Ronald Koeman, last week

“I know myself, I am not really a project manager. Football is what happens now,”

Carlos Ancelotti, this week

"“I will continue to wait,” Ancelotti tells The Independent. “If I don’t find a club with a good project, I can wait. What will I do? Watching games, fishing, all these things. But let us see next summer. I will not take a job in mid-season, but I would like to work again next summer.”

I just Googled "football project" and got 99,500 results. Without the quotes it's a hundred and ninety three million results.

And we must have had questionnaires concerning at least half of them on this forum.:p

Midway through his stay , I would anticipate Ronald may start making discontented statements to try and get a reaction from Saints / others. However, I think he is able to see through the 'Projects' concept that has become de rigueur these days, as money men take over the sport. I agree with Ronald, football is now.

The dear old financial fair play glass ceiling seems to suggest clubs like Leicester, Palace, Stoke and ourselves may struggle with the next step, so maybe a "Project" is not a good idea, sustainability being more relevant. I remember Charlton fans being warned "Be careful what you wish for" when Curbishley was being moaned about for keeping them mid table for about seven seasons. He went, they nose dived.

But as long as we don't appoint Les Reed as manager, right? :D

Didn't their owner at the time run into some money troubles and hence their demise?
