sotonnick Posted 11 December, 2015 Posted 11 December, 2015 Preview now on: http://theitchenperspective.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/preview-crystal-palace-v-southampton.html
Kingsbridge Saint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Form says Palace, good chance of a draw, but the Prem is so unpredictable we could just as easily win 4-0. No idea what sort of mindset our lot will be in, or theirs. I reckon we'll be stinging a bit though after some recent lame arse performances and should step up. Benching Wanyama would help.
Poolesaint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Yeah, good luck with that. Yeah cheers for that input!
austsaint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 We bought him because we're not short-sighted enough to think you can buy the finished article for what we paid for him and have a history of developing players and selling them at a big profit. As far as I'm concerned he's about as good as I was expecting, with the 2 month setback for injury factored in. Mane hadn't done much after 10 matches either. I'm with you on this "9" - Clasie has more to offer than those writing him off after so few starts. I would argue that Mane showed the class skills to come quite early in his Saints career. I would like to see Juanmi given more minutes in favour of JWP if the latter is considered for an attacking role. Got a good feeling about a result today in South London.
Rebel Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 If we play the same old 4-2-3-1 with the usual suspects we will lose again. We need to bench Wanyama, Pelle and Taduc and stop long balling it. We need to change things and play 4-3-3 for me with pace and movement up front - and a solid midfield that find the front 3 with the through pass - and cover for the full backs when they go forwRd and add some width. A front three of Juanmi on the left, Long down the middle, and Mane on the right. A midfield of Romeu as the holding midfielder, sitting deep to protect the back 4, Davis on the left and Clasie on the right to press the opposition and support the front the three. A back 4 of Bertrand, Fonte, Van Dijk and Cedric - with the full backs provide width on the overlap when attacking and Fonte and van Dijk taking it in turns to bring the ball out from the back to start attacks. If this doesn't work we should switch to 4-3-1-2 and bring on Tadic for Juanmi to play in the hole behind two strikers - Mane and Long, maybe switching one for Pelle if all else fails.
Shance Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Drop Tadic and Pelle? I swear some fans are on crack.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Drop Tadic and Pelle? I swear some fans are on crack. [emoji38] Mad, isn't it? I can kind of understand Pelle at times but we haven't got anyone to replace him with. Tadic is the hilarious one seeing as he creates the majority of our open play chances and has been one of our best players the last couple of months.
Shance Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Yeah but sometimes I think people expect too much from Pelle. What's he supposed to do if he's being isolated? His hold up play is usually very good and he works very hard imo.
WealdSaint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 I might consider starting Long instead of Pelle
saints-cris Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Stek Cedric - Fonte - VVD - Bertrand Romeu - Wanyama Davis - Mane - Tadic Pelle Yes , they've got a quick front line but our defenders aren't slow either. Should be able to win this one, but I'm not overly confident.
St Lej Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 If you're a f'cking idiot, yes. On an unrelated note, 5 of my 6 cards in my playing "career" were for dissent (although 4 of them were from the same ref). You played football back in the day? You should have said! Not sure you've ever mentioned this before
Batman Posted 12 December, 2015 Author Posted 12 December, 2015 3-2 to saints. we will be back today Pelle will score and everyone will have a right go at me for doubting him I hope so, anyway
Dalek2003 Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 3-2 to saints. we will be back today Pelle will score and everyone will have a right go at me for doubting him I hope so, anyway Hope you are right in your prediction. Fingers crossed. I see a very tight 1-1 draw.
Maggie May Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 This will be a very tough game. I can see Cabaye pulling the strings. I hope I'm wrong.
Dig Dig Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 What a dreadful lineup Looks a bit strange....5 at the back ane mane ane long up front?
Batman Posted 12 December, 2015 Author Posted 12 December, 2015 pelle dropped this is a new age!!!!!!!
Saint_Tony Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Gazzaniga?? Yoshida??? Long??? Seriously????? Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk
Dig Dig Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Looks like we'll be sitting back and countering, playing palace at their own game.
The Saint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Could we see Yoshida at CB, VVD in midfield..? Or Yoshida at LB and Bertrand in the wing...? Be interesting to see how this one pans out
BARCELONASAINT Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 WTF, has our manager completely lost his mind. That is either a stroke of genius or he is a complete moron.....
Saint Charlie Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Why play 3 at the back versus a team who play with one striker and dangerous wingers? Bertrand and Cedric will be preoccupied with them so unable to get forward as much and two of the CBs will be marking space. Plus any shot they have on target will likley go in....although Gazza a better option than KD now. Only two players who are attacking in the side which is a shame.
Window Cleaner Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 I might consider starting Long instead of Pelle what's up with Clasie again then ?
Matthew Le God Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Drop Tadic and Pelle? I swear some fans are on crack. Umm... how to break this to you? Tadic and Pelle have been dropped to the bench today.
Batman Posted 12 December, 2015 Author Posted 12 December, 2015 Ron did this last season when we were on a similar shyte run. went 3 at the back at home to everton with a fairly changed team and it worked
saint lard Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 So we sit deep....bringing them onto us.....like we are really good at that. No creativity.... This smacks of desperation. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Batman Posted 12 December, 2015 Author Posted 12 December, 2015 Drop Tadic and Pelle? I swear some fans are on crack. obviously, you will think Koeman is on crack?? lets be honest, pelle was a complete passenger at home to the worst side in the league. he is on one of those non-scoring runs again. why should he start every game?
Window Cleaner Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 5 at the back to compensate for the shîte keeper then ??
VectisSaint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Drop Tadic and Pelle? I swear some fans are on crack. Maybe its Ronald thats on crack.
Saint Charlie Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Stek has a toe injury and Pelle knee niggles.
Whitey Grandad Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Umm... how to break this to you? Tadic and Pelle have been dropped to the bench today. He can always bring them on once we're 3 goals during win in a valiant effort to reclaim the game.
Window Cleaner Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Umm... how to break this to you? Tadic and Pelle have been dropped to the bench today. Free Crack for everyone then :uhoh:
Batman Posted 12 December, 2015 Author Posted 12 December, 2015 at least martina still makes the bench we will win this. have faith ffs
Saint Charlie Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 JWP dropped again then probably will be recalled for the next game after doing nothing as a 65min sub today.
Batman Posted 12 December, 2015 Author Posted 12 December, 2015 (edited) JWP dropped again then probably will be recalled for the next game after doing nothing as a 65min sub today. how many games has clasie been dropped for now? will yoshida gift them a glorious chance today? Edited 12 December, 2015 by Batman
Saint Billy Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Omg that selection is brave, no doubt intended to catch them on the break.
eurosaint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Confucius says : " Strange line up often produce strange result " ! Keep the faith !
simo Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Didn't want to win today anyway ! What formation is that too 5-3-2 or 4-2-1-2-1 ?
alpine_saint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Thats a f**king awful team. So much for having more squad depth. We will lose by 2 goals or more
Window Cleaner Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Perhaps there have been sanctions for excesses at the Christmas Party or something.
alpine_saint Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 Our persistent failure to ensure we have GK cover is appaling..
eddie Posted 12 December, 2015 Posted 12 December, 2015 I absolutely love this team. It's exactly the kind of sea change we needed to see what koeman is really made of as a manager, and also to demonstrate that we really don't have a 'first 11' - our squad depth is as much being able to replace like for like due to injuries as it is to have a flexible squad to play different types of football.today it's good old counter attack with 5 at the back to deal with bolasie puncheon etc and mane and long to get behind their slow defence! If we win, of course. Could go either way - but I'm happy at least that somethings changed
