to watch under Koeman. Said as much last season, even when we battered a few teams. However, I am happy to put up with it as long as it's effective, winning football and it has been for the most part.

I feel the same way to the extent that I've been slightly surprised how many we've won. "Playing out of a good organisation" is the mantra. Could apply equally to Man United. I much preferred watching under Pochettino, but then I prefer possession football and I know it's not everyone's cup of tea.

We've been doing it since the start of last season, van Gaal only found his style a few months ago - so if anything, Man U are copying us. Which makes sense given Schneiderlin's strengths.
